Staff were wonderful. Richard and Maureen are brilliant. Breakfast was excellent and there was a coffee machine in the bedroom..

Unfortunately, there were emergency repairs to the pool for the 10 days we were there, it was out of use. Three of the bedrooms were having a much needed redecoration, so lots of workmen starting early each morning. Not the fault of the hotel. The extra large bed was two single mattresses together with a quilt rolled up to fill the gap in the middle and a soft sponge topper which made the bed impossibly soft and squidgy. Pillows were rock hard. It's a lovely place, we were just unlucky with weather and circumstances at the Casa. I would recommend it to anyone

Great boutique hotel in a lovely quiet location. Very close to the ferry that takes 10 minutes to reach Valletta. Situated in one of the “old cities” where there are quiet narrow streets to explore as well as stunning churches and st Angelo’s fort. Small swimming pool on the roof with amazing views. A buffet breakfast which combines some traditional British breakfast aspects with traditional continental . Beautifully decorated throughout. Rooms are spacious. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate provided. Staff are helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay here again and would certainly recommend.

Casa Birmula is a lovely hotel. Very comfortable and characterful and with very welcoming and helpful staff. From the moment we booked, Mariella kept us in touch and helped us to manage our stay even arranging for our hotel transfer. Our room was full of character, large and very comfortable (although, as is often the case in Europe) the bed was a little hard for me! The rooftop terrace and pool are a bonus - the pool is small so you won't be practicing for your triathlon up there, it's really just to get in to cool down. The terrace is a lovely place to relax although there is no shade in the middle of the day. You are left to your own devices during the day so you can come and go as you please which suited us really well. Breakfast is served downstairs and after a couple of days we decided to skip it as I'm never hungry in the morning. We left a note to that effect and Mariella got in touch to check everything was ok - it was, but I didn't want to keep not turning up as the hotel has very few rooms and the food would have been wasted. This attention to detail and customer service confirmed my thoroughly positive view of Casa Birmula.

-The views from the roof terrace were great. -Maureen was very kind and helpful. -Everyday room was perfectly cleaned -Everything is pretty decorated and taken care of -There is a lift. -Pretty good breakfast, you can ask for warm things, such as scrambled egg or beans. -The terrace in our room was quite big. -Close to the bus stop.

You should be prepared that the dresser is not big enough to fit the clothes of two people, if you are staying for a week or more, like us, so you will likely have to store your things in a suitcase, but it is understandable as the room is not so big

Clean, comfortable room with window overlooking front. Nice bathroom with great shower. Comfy bed, TV, coffee machine and aircon included. Plus a nice breakfast with a lovely chap cooking scrambled eggs to order. Location is only a 5 minute walk to the Valetta ferry which takes about 10 mins. The roof terrace was great to sit on when returning from a day out with a drink All the staff were so friendly and helpful. My husband was given a bottle of prosecco to celebrate a big birthday which was a lovely thought. Glad we picked this hotel as a great base for exploring the 3 Cities and Valetta.

Due to bad weather the pool was closed as they had to do some emergency work. But it was open on the last day of our visit once the work was done and the staff offered their apologies.

Hotel was absolutely lovely! Enjoyed our room on two floors very much, had the best sleep and breakfast was really good. Roof terrace with pool was really cool and has nice views. We also enjoyed the location - easy access to public transport and used our favorite way of commuting with sea taxi to Valletta (taxi stop was just a short walk from the hotel). Area surrounding the hotel is definitely worth to explore. Lovely streets, sea side front, yachts, places to eat and Malta at war museum (was really cool to visit the air raid shelters). Would definitely recommend this hotel!

Nice building, lot of character. Location is good, 5 minutes walk to Valetta ferry across pedestrian bridge. Staff very nice. Good breakfast, lots of water outside rooms, shared fridge located next to rooftop. The rooftop is very nice to chill day or night, have a glass of wine etc. Pool was clean, small but good for a dip. €20 euro taxi to airport at night, €10 euro during the daytime. Birgu is nice to see.

Nothing really.... a few observations though.....Our room was small, but the bathroom was spacious and modern. Maybe more ice cube trays in shared fridge for cold drinks. Not on a direct bus route to airport but taxi's are cheap in malta (or Bolt).

what a gorgeous building, super friendly & helpful staff & perfect location! With a quick walk across the bridge to the ferry stop, or 2 mins walk to the bus stop you’re in the perfect location to explore the island & Valetta. we wouldn’t stay anywhere else again. the team are so kind and warm!

The Pool was useable but there was maintenance/ work being done which we weren’t informed about so it was super dusty and a little dangerous on the steps to get in. if we’d know we could have prepared a little better and I think warning signs would be helpful.

Stunning 400 year old building. Comfortable air conditioned rooms to escape the hot hot sun. Gorgeous roof terrace with rooftop pool overlooking stunning views and an extra special sunset.

The only criticism I have that we didn’t stay longer. The hotel itself I have zero negative comments.

This hotel definitely has lovely characters. with advance payment, checking in and out of hotel is just simple and convenient. it’s in a lovely area, right by a beautiful university building and bus stop if you don’t mind going into Valletta with a bit of detour. Paola area we saw on our bus drive looked lovely! The hotel is clean, tucked in a quiet street but right by a main(?) road that is convenient for bus and also to walk along the waterfront. Breakfast options were just right for us. We stayed one night here and I’d say it’s perfect for those who are there for a city break. although we didn’t really get to enjoy it, there’s a rooftop and a small, intimate pool, too!

The ‘family’ room we had didn’t really feel like a family room. The sofa in the living room area was opened up and was made as a bed, which meant that the living room area was just another bedroom with hardly any space to open our suitcases comfortably. for one night, it was ok but we wouldn’t stay here for more than 1 night as a family (2adults and 1 teenager). The balcony isn’t really a balcony to sit on and enjoy. you can open the long ‘windows’ and take a small step outside but that’s it- a tiny 1 person-standing area. The lift didn’t work when I got to the rooftop, which was a little scary at night.
