Lovely old building, staff were amazing, food great. We booked the extra size double room and were amazed at the size, it was huge, loved having a sofa to chill out. Staff couldn't do enough for you, friendly and helpful. We had dinner in the bar and it was really good. Breakfast in the morning was also good and plenty extras to fill up on.

Our only negative was the noise, to be fair we were pre warned that it could be noisy so this is by no means a complaint. As it's an old building with listed windows, you do hear everything outside from traffic to bar patrons outside for a smoke and chat.

A family-run pub-hotel offering clean and comfortable accommodation with home-cooked food. Ideal for me staying two nights in order to play golf at the nearby Kirriemuir golf Course. (5 mins drive). The staff were really friendly and helpful and my room had all the usual facilities as well as a shower that worked well first time!

Nothing springs to mind.

Great location as a base for golfing in the area Excellent staff who looked after us very well Good menu selection and chefs that can tweak the dish if you have an allergy Special mention for Rae, breakfast chef, we were well looked after

All good for us!

The rooms are situated above a lively bar so there is some noise but this is to be expected. We were greeted warmly and shown to the rooms. The rooms were spotlessly clean and smelled fresh. The beds were very comfortable and we slept really well. In the morning we were served by a very friendly woman who cooked us a delicious breakfast. All the staff and bar patrons were lovely and friendly, will be staying again the next time we visit Kirri.

I’m very pleased overall with our stay as it exceeded our expectations. My only criticism would be the door mechanisms were slightly stiff and therefore quite noisy whenever entering or leaving the room.

Kirriemuir was a small unknown jewel which we happened upon by accident. The Thrums hotel was a great traditional pub-style hotel. The dinner menu was limited (pub food) but what we chose was good. Breakfast did not disappoint. The room was large and overlooked the main road through the small town.

There was a problem with the room heater. The staff managed to get it working but it struggled to heat the room. Fortunately the weather was not colder.

Excellent food and service, great breakfasts, set you up for a day's sightseeing. Perfect base for Angus, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. Beds super comfy, good nights sleep every night. Rooms serviced every day. Town has its own history and attractions.

No bedside tables, bathroom was fairly clean but needed a refresh and bit of maintenance.

The room was very clean and comfortable as was the bathroom. The shower was very clean and the pressure and temperature was very good. It is in an excellent location bang in the centre with free parking at the back. The breakfast was fresh and hot and the service was quick. I had a drink in the bar and the girl that served me was nice. I found the bar and toilets exceptionally clean. It was a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere with the staff on hand should you require them but at the same time not intrusive. Outside was well presented with hanging baskets which were maintained. Also a window which I could open (it was fine weather) which was good with a blind that could be extended fully to block out light.

All was good with the hotel on every level but the very loud seagulls directly opposite kept me awake both nights and that is definitely not the owner's fault; not sure what can be done about that though.

Staff excellent really can't do enough for you and made you feel welcome. Good home cooked food with great service

Our bed was quite creeky and a little to hard. Shower wasn't the best 2/10 Breakfast wasn't to bad good service and well cooked although I was expecting more of a Scottish traditional breakfast with perhaps square sausage and tatty scones and maybe porridge 😀

The Room (2) was very comfortable and clean, very friendly staff. Breakfast was lovely and plenty.

The shower needs a hand rail to get in as it is set quite high at least 10-12 inches to step up, there was also no sanitary bin in the bathroom.
