breakfast was particularly good. Good range of fresh fruit, yogurt cereals, cooked food, including full English breakfast, toast with choice of breads and hot drinks. All cooked food was freshly cooked to order and nicely served in a very pleasant dining room/restaurant evening meal was very enjoyable, with sufficient choice Our room was spacious, well equipped, very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The hospitality tray was very good, with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and lovely biscuits. the bathroom was well equipped and spacious, though I didn't quite get the hang of the shower! Checkout was very efficient

staff were 'pushed 'and there seemed to be a shortage of waitresses, causing a delay in taking guests' orders for their meals, on our first evening. That said, those who were waitressing were hard working and did their best to meet everyone's needs. There was a good range of food and a 'specials board ' and our food was nicely served and very enjoyable.

Exceptionally helpful check-in and bar/restaurant staff. They could not do enough to make our visit enjoyable and comfortable. Food (dinner) quality in bar/restaurant was fair. The Full English Breakfasts were amazing in terms of volume and variety of ingredients. Our rooms had en-suite shower/loos that were sparklingly clean and new looking, though imagination must have been exercised to squeeze it into the available floorspace. Special praise deserved for providing luxury touch of individual bar of soap and lotions. A welcome avoidance of the horrible liquid soap dispensers that many hotels think are a nice idea. (I am also allergic to liquid soap!). Plentiful supply of luxurious white towels. There is free parking at the rear of the hotel but only 7 spaces so first come first served. The parking area is monitored by CCTV which is a very good and reassuring touch. For a visit to the picturesque village of Hawarth and especially of the Brontë Parsonage Museum and church, the Old White Lion location could not be better, being only a few steps away.

On the down-side decorative but redundant cushions and bed runners are a bit of a nuisance because they have to be removed to enable the bed to be useable. Unfortunately, in the rooms we had at least, there is precious little spare space to store these items. Duvets are used for the beds but these seem to be heavier than necessary. Summer (lighter low Tog) Duvets would be more welcome for year-round practicality because the central heating system would ensure comfortable ambient temperature in the winter months. Some of the rooms might benefit from newer beds.

What a location ...so picturesque ! Like being in a small slice of Harry Potter land with the Brontie history . The atmosphere of main street is great 👍 lots of people having a great time , great atmosphere 😀 👍 we booked at the last minute and were totally accommodated, stones throw away from Penistone Moore ..which is outstanding

Slight moan - could someone revise the location on Google maps because the current one sends you off somewhere really obscure - just get someone who knows that they are doing ( as opposed to just saying they know and then fiddling around and messing it up ) to put the accurate location and all will be good - I spent an hour trying to get there because the white lion address not properly on Google or satnav

Unique location and steeped in history. Room was exactly as advertised. Clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Building was full of character, staff were courteous and friendly, parking was easy. Had an amazing meal, steak was cooked to perfection which can always be hit and miss. Bar and food prices totally reasonable and in keeping with the area. Really good selection of beers. Only stayed a couple of nights with my son to attend a family event in the area but would definitely have been happy to extend my visit.

A lovely room with a great view - especially of the snow covered landscape and scene outside when staying for 3 nights. The hotel is ideally situated at the top of old Haworth and perfect for exploring. Food is excellent with a good menu choice to suit all tastes. Great value for money. My stay was room only but I did eat each evening in the hotel. Breakfast was self sufficient as I had to be at the railway very early - being involved with the Spring Steam Gala. I've known the owner and his staff for many years and I'm always made too feel at home. They're one of my many 'Extended Families'.

Nothing. Why fix something that isn't broken.

The location was excellent. The pub downstairs was very old, cosy and did fabulous food. We had an excellent evening meal and breakfast there. Highly recommend the tipsy chicken! The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful.

We stayed in a family room (room 14) and the staff warned us when we checked in that it got quite hot and stuffy inside. There was a stand alone air con unit in the room for our use but it sounded like a jet engine when it was put on and I'm sure would wake the whole building up at night. Old sash windows did open but then you heard all the street noise and the church bells ringing every 15 minutes during the night. So, it was a choice between sleeping next to the jet engine or hearing the bells. We chose neither but it was a terribly hot, uncomfortable night. We stayed at the beginning of May so would hate to think what it would be like in July/August - unbearable. Also, the double bed was too soft and our backs hurt the next day. The mattress could do with replacing.

Check in was late as we'd only started driving over from Cheshire following a day's work - arrived circa 9pm, which wasn't a problem - checked in easily, booked breakfast for the next two mornings at 9am and then dropped bags off in the room - came down for a drink in the bar - really nice bar, all beams n brick and the staff were lively/friendly - bar snacks were fairly limited - no crisps on offer but there was mini cheddars/pork scratchings/nuts. Breakfast was fab - buffet style for the cereal/juice/tea/coffee etc and cooked items were ordered and arrived fairly soon after - very nice full English grill - ingredients all top notch and well cooked. Didn't try dinner in the restaurant but it had a good reputation and we saw a few meals come out which looked fabulous. Room itself was nice and comfy. Not the biggest but had everything you need and a nice view across the village and into the 'famous' Bronte countryside beyond. Fabulous position in the village right up at the top of a fairly (in)famous steep hill - we managed to walk all the way down and back up again twice, which certainly tired us out sufficiently well for a good night's sleep.

Well I wasn't a massive fan of the hill (but that isn't their fault) - not sure I could live in the village! Fab place to visit though. Room was a bit cold (but March in the UK is) - radiator didn't seem to 'take the chill off' too well, but wasn't a major problem. Perhaps need to add a small fan heater to the room (maybe there was one, I didn't think to check/ask!)

Very convenient accommodation for all things Bronte. Just a few steps away from the Haworth church and parsonage. Excellent choice of food for dinner and everything delicious. Prices were reasonable. Staff were very friendly and helpful, good communication when booking. Everything clean.

Room we were in had enough space for a king size bed instead of the double provided. Grab bar for shower above bath would be helpful in case of slips.

All of the staff were welcoming and made us feel comfortable. The food was excellent and service prompt. They were very accommodating when choosing times to eat. The social distancing practice was welcome. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends. I would never book again through booking.com I would book directly with the hotel.

Just a small niggle. The wardrobes were full of bed linen and towels which restricted hanging space, but saying that it's understandable when storage space is limited. Also the bed mattress was too hard for me but linen and towels were impeccably clean.

Warm and welcoming. Really tasty game pie. Bar staff excellent. £10 for breakfast was money well spent - it set me up for the day. Staff very willing to help, and small amendments to my dinner (salad instead of veg) and breakfast (an eclectic mix from the full English and vegetarian options) were absolutely no problem. Full marks to the guy working the bar who knew that the game pie didn’t have mushrooms without having to check with chef.
