Quiet location within a hour's travel time to Dundee or Perth if you want to travel into city. I was in a nice room with quaint features, but everything you need for a peaceful space. The facilities are self catering however the hosts supply a continental type breakfast along with with fresh milk for your cereal if you want which was a nice way to start the day before going out for a day of being a tourist. I travelled alone and felt safe within the premises.

For the heating to be on on the first night but it wasn't too cold I put on a hoodie, the shower jets to be fixed but it is the end of season and had a nice shower just some of the jets not quite working as they should.

Lovely welcome, room very small but as expected with private bathroom. Nice shared area with continental style breakfast available which was gratefully received. Room had own kettle and coffee plunger with ground coffee in kilner style jar. The Wee Bear Cafe is a fantastic space and the food platter did not disappoint. Really appreciated the home from home feeling and the setting is perfect.

A little noisy generally, children of another party running up and down the hallway woke us very early but not the fault of the hosts. Room could have been a bit cleaner (I do have high standards in this regard), for example around the taps in bathroom and the coffee plunger still had contents from previous traveller. However, this really didn't detract from our stay, I wouldn't hesitate to stay again, and the hosts more than made up for this!

Absolutely beautiful place to stay, the staff were amazing, very friendly and service with a smile. We arrived on Saturday and enjoyed Taco night! Food was excellent, super tasty. Complements to the chef. The room was cosy and warm, peaceful and comfortable. In the morning you can help yourself to breakfast from a small clean and tidy kitchen, which is well stocked and equipped. Stunning view, and a glimpse of some wildlife. Red squirrels in the garden and across the Locke we’re sure we saw an osprey.

Everything was perfect. Loved every minute.

The property was clean and tidy, kitchen facilities were a lovely touch, continental breakfast was included in the price and there was as much tea and coffee as you liked. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. We were lucky to stay on one of their special nights where there was food available in the restaurant, other than this bar snacks were available.

The walls are paper thin meaning that you can hear EVERYTHING from other rooms.

Lovely accommodation and location. Quite remote and near a loch. Just where we needed to break our journey from Lossiemouth to Jedburgh. The owners were very friendly, beds comfortable and the availability of the bar downstairs till 9.30 (not every night of the week) meant we could have a drink. We knew there was limited, if any food available in the evening so we ate at lunchtime on the way and took sandwiches for later. We wished we had time the next morning to stay around till 10 and have a good breakfast in the cafe downstairs, but we needed to be elsewhere by a set time. As it was, we loved the informal breakfast of cereal and toast available in the shared kitchen and it was lovely to be able to chat with some of the other visitors in the shared lounge too during breakfast. Parking was very easy with their own car park. We were also able to leave a few small items in the fridge in the shared kitchen which was very useful.

We wanted to stay longer!

We had a wonderful stay at the lodge. The room had great facilities....fresh coffee - lovely and a great shower. The livngroom and kitchen add an extra great space. The cafe is lovely, great feel, great food - especially breakfast!! We will definitely be back.

You can hear the other guests coming and going, conversation and doors banging. Our room and bed were a little small but for 2 nights and the space in the livingroom it was absolutely fine.

Lovely welcome note on arrival. Spacious room for our family of 4 and a labradoodle! Lovely decor and really clean. A really lovely room! We loved the shared kitchen and lounge as the weather was a bit drizzly and we’d missed the cafe. Kitchen was well stocked and the breakfast was a lovely surprise. Nice to chat with the other residents, a really friendly, relaxed environment. Plenty of car parking right outside and space to walk the dog. Only downside was the weather and we’d wished we were staying an extra night to explore the area! Cafe looked gorgeous but closed - we’d like to come back and sample the delights! Really good value for money.

This is a little gem in the country. Cafe Bear open till 3pm is attached to the Lodge and popular with locals and has the most amazing homemade cakes. Cafe Bar recently refurbished is open in the evening for bar meals. On Sunday we were offered a choice of three sharing platters (meat and cheese, fish and vegetarian which could be made vegan)we chose meat and cheese and the fish both of which were delicious. They had an excellent selection of food with lovely bread and bread sticks. This is a comfy cosy stay with nice garden area. There's a lounge and kitchen where you can help yourself to cereal yogurt bread for toasting teas and coffee for breakfast. The rooms are comfortable and clean with a good shower. The owners and staff are friendly and will do anything they can to make guests happy. Beautiful area with stunning scenery well worth a visit you won't be disappointed. If you're looking for luxury this is not for you but you will be made welcome and definitely a relaxing break in the country.

Sorry can't think of anything I didn't like.

Such a wonderful place, a real hidden gem. The owner and staff were all so welcoming! It's very dog friendly which was great for our 2 furry friends. They do sharing platters at night and the cafe during the day does lovely food, cake & coffee. There are lots of nice walks nearby too It's got a very cosy feel. There is a guest lounge you can use and this is where you can make your own breakfast of toast, cereal, yogurt etc which is a nice touch.

Only downside for me was that I found the bed to be a little bit uncomfortable but I would still go back.

Beautiful setting. Friendly owners are very helpful in local information on places to visit and to have an evening meal. Relaxed atmosphere. Beautiful cafe with delicious cakes.

Would have liked a mirror in our bedroom for me to see to dry my hair in. There was a mirror in the bathroom if you needed to put make up on etc. We were in the highland cow room. Beautiful room but a small mirror on wall , near a plug would be handy.
