South Lawn Hotel

Everything from the time we checked in to the check out everything was excellent. This is the doggiest friendliest place ever. A welcome pack for the dog on arrival. Special areas to walk the dog and poo and wee. They are allowed at the dinner table at all times and on the bed in the room. All the staff first spoke to the doggies then to us. Very good food and service. The staff in the dining room were especially good. They brought water for the dogs without being asked. Quick service witjout having to wait for ages for the food to arrive. A special mention of Ruby who was really caring and helpful. I asled MaryLou our doggie and she has insisted on going back there.

Amazing food, beautiful room. Extremely helpful staff that went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. Even made note of and catered for a slight dietary requirement and remembered with each visit to the restaurant. Food was incredible. Huge amoint of choice and value for money, all cooked perfectly and to our liking. Had a slight complaint and personal issue arise regarding comfort of the bed but received very prompt assistance in solving the issue and the staff couldn't do enough for us. Thank you for an amazing holiday, we will obviously be returning.

Our bedroom which seemed freshly decorated was well furnished with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, cozy carpeting and beds very comfortable with a nice en suite shower. Staff were pleasant and helpful throughout our stay. The restaurant exceeded our expectations for dinner for the quality of the food and the bar area and we really enjoyed our dining experience. Breakfast was also good with a high quality cooked option. Really appreciated the extra pot of hot water that came with my pot of tea, a small but nice touch. If you have a dog, excellent judging by the waggy tails and relaxed owners with a paddock for your dog to have a run. We will bring ours next time! Overall well thought out facilities and service which made a good impression and provided that extra detail to make your stay memorable for all the right reasons.

Nothing. Only a small suggestion re breakfast service to put extra milk out to collect a refill as had to ask for this as the one provided at the table doesn’t stretch to cereal as well as beverages.

Location was prefect ,the room was spacious,clean & tidy .Nice touch was an ironing board & iron, .given we had power cut on the first night of our stay .The staff couldn't have been more helpful , in dealing with the guest's .Ensuring we where kept informed & had temporary lighting , for our rooms

We stayed in the new wing ,was a touch surprised the room did not have air conditioning .Aslo more choice on the menu for Vegan's would be appreciated ,little things like having to ask for oat based milk at breakfast .Along with plant based butter ,would expect this to be readily available

Helpful and friendly staff. Very welcoming of my dog - he got a sausage at breakfast as well as lots of fuss from the staff. The dog exercise paddock and goody bag were amazing too.

It's hard to fault anything, but the sausage and bacon at breakfast wasn't the best I've had, and the burger I had in the restaurant was quite average for the price. However, I will probably have that complaint anywhere I go because my partner is an amazing burger chef and my local butcher is officially the best in England!

We booked a room as we were holding a celebration of my dad's life in one of the function rooms. The room reached all expectations along with the service received overall. We had an evening meal the night before which was excellent with very efficient and friendly service. The breakfast I would give 10/10. When organising the function room on the day of the event, management could not have been more helpful (Phil) and were on hand throughout the event. We all enjoyed the buffet and it was great to have the bar in the function room where we had barmen to service throughout. Would highly recommend for either a few days away or/and booking in a function room.

the reception staff were very welcoming and we got into the room by the agreed time. our biggest disappointment was breakfast was not included in the Booking.com price. Breakfast was extra and difficult to work out as getting value for money as it was a set menu. The evening meal was very good, staff were all very friendly. We walked into the village and down to the sea front, it was all so pretty and not overly spoiled. we would go back but we will book direct next time to make the breakfast option worth while.

Our room in the new building was spacious, tasteful and comfy! The restaurant was lovely and the food was delicious - pretty good value for money too. Staff were helpful and polite, parking was free and easy, and the location was excellent.

There could have been some helpful information displayed about the local area in the reception area, just to spark some inspiration for tourists.(There may have been for all i know, but then it clearly wasn't obvious!) Really everything was brilliant.

Lovely location with large gardens and plenty of parking. Our room was excellent on the ground floor, with easy access. The hotel was full which is a good recommendation but as we hadn't booked for dinner in advance, we couldn't get a table until mid-evening which was too late, but reception was quick to recommend a lovely pub The Smugglers minute down the road which was ideal for us. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel, for a quiet stay away from the hustle and bustle of modern living but on a main road for easy access.

No air con in the rooms -fan was available but it was uncomfortable at night.Weather was amazing. We were late returning one evening and the door was locked via the latch so our key didn't open it so had to wake someone up to let us in. He was grumpy and never appoligised for the door being locked.it was half an hour after lock up.
