A lovely pet-friendly guest house in a historic building with a warm & welcoming atmosphere. The owners were very friendly & accommodating. They even thoughtfully arranged my table in the dining room so that my dog could lie in front of the fire. The evening meal was delicious - good hearty food, as was breakfast. The meals had to be booked in advance but this was easily done & meant no waiting for the food to be served. A nice quiet location on the edge of the town with a pleasant riverside walk from the door which was great for my dog. The bedroom was perfectly adequate for my overnight stay with a good hot shower & kettle in the room. I would certainly stay here again.

The bedroom decor was a little dated & in need of refreshment but it was in keeping with the style of the building & I prefer a hotel with character to modern bland grey. I couldn’t turn the radiator on in the en-suite bathroom but the radiator in the bedroom was excellent so it wasn’t a problem for my one night stay.

I have stayed at this property before, so I suppose the fact that I returned tells its own story. The Glen is easy to find and has decent car parking. I was travelling by motorbike and I felt comfortable with the parking arrangements for my bike. The accomodation itself is nice and is only a short (10 minute or so) walk from the twon centre. My bed was huge and very comfortable and my room was a good size, although I was on the front of the hotel facing the road I wasnt aware of any traffic noise at all really. Breakfast was decent (pre-order the eveing before) and was cooked freshly for me. Location is good for the road to Moffat that passes St Marys loch - a superb road for bikers and one I have done many many times over the years. I'd be happy to stay there again if travelling in the area

Nothing to dislike really, it was good and I enjoyed my stay. The only thing I would say is that visitors should be aware that although an evening meal can be had at The Glen it must be pre-ordered and is served at 18:30, so you wont have dining flexibility BUT having said that the communications from The Glen were perfectly clear and I was aware of the dining policies in advance of my stay, so it wasnt a problem.

We had an excellent stay at The Glen as usual. The room overlooked the back gardens and we had a nice view of trees and the garden. It was lovely to be able to relax in somewhere that is dog friendly. Dogs are allowed in the breakfast room, but our rescue dog isn’t ready for this so they kindly accommodated my husband and I having breakfast at separate times (and me changing my mind about my breakfast after my husband raved about the cooked breakfast). Really nice friendly hosts. We have stayed before and we will be back.

My husband would have liked a comfortable chair in the room. That was all really.

The overall hotel, the location, the facilities all met our needs for 1 night. Breakfast was good and well cooked.

The room was frozen upon arrival, and I had to put an extra heater on. This isn't what you want after travelling and the weather was cold and raining. A nice warm welcome would have been appreciated. No evening meals Fri - Sun, which wasn't great. And, although pet friendly, the dogs can't use the grounds, and there are no grass surroundings to search for in the pouring rain.

Location, size of room and aspect. Cleanliness, everything I needed. Breakfast was excellent and plenty of space in the dining room area.

Accepting that the shower room was designed for those with disabilities which I don’t have; I found the lack of toilet seat and no hook for a bath robe difficult. Also the shower room never dried out and neither did my towels which was also frustrating. If I was staying longer I’d have asked for clean ones. Shower curtains always cling which is also not to my taste. Toiletries provided were very limited.

Characterful building with period features and nice outdoor space. I got a friendly welcome on arrival and at breakfast. My room was clean, comfortable and cool which, on a very hot day, was lovely. Breakfast was good with lots of choice. Pretty location overlooking Ettrick Water with riverside walks close by. The town centre is about a ten minute walk away.

Lovely old stone building with views of the valley, and friendly, helpful hosts. We had a wonderful mega bay window with window seats. Comfy beds and good breakfasts, sensibly catered to taste - so I didn’t feel overstuffed.

All good (possibly could do with some dried milk in the tea tray)

The rooms were magnificent - so beautifully appointed. The owner allowed us to check in early and was very helpful in recommending places that we could visit in the area.

It did take a long time for the room to warm up and the hot water to reach the shower. The latter was posted, though, so we were forewarned about this. Good to know!

We were driving up to Edinburgh but wasn't going to make it so found this place on Booking.com. Our arrival time was later than the 21:00 last check in time. However we called ahead and they agreed to stay up 2hours to allow us to book in late. Much Appreciated. Great sized rooms, clean and tidy throughout, unfortunately we were up and out too early for Breakfast but looked great. Would stay again.

Spotlessly clean spacious room, dog friendly, very helpful hosts. We arrived on a Sunday night and whilst we knew that there was no in house dining available that day, we did not appreciate that there was nowhere in Selkirk to dine out on a Sunday night with a dog. In desperation (we had travelled all day), we had a take away delivered and Antoinette provided us with plates and cutlery so that we could eat in the dining room, which we thought was really kind and helpful. We once dined in at the hotel and the home cooked food (steak pie) was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. If we had stayed longer, we would have dined in every evening. We thought the 6.30 setting was ideal since all sights/ attractions close at 5 pm anyway. The small family like atmosphere during breakfast and evening dinner enabled friendly chats with fellow guests and host alike. And best of all we were able to have our dog with us. We also liked the scenic walk along the Tweed opposite the hotel

If you know and accept its limitations (no dining available over the weekend), there is nothing which we did not like. Slightly awkward entry and exit to and from the hotel onto the road. Very happy and pleasant stay.
