The Black Hat

Comfy bed, beautiful room, great new bathroom, spotless, good facilities in the room. The location is amazing - close to restaurants, shops, less than 10 mins walk to the train station. The town is absolutely beautiful. Good hearty breakfast options included with the room. Really friendly staff who made sure we were happy at every stage. Good value in comparison to other options in the area.

It was slightly noisy as our room was right above the pub part of the building but we were out at a wedding one of the nights so didn’t really matter. Pub isn’t open too late either so wasn’t a big deal, but if you’re keen for something super quiet and peaceful, maybe request a room further from the pub part.

The manager Tony was exceptional. When he found out it was our 45th wedding anniversary he asked the barmaid for a bottle of Prosecco, a wine cooler and glasses then proceeded to carry it up to the room for us. He explained theNspresso coffee machine, fan etc. The room was lovely-big, well furnished, king size bed. Bathroom looked newly renovated and all was spotlessly clean, and lovely biscuits on the hospitality tray! The cooked breakfast was great, cooked to order so hot and of good quality. The only thing I would say could be improved maybe would be more choice of cereals, just corn flakes and oat flakes. Tony was there again at breakfast, chatting to us and other guests which was nice. Would definitely stay again

The breakfast was very good although would have preferred the option of orange juice rather than cranberry juice. The location is excellent - right in the heart of Ilkley.

The main let down was the sofa bed in the triple room. My friend had a nasty accident getting into the sofa bed which had exposed metal parts along the edges of the length of the bed. She received a deep cut to her ankle which didn’t stop bleeding for a long time. Also the mattress on that bed was very poor and she was most uncomfortable feeling each spring beneath her and was unable to get a good nights sleep . The other two single beds in that room were very comfortable and the bathroom was spotlessly clean and modern.

The room was large and very clean and comfortable. Each room is named after cricketers, we stayed in dickie bird. The bathroom was large with a bath, and two showers (one overhead and one at hand). It was very quiet at night even though the pub is on a main road, so we got a really good night's sleep. Everything you need in the room and the coffee machine was a pod one. We had a very large TV at the end of the bed and full length mirrors. The staff were brilliant. Very happy and very polite. Couldn't help us enough! The pub itself was quite large with three tv's and a good selection of draught beers. We booked a table before we came for our evening meal. The evening meal was good, they had run out of a few things on the menu but there was a notice up saying they were having supplier issues so some items wasn't available. We didn't mind though because the food we ended up eating was lovely. The breakfast which is included in the stay was enormous! We really enjoy a good breakfast and this set us up for the day. Absolutely wonderful stay with the black hat. Will definitely be going again. Thanks guys!!

Absolutely nothing, we loved everything about this pub.

A wonderful welcome from our host and Frodo, the dog. We were shown to our room and everything was explained. Nothing was too much trouble and we were told to ask for anything we needed ie, extra coffee, towels. We stayed in a pleasant, good sized room which had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. The bed was very comfortable and there were both a bath and shower in the en-suite bathroom. We ate at the Black Hat, had fish and chips, it was delicious. Breakfast was very good. We absolutely loved Ilkley with it's beautiful moors, the river Wharfe and lot's of independent shops. We will be returning for another visit very soon :)

My only complaint is that it would have been nice to have fresh tea and coffee with breakfast rather than from a machine.

Great place to stay. The rooms are super clean and very comfortable, and the bathrooms are really excellent. Beds are comfy and have great linens. Room has everything you could need, including ironing board and espresso machine. Staff and the landlord are all absolutely lovely, I have various food intolerances and they were so accommodating and non judgemental. Was visiting for a wedding and this place exceeded my expectations by far. Would recommend to anyone staying in the area.

I honestly had the best experience of anywhere I have stayed so far, it was the perfect room for me ~ peaceful, so comfortable with thoughtful additions like a lovely coffee machine, comfortable bed, pillows and soft sheets & towels, lovely scented hand soap, shampoo & shower gel ~ provided, soft lighting….more than this though - what a brilliant, kind and caring team ~really loved meeting you all ~ what a pleasure to meet such genuine people! I was able to work in peace when I needed to and then go off and have my adventures exploring the beautiful, friendly village of Ilkley. This whole experience has been so inspiring! Thank you for remembering my favourite room and letting me stay in it on my second visit ☺️ I shall be back very soon 🍃🪷🍃

Truly exceeded our expectations, had everything you could think of in the room and more, bed was super comfortable and decor was lovely. It was also really clean. Staff were so helpful and welcoming, breakfast was delightful. Our little dog was extremely well cared for. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again and would recommend to anyone!

The staff were all genuinely warm and welcoming throughout our stay. The rooms were spotless clean, nicely decorated and very comfortable. Extras such as a Dyson fan, Nespresso machine, magnifying mirrors, iron and ironing board etc were all very much appreciated. Enjoyed having a drink in the bar, chatting to the friendly staff and locals as well as playing board games. Location was very central. parking could be found directly behind the accommodation at a reasonable price of £1 per hour between 8am-6pm. Only a 2 minute walk away from the local park and riverside which was ideal for those travelling with dogs

Spacious room opposite delightful church. Very comfy bed and sumptuous ensuite....tastefully tiled and appointed. Great coffee. Would defs visit again this elegant country town at the foot of legendary moor. NB walk up on the moor gives great views of the area and active birdlife - red grouse, curlew, meadow pipit, lark, stonechat and greenfinch.....up by Cow and Calf Rocks!! Riverside park walk also well worth visit. Although no hotwl dedicated free parking, there are easily found public parking slots behind the Black Hat(free between 6pm and 8AM)....less than 50 yards away.
