Over my many years of having travelled to the North East on my business trips from my Lancashire base, I have always stayed at Jurys in Gateshead or Newcastle. This time (Sunday night just gone) I thought I would try your Marriott hotel at Gateshead Metro Centre for a change. Wow! What a very pleasant surprise. The hotel looks smashing, the bedroom I had (526) was very comfortable and importantly for me, the room had a bath and the water was piping hot. (It's always luke warm in Jurys Gateshead, something I have told them about previously, it's a permanent problem there, not good). Your Marriott staff I met/dealt with couldn't have been nicer/more helpful. The guy in the breakfast room (young tall chap) was so good and polite and business trips apart, with my Son now being a Dental Surgeon at the Freeman hospital in Newcastle, I will in future being staying at your lovely hotel in future. Thanks very much Marriott. (I also stayed for Two nights last week on business at your Marriott Hanbury Manor hotel in Ware Hertfordshire so Marriott you have converted me now! All the best.

The bath / shower was hard to access bordering on dangerous. There needs to be a further grab bar at the end of the bath as clearly previous people had used the towel rack which was hanging off the wall. The shower itself was not very powerful which meant trying to stand closer to the shower head and on the curved edge/base of the bath which was dangerous. That said I reported this and the staff were happy to forward this on. The location is nice but a bit of a trek from the station. 🤔

The pool is excellent and was nice and warm. The family room was a lovely size with two queen beds. The cleaners made a lovely job of our room. We love the location of this hotel and would stay again but without breakfast next time.

The breakfast was very poor and we had to ask for bread, butter and glasses for the juices. Mushrooms and black pudding are available on request. Our second morning we asked but they were forgotten so we didn’t bother. It seemed the staff were reluctant to replenish the food. I asked to change table at breakfast to be told that they were setting up for dinner.

We have stayed at the Delta Marriott before and loved it then. The reception staff met us with a cheerful smile and welcomed us to the hotel. Our room was lovely, clean and aired, had a great nights sleep on a comfy bed, loved the size of the tv. Had breakfast each morning, it’s the only hotel we have stayed it that we can guarantee hot food.

I did find it strange that the bar seemed to be short of half pint glasses, not that it mattered but felt sorry for the staff who kept apologising. It certainly didn’t spoil our night and it wouldn’t deter us staying again,

Check could have been more friendly. This hotel used to be more personable before Delta took them over. I arrived around 4.45pm, reception had to check if my room was ready..... So after a long day visiting my clients in the NE I wasn't particularly enamoured by having to wait. I had already paid for a room upgrade too. The receptionist didn't ask if I want to add an amount to my room either, I ordered room service, and had to pay there and then, instead of paying at check out. Maybe, next time I will stay at the Hilton in Gateshead, which in time, is only around 15 minutes away. Please take this review as constructive, I enjoy the Marriot, however feel lessons need to be learnt.

Clean, beautifully presented. The room was well stocked with towels, toiletries and tea and coffee facilities. Everything was exceptional. Upon our arrival there was an issue with our room we were booked into - when the staff at reception were notified of this, they were so attentive and fast to resolve the problem. We were given complimentary drinks in their bar while the staff arranged for us to go into a different room and went to the efforts of double checking the new room met our requirements. It couldn’t have been dealt with any better.

Great location close to Metro Centre, car park, professional friendly staff, room was immaculate, breakfast options were good. Despite the hotel being fully booked, we had a peaceful stay.

Price was a little expensive. However, i expect this was due to rooms being in high demand that weekend for concerts. Restaurant would have benefited from a thorough clean around floor edges, but again, I expect this was due to the high volume of guests during the period we stayed. I don't have any complaints, would highly recommend this hotel, and I would return again.

Good sized room, and flexible booking (going from 3-4 occupancy during our stay). Very helpful and friendly staff. Great breakfast (kids ate free!). Nearby Metrocentre had everything we could possibly need (so we ate there twice, visited supermarket, and even had a haircut and a rock-climbing session).

Not that well located or connected by public transport when it comes to Newcastle city centre and main sights. Although this isn't a problem if you have a car, friends with a car, or are happy to use ride-share services.

Breakfast had plenty of choice,staff very polite and pleasant,never showed any stress,resulting in a relaxed experience,enjoyed pool and sauna facilities.Bar area spotless.Room had superking comfy bed ,large TV,powerful shower ,thou a little dated but well kept

To be honest there wasn’t any issue with the hotel. The staff in all areas showed respect and professionalism in their roles, the room it’s self was quiet on a night we slept right till breakfast time without been woken by other visitors or traffic

This hotel is ideally located for shopping, it is situated on the edge of town so it is nice and quiet as there are no nightclubs around so it's ideal for a relaxing weekend away. The rooms in the hotel are spacious with everything you need. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone and I would definitely return maybe next time I would book a few treatments at the spa.

It's not what I didn't like it's more of I think it could be better, and that's the swimming pool and jacuzzi. The pool was great for kids and teens as it was only 1.5 meters deep, the water was rather cold as was the water in the jacuzzi plus in order to have the water bubble you have to wade through the pool to get out and push a button on the wall to make it start.
