The Royal Wells Hotel

Location is great and the staff are really welcoming and helpful. Beds very comfortable and the bathroom is bright and well equipped. The complementary bottles of water were much appreciated.

Unfortunately, none of the 3 rooms we occupied had air conditioning. We stayed during very warm weather and as 2 of the rooms were south/west facing, by night time the temperature in the rooms was really high. Although a fan was provided in each room, they only served to move the warm air around. Also, the wardrobes do not accommodate long dresses as the inside rail isn't high enough. I used a spare hanger I had brought with me and hung my dresses on the outside of the wardrobe. As the hotel is advertised as a wedding venue, I think the management should consider providing facilities to enable long dresses to be hung in the rooms.

The breakfast was absolutely lovely! Couldn’t fault a thing there. The bathroom was very clean and the bath was amazing! The overall room was cosy with comfortable beds. The staff were lovely, I would definitely stay again. The town is nice and has loads and loads of shops.

The carpets could do with a little clean in the rooms and one of our mugs was dirty and had lipstick on it. I would also suggest putting a chest of draws in the room for clothing storage as the pictures for a superior room showed a large wardrobe and we only got a small little corner one that didn’t fit both mine and my mums stuff in so had to keep my clothes in my suitcase.

I thought the hotel was very quaint having preserved many original features. It was very spacious . My room was quiet, very comfortable and spotless clean . The staff were absolutely wonderful . Attentive, warm and friendly . Both dinner and breakfast was delicious with lots of interesting choices. Great parking too . Thank you for s lovely stay.

I liked the style of the property , I also enjoyed the butterfly paintings and other art work . It always seemed full of interesting things to see. I can’t think of anything that I disliked about the property. It was perfect!

The room was clean if a little small. The bed was comfortable and the tea facilities were adequate for our 1 night stay. The breakfast waiter could not do enough for us. He made sure that the food was gluten free as requested and that every care was taken in the kitchen to reduce any cross contamination.

The receptionist wore a lovely white dress with black dalmatian style spots on it. It's a shame that her neon orange knickers were clearly visible through it. I'd have hoped another member of the staffing team would point this out to her.

The interior decoration of the room and en-suite was a pleasant surprise. Both had been completed to a superior standard. The full English breakfast was nicely cooked and sufficient. The welcome from the lady receptionist was friendly yet professional.

The front door ( between reception and the car park ) was stiff and very narrow. The view from our bedroom window was of a dirty, unkempt back yard with clogged up gutters and filthy window sills and paintwork. After the contractors have finished painting the front of the property, it is hoped that they will complete the other three sides.

Breakfast was served in a lovely bright dining area and there was a full range of choices on the menu. Our en-suite bedroom was clean & comfortable with tea & coffee making facilities. The single beds could have been a little wider. A six foot man would struggle. There were two small steps inside the room and to avoid accidents, they should have been marked or highlighted as one could easily trip over them.

Lovely size room (no.22) with large window overlooking back of hotel and views of countryside in the distance. A nice quiet room, lovely comfy bed with Tea/Coffee/Chocolate and biscuits. Super bathroom with large shower. Good breakfast well cooked and presented though choice of fruit/cereals limited. Great location for walking into Tunbridge Wells and a great olde worlde pub next door, the Beau Nash

We had one evening meal there and the choice for us was limited. I had the chicken which was good but the fish of the fish and chips was over cooked.

The welcome, at very short notice, was warm! An emergency weather event caused us to book the room at Royal Wells, and we were truly welcomed both by the staff and the warmth of the hotel itself! Although the restaurant was closed because the chef was snow-stranded too, every effort was made to meet our needs and a potential disaster (the roads were becoming impassable) turned into a lovely escape! The breakfast was smashing, and costs were included in a very reasonable price, so excellent value for money!

Very nit-picking, I found the bedlinen rather tired. It was definitely clean on a well-made bed, but elderly linen was a little thin and the pillows slightly lumpy.

The staff were brilliant. The gentleman on reception and doing many other jobs was helpful, polite and friendly. Slight issue with the evening meal but all sorted in the end. The roast dinner and cheesecake were brilliant, as was the breakfast. All staff were great, room was fantastic, bed comfortable, location amazing.

Only a few people staying and we were all put next to each other on the top floor. So was woken up at 12:30am by people coming in and early in the morning too. I understand it makes cleaning etc easier but was the only negative.

Lovely Hotel in very old building but beautifully maintained and very clean. Great location within walking distance of shops/restaurants /station etc. Staff were great - very nice welcome everything we asked was no problem at all. Car park is a real bonus. We were on the top floor but there is a lift so no problem there.

Food wasn't great. We had an issue with one of the meals - the staff sorted it no bother but as it had to be remade it put the meal all out of sync. Hotel refunded the cost of the meal- brilliant. Breakfast was a bit average, certainly poached eggs were all overcooked for our taste anyway.
