Avonmore Hotel

The hotel is in an excellent location, very near Russell Square tube station. I walked from the hotel to Leicester Square in less than fifteen minutes. The British Museum is five or so minutes' walk away. My room overlooked the quiet "square" (actually a semi-circle), which was very quiet apart from the birdsong and the thwack of tennis balls. The room was small, but perfectly adequate and clean. Remember that this is not a purpose built hotel, it's a converted Georgian/early Victorian townhouse, so all the rooms will have their quirks. I did't see a lift, so this is something to bear in mind if you have mobility issues - the stairs are quite narrow and steep. The 24-hour reception gave me a sense of security, and the receptionists were very polite and efficient.

The room was advertised as including breakfast, although breakfast is not served at the hotel. This was made clear on booking, so I was prepared for that when I arrived. There are many cafes, etc in the surrounding streets, so plenty of places to find breakfast. The rooms are not particularly well sound-proofed, but again, this is an old building which has been converted, so keep that in mind. Noise from the adjacent room was only an issue on one night of my three-night stay, and even then did stop at a reasonable time.

Superb location, very clean, a comfortable bed, helpful and very pleasant staff. St Pancras, Kings Cross tube station, Euston and Bloomsbury all within a few hundred metres. I stayed in one of the smaller rooms with a single bed but it was fine and the en-suite bathroom had been newly renovated with good shower pressure. The park opposite with tennis courts was lovely and I had no issues with noise, although I always use earplugs when staying in a large city. As an older, solo woman I also felt very safe walking in this area even of a nighttime.

It would have been nice to have a tiny fridge in the room for milk/yoghurt and the Wi-Fi in my room was a bit unreliable

The room was very clean, tastefully furnished, warm and welcoming. The bathroom had a new shower with good pressure. The TV worked on HD channels (unlike a few hotels where only SD is available). The noise control was good - no noisy fans and the entrance had an extra door as a sound barrier. Friendly staff provided all that I needed, including a late checkin after midnight.

Shower gel and hand soap from renewable pump action containers would be preferred, rather than one-use soaps that do not get finished. Breakfast would be nice, but I knew in advance that it was not provided, and there are shops/restaurants nearby.

The location is excellent, very close to King's cross station. There are few pubs and restaurants nearby. Staff was very friendly. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet. Wifi was good and there is 24h desk. Direct Metro to airport is nearby.

I appreciate the tea in the room, but I would suggest to put a larger cup to properly enjoy it ;) I had a small luggage, but I can see how it would be a bit difficult to carry large luggage on the stairs. But if you are prepared to do this it should not be a problem.

The location was perfect, close to kings cross but in a quiet crescent. The staff were brilliant, very helpful and friendly. They carried my suitcase up to my room and down as being a character Georgian house there are lots of stairs. Nice room, good size for a single, clean with desk, chair etc and good lighting for reading. I had a separate private bathroom which was spotless, modern and easy to use. Hotel was quiet. I was not disturbed. A good stay and I'd use again.

The stairs to the top floor are steep, but safe. Not a problem for me but might be too steep for some people. No problem with my suitcase as the great staff took this up and down for me. The private bathroom was across a small landing but not a problem during my 5 night stay.

We loved this place! Perfect location--very close to Russell Square and Kings Cross/St. Pancras. Lots of cafes and restaurants in the neighborhood. We were in a room that had an interesting shape, which just added to its charm. The staff was friendly and everything was clean. When I return to London, this is where I'm staying again. Nothing super fancy, but my life isn't fancy, and this felt like home.

I liked it all! If I had to list something I didn't like, it would be the view out our back window, but I was only there in the dark, and it didn't bother me one bit.

For the price and location, it was excellent. Room was clean and the staff were very friendly. I even had late arriving luggage from the airport and they were there to receive it at 3:30am when it finally arrived!

Room is shockingly small, definitely only for solo travelers, but it does the job just fine. Shower took a bit to get warm, but once it did it was nice and hot. Not uncommon for old buildings.
