The history and ambience of the building itself as well as the view from the (breakfast) restaurant, the garden etc. We got a room facing the car park and road but albeit us generally being sensitive to outside sound it did not blemish our stay at all. Beds were made for dreams and bathroom was super. The staff was very service minded and caring. We travelled by public transport and with a bus stop just opposite the location is ideal. Breakfast as well as the local fish meal we had were fantastic. Good kettle and Coffee, tea and biscuits in ample supply

Hard to think of anything. Price level could perhaps have been a deterrent for us. But in retrospect it was well worth it.(Dinner well priced though).

Breakfast was really excellent and the staff were great except the barman who was not interested in serving us at all! The hotel itself was great and very atmospheric 😊 I want to congratulate this hotel on such helpful staff re gluten free food and the great choices on offer for those of us. 👏🏻

We had a small cabin room no 1 which was cute but oppressively hot and we slept badly. The windows were cracked where previous visitors had obviously tried to open them as wide as possible! Put fans in the rooms! Also the towels stank of fried food so obviously the laundry is right next to the kitchens😩

A Brilliant location. The Beach House is within Walking distance to the town centre. It also backs on to a beach and pathway. One of the paths takes you to Hurst Castle whilst passing numerous Cafes on the way The property has a historic charm with wood panel walls and staircase. The dining room/breakfast room was lovely and cozy. We had breakfast, Lunch and an evening meal there. All were excellent and tasted delicious. All the staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble, they are all a credit to the Hotel. We will definitely be returning to this Hotel in the near future.

Nothing to dislike.

The location is very romantic, with the hotel set on the edge of an idyllic English village, complete with village green, independent small shops and pub. The hotel is on the cliff top and has lovely sea views, direct connection to the coast path and access to the shingle beach. The communal parts of the hotel felt lifted from an Agatha Christie novel (in a good way), with oak paneling, large fire place, sweeping staircases and sun room from which to watch the sun rise and set with view of the Needles and the Isle of Wight. Yet there have modern twists such as cardboard decorative stag heads. The hotel offers a nice breakfast in the dining room from a menu and has vegan options, including a superb vegan alternative to a full English breakfast. Well done! The staff on a whole were super friendly and helpful. However, we encountered a very missable Barman and had to wait a while to be acknowledged when waiting to order breakfast on one occasion. I would love to return but the size of our room for the price was a big disappointment. Even though it was clean and light with a very good size bathroom and spacious shower.

The standard room, named The Beach Hut had a lovely decorative beach hut theme, but was very small as a double. So small we had to keep our suitcases partly packed under the bed and lift them out when changing in order to walk around the bed. We could only hang a few items on a coat rack fixed to the wall. When we mentioned this to a member of staff the response was that we should have order a deluxe, not the caring response we expected when paying over £300 for a two night stay.

Everyone one was so friendly. We were a lot later than we expected, so I called ahead to tell them and straight away the lady was so reassuring and told us not to worry. They changed our dinner time when we spent longer than we thought at Peppa Pig world. They were also really lovely when my daughter fell over and cut her leg badly, helping us get everything to clean her up. The food was great, family room fab and i loved they came in and restocked the room and had a quick tidy in the day. One odd thing to love was the toilets in the main hotel. They were so unusual and you could really tell the age of the property.

We loved the room - the views were exceptional and the size, shape and style of the room was amazing - this trip was rebooked from 18 months ago for a big birthday and didn't disappoint. I have always wanted to say in this hotel. We loved the breakfast - and the service at breakfast time was amazing. The little rooms were beautiful and each had a different character and the billiard room for pre- (and post-) dinner drinks was a lovely oasis of calm.

The evening meal on the Friday night was a bit disappointing. There were a few issues with service - nothing terrible just not very professional (meals were brought out and then taken away again as waiter had forgotten who had ordered them, a wine order that had to be chased). The food was also a bit disappointing - my salmon was overcooked, as was my husband's steak and Tanglefoot pie. The restaurant was busy but not full.

It is at the sea front. Building is historical. Hotel management.

It is a chain, so restaurant was so so. It sort of has service but you still need to order at the bar, was off putting. If you book late you may end up in Annex which is not as beautiful as main building, it was not explicitly mentioned in reservation. We also didn't like line management, I guess they need some extra training.

A hotel that makes an effort yet allows you space to relax without ‘badgering’. Such an interesting, historical feel - think Agatha Christie novel! Gorgeous room styles with pretty finishing touches… everything you need and had we asked for more.. they would have obliged. Staff are lovely… receptionists and waiting staff (special mention to Stewart who made us laugh a lot!). Great choice of buffet- fresh and plentiful including fresh honey! Cooked breakfast to order so no ‘warming items’ like most hotels! No ‘do-it-yourself’ toast either; good old table service, freshly cooked food. Any combination of items including vegan/ veggie could be requested.

Nothing! (But bear in mind no lift as this is an old building)

The Beach House is a hotel full of querkiness and history. Currently under a much needed facelift yet retaining much of it's 125 years of charm. When the outside is fully restored some parts of the interior are a little tired and would also benefit from some thoughtful TLC. However our short stay was most enjoyable, staff are helpful & cheerful. Breakfast was good without being exceptional. We would probably stay again when there is less fog and mist to properly enjoy the prospect of it's stunning views across the solent.

Slippery tiled floors in the shower room and wet room floor drains with questionable functionality. Lack of a power socket near enough to a mirror to reach with a short hairdryer lead.
