Hampton Inn Gretna - Smith Mountain Lake

Facilities are newer or updated. Room was generally clean, bed was comfortable and window had a nice view of the valley. Breakfast was awesome.

The floors were dirty. Not visible dirt, but if you walked around bare foot or with light colored socks, your feet got really dirty really quick. Hard surfaces need mopped more often, especially the bath. I still give this place a high rating as this is common in most hotels. With everything else being so nice, was hoping this would be better.

Two most important things for me when staying at a hotel is the cleanliness and the friendly/helpfulness of the staff. Both are A++.

I believe the breakfast could be a bit better. The bacon was delicious. The eggs seemed like they weren't real eggs or else they have been cooked way ahead of time… Fruit wasn't fresh. But frankly--none of this was a big deal to us--i'm only answering this question honestly because it's being asked here. For reference, We ate breakfast at 7:30.

The breakfast bar had a variety of items to chose from which I liked. The were ample spots in the parking lot to park and it was also clean. Easy access from the front or back of the main floor.

My only dislike was that the door to my room had been forced open at some point and was damaged and never repaired. The tool markings were visible and the door was no longer aligned with the door jam. There was a large gap from the bottom of the door to just above the door handle and lock.

The room and facilities were high quality, clean and fairly new. It was surprising to find a property this nice in a community of about 1,300 people! It is right off of highway 29 so it was very convenient for us for the trip we were on. The staff was professional and very friendly. We would highly recommend this hotel.

The only down side - it was a bit pricey as $137.00 a night. We picked this place because it was right on the route we were traveling, even though there were other choices at a lower price off the beaten path. We felt better about the choice when we saw how nice the hotel was.

Breakfast was amazing! There were waffles, sausage, biscuits, eggs, cereal, and so much more. I actually had two breakfast meals as it was delicious. Hampton Inn is impressive with their meals. Also, love there is coffee and hot water accessible all day long. Hotel room were recently updated. Will stay at this Hampton Inn in the future.

Nothing that staff could do, but guests in room directly above walked around sounding like a herd of elephants! Guests (staff for outside contractors)in other rooms in close proximity to me were noisy until late at night. Not that adults should be reminded of such things, but the employees of these companies could maybe remind them that "they are not at home"!

I liked the location. Even though it is in the country, it had stores and restaurants. The employees were really nice. Heather and Pat really go above and beyond for you.

Facilities were very clean, staff was super friendly. I was traveling with family and they took the time to make Micky Mouse pancakes for the little ones. Attention to detail matters!

Its about 30 mins away from any retail shopping

The building in general

The w, we did indow blind did not close completely and did not roll up. A 12 volt light attached near window was inoperable because someone had yanked the wire apart. The TV, unless left on,, had to be disconnected from AC power and the box to reboot it, per hotel attendant. She said she had to do it daily in that hotel with the new smart TVs. Since v we did not want anyone in the room doing repairs, we reported these problems to the front desk and at checkout.

We loved how clean our room was. Also enjoyed the furnishings of the room.

Didn’t like/appreciate the location/setting of the pool. I was disappointed that the company didn’t supply the needed items to complete the breakfast offered. There was no waffle mix, potatoes, few bagels, etc.
