The Caledonian Hotel

location was excellent and room was nice with a very large double bed

I was informed that I would pay at property but they charged my card before I arrived and I didn’t want to pay by card. I only guaranteed the room with the card and was meant to pay on arrival!!

The best thing about this hotel was the friendly and helpful staff. They let us have our bags delivered in the morning and looked after them the following day until they were collected. They booked a taxi for us at a good price and even found the charger we had left in the room and sent it on with our luggage. Thank you all for your help.

All meals on the menu rather big and heavy. Something lighter or smaller portions would have been nice.

The staff were nice and pleasant. The room was good. The location of the hotel was good and a short walk from the sea. My friend and I paid extra for breakfast, which was excellent. The hotel is within 5 minutes walk to the beach. And sat on the edge of the town perfect position for both. There is a lovely shopping area with a few good shops , pubs take aways ect . Lidl across the road from hotel too. Never saw staff to speak with. They stayed in office.

Furniture tiered, and no lift for disabled people or those with heavy suitcases.

A nice little hotel, started off well, great staff at reception dealing with some difficult customers (not us) highly professional…well done. When check in complete, we even received a 20% discount voucher for meals during our stay. Whilst the room was a little dated it was clean (spotless) and very large. Still a bath rather than walk in shower but no real complaints there. The food in restaurant was damn good too. Would prefer that breakfast was included in price (happy to pay extra when booking).

The hotel is very basic but we were given a free upgrade to a superior room as the tv was not working in original room. This room was a great improvement.

Service in the adjoining bar/grill is very poor mainly at the weekends when the place is like a rudderless ship. As a result we decides to take our business to Agenda which is about a mile away. There you are appreciated as a customer and you are made to feel welcome. Also Agenda is able to serve a full menu in spite of Brexit unlike the Caledonian where the list of items not available on the menu is almost as long as the menu itself.

Staff super helpful and friendly. Rooms have been recently refurbished. Very comfortable bed, liked the room style. Good to have an iron in the room. Bar and restaurant good.

The floorboards were really creaky so caused a bit of a disturbed sleep when people were passing the room. Room was a bit hot so maybe some fans for use would also be good.

I was only on the premises for an overnight stay. So difficult to form opinions about what was good in terms of facilities. Receptionist was friendly, lass that served me in the bar was a little bit curt I felt.

Stairs were hard work ,especially after a long journey. In the bar , I wasn't able to simply charge my pint to my room, when they already had my bank details from booking. Would have been a real pain if I had left my Debit card up in my room. Bed was too bouncy for my liking.

The room was a good size and very clean. We stayed here 10 years ago, and it is vastly improved. Clean, bright and comfortable rooms. The bar and restaurant area are lovely and welcoming and the honestly the breakfast was one of the best I've had. Staff were very friendly and nothing was a bother.

The only issue was the water pressure in the shower was pretty poor, nice and hot but not much power at all.

location a little noisy from passing people going to takeaway opposite. flooring in roo. very creaky I would say a little understaffed left waiting at check in..at dinner for table same at breakfast due to staff doing other duties not because they not attentive
