Holiday Inn Express Bilbao Airport, an IHG Hotel

I took the 5 am shuttle so had no time for more than coffee and orange juice. But the restaurant which is only adjacent and not a part of the hotel was important in my stay. I had a very nice lunch on Monday after 2 (Pollo and mushrooms) and a good evening at the bar Monday evening. I had a beer and was about to leave (9;15 pm) when I struck up a fine conversation with an Austrian tourist group leader. He has stayed at the Holiday Inn Express numerous times but this time was in the new (?) one across the field. The Urbe is an asset even if not a part.

Booking did the booking. I wasn't aware I was dealing with them at first. They did a good job, but their email link to the hotel is flawed. I had an earlier booking (in Bordeaux) with Booking, and whenI tried to email with that hotel I was given the address for Bilbao. Given automatically with no way of correcting. When I tried to email you about my arrival and departure (important for reserving a place on the 5 am shuttle), I was told that that way of communicating was blocked. Apparently because I had not used it before. I should complain to Booking but I won't make the effort.

Convenient and pleasant hotel in proximity to the airport, Practical solution for overnight before a morning flight out of Bilbao. Free and uncomplicated parking for the rental car. Nice third-party restaurant next to hotel's entrance. The room was simple and clean. Breakfast is light but was sufficient for us for a small morning bite

We were a party of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids and the room is a bit tight for such a group, however we managed ourselves pretty well for this one night so it's not a real downside of the property itself just a point to notice in case one needs visibly more space booking 2 rooms would help.

nice, clean and modern. nice breakfast that starts early enough to catch before the first shuttle to the airport. the restaurant next door is also perfect for dinner without having to leave the hotel. however the highlight of our stay was one receptionist, Miguel. His smile made us feel welcome right away, and he really went out of his way to give us a great experience even during the short time we were there. he gave us some fabulous recommendations for getting the best views of Bilbao, which honestly gave our trip the perfect ending. thanks again Miguel! :)

The location is excellent, not only for the airport but also for getting into the city as there is a very good free shuttle service between the hotel and airport and then an excellent value/fast bus service (€3) between the airport and Bilbao. The hotel is comfortable and clean and the breakfast was good. It's good value for an airport hotel. The staff were efficient, friendly and helpful.

The bedroom walls are "thin", which means you could hear quite a lot from the other rooms, such as alarms and conversations. I could hear both sides of a telephone conversation quite clearly from the next room. May be an issue if you were a light sleeper.

excellent location for an early flight the next day -5 minute shuttle to airport. breakfast looked like it was good (they were going to have a tortilla -my favorite!) but it didn’t open until 5 when we were leaving for the airport. however, they had the cold items ready so offered us those before we left (sliced meats and cheeses, yogurts, breads) plus juices and coffee, so that was a very nice unexpected bonus.

the bed was very hard. the room was comfortable otherwise.

inchek ,with the personal. always a issue about visa card. its not nice ,when you pay everything already. with IDEAL.. you confirm ,accept the rulez.. than you come ,and they teach you like classe.. (no sir the 3 numbers of youre card..repeat.. repeat repeat.. come one go find an other job. and after younget angry,everytging is ok.. bit the feeling of hollyday is gone by one non diplomate person behind the bali.reception. and dont thinking that ,you drived 14hrs from holland . this has to change ....

Very convenient to airport. Clean, very comfortable room (I appreciated the bathtub for a good soak after traveling for 2 days). Friendly and helpful staff. Seemed like the breakfast had a lot of variety and healthy options, although I just had coffee.

Not a complaint, but worth knowing that if you come in late the shuttle does not run all night. I had to wait a good half hour for a taxi and there is a minimum charge of 10 euros just to go the short distance of 1 km.

This is the perfect place to stay for an early flight. It was comfortable, and they are well organized to accommodate travelers. The first free shuttle leaves at 520 AM and it takes just 5 minutes to get to the airport. (Contact them to reserve places to assure there is room). Breakfast is available at 5AM and is surprisingly good (bread, pastries, hard boiled eggs/cheese/meats, yogurt, juice, coffee etc)--they even have bags you can pack food to take with you if your don't have an appetite yet. Beds and room--while not up to date stylish--comfortable.

Room is dark, could be updated. There is nothing else around there, nothing else to do, no significant lobby area to relax in, and nowhere to take a walk. There is an attached restaurant which has the usual awkward Spanish hours. And there is a bar in the hotel lobby. So it's not a place you'd stay if you weren't coming or going from the Bilbao airport, but is perfect for that.

Breakfast was a sort of continental/Spanish buffet which included tortilla but not bread with jamón and fresh tomato. The juices were not fresh. The room was great, spacious, well decorated, with a nice good sized bathroom. Staff were friendly and the 12 o´clock check out was a plus.

We had to go and retrieve a set of towels which had not been placed in our room and the restaurant would not send dinner to our room because they claim a group came just when we called. We used a local restaurant to deliver some nice home made burgers and chips instead. Also, for some reason the buffet looks into a car park. In such a lovely location I would have thought they could have used one of the higher floors to provide a mountain view, which would have been stunning.

The staff was very friendly. The breakfast was good. The dinner in the restaurant also was good.

We are using this hotel in the last 3 months for 4th time but despite our several comments - they still not organized yet shuttle bus after 22.45PM which create a many problems because we always need to wait almost 45 minutes for taxi at the airport. This hotel is called "airport hotel". This meaning that the shuttle bus should be 24/7.
