Commodore Hotel

We had a lovely spacious room, number 206. Hotel is very clean inside and the staff were helpful for checking in. The area was quiet at night time which meant we always slept well. Beds were comfy. Tube station 5min walk. Paddington station 10min walk. We arrived at the hotel 4 hours before check in and the staff kindly let us store our baggage.

Our toilet flush broke during our stay, I let reception know around 2pm. We came back to the hotel at 10pm and the flush was still broken. That's the only gripe to be honest.

I was at the Prince Albert Suite and even though I spent 8 nights there I felt very comfortable and happy since it was tastefully done, was well equipped, clean and well serviced. The breakfast was good. They would make me my preferred omelette with tomatoes and mushrooms without even having to remind them.

After 8 nights I checked out and returned again for one night, which was a smaller room which was a bit tight but the terrace extended the feeling of space.

The lobby is great, room is very nice and personalised, bathroom was great, comfortable beds, air conditioning was a nice feature.

The layout of it was inconvenient at times with really small lifts that made it awkward, having to go up to floor 6 and walk across and down to get to a part of floor 5 for our room. Room cleaning just walked in which seemed unprofessional and invasive. Staff were difficult to understand at times and seemed slightly awkward in accommodating complimentary requests but stayed to the mandatory ones fine.

Big Room, overlooking the front, with TV, coffee/tea, nice big bathroom with powerful shower, good breakfast choice, would stay again

Lighting in room bad, no central main light & no light by dressing table mirror Towels smelt slightly strange (not a nice fresh smell) Breakfast room needs a few green plants & background music, as not very cosy Staff were ok but maybe take a bit more time when speaking to customer generally, boy in breakfast room did not say good morning or explain how breakfast works, need to ask for eggs etc (didn't speak good English), didn't get asked on departure at reception, if everything was ok

Breakfast was underwhelming, but alright. Eggs are cooked to order, which is great, but for the price/hotel type I expected more choice in the cold cuts/cheese/cereal buffet.

Better signage in corridors. The place is a maze, which is charming, but there's little to no signs to help you find your way back to reception, or even just the elevator.

The room was very comfortable, spacious and inviting. The bathroom was very clean and new-looking (water pressure and hot water was very good). The bed was very comfortable. The smart TV provided was able to connect to the phone, YouTube and Netflix. The air-conditioning unit provided was a big plus point. The hotel is also located in a safe and quiet part of the city and we definitely felt safe even when walking back to the hotel late at night. Hotel front desk was helpful and courteous. Good value for money for a stay in the heart of London. I would definitely stay here again for my next visit to the city.

The electronic door stopper for the bedroom door stopped working a few times before we managed to get it sorted. Perhaps a printed instruction guide left on the table for the doorstopper would be useful for guests unfamiliar with using this feature.

Location is great a walk across the rd to Hyde Park,, bus service close bye and a short few minutes walk to the tube, also a hop on hop off tour bus close bye. Staff were very accommodating and friendly especially one receptionist, didn't get her name but she was great upgraded our room and we enjoyed chatting with her. Room was very clean credit to the staff who changed our towels every day, remade our beds and kept the room clean. Breakfast was the same every morning but remb to ask for either a fried, poached or scramble egg, there were sausages, bacon, tomato, fruit, choice of cereals etc pastries and staff was at hand if you needed something, they were more than accommodating.. Free WiFi, tea, coffee and biscuits in the room, fridge in room with water or you can put your drink in there, a safe for any personal belongings. Shower was a power shower really good pressure and plenty of room. In it. Beds were very comfy. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Wasn't keen on music at the reception area.

The room, facilities therein and technology was great … very clean and beautifully renovated.

Being on the ground floor and an older building there was a fair bit of floor creaking from above. Also, noise from the outside passage bled through which was likely due to the significant gap under the door which also let a lot of light through during the night. Vacuuming said passage early on Saturday morning was ridiculous, especially when it looked more like a steam clean was required! Finally, after traveling extensively for the month prior to this stay it was the first time we’d been asked for £10/hour for a 1 hour later checkout (til 12noon) ‘disappointing’!

Location of the hotel is ideal for the tube. Lancaster Gate on Central Line is approx 5min walk away. Hyde Park very close. Full size twin beds in roomy room. Good water pressure in the bathroom and shampoo etc provided.

Sat in reception before leaving for the tube you realise its missing something, no tea or coffee facilities. Bedroom didn't have side tables at the headboard and doors banging at night can make for some disturbing sleep .. until guests finally settle. Lifts tiny and 1 out if order ment house keeping using the same lift, long wait to go down with cases. Lacks atmosphere. Breakfast needs some love, same repetitive options sometimes looking past its best. Don't go late as they don't cook more, you eat what is left. Except eggs, ask though as not once were we asked. Over all OK, but room for improvement.
