The location was lovely, overlooking the sea. The hotel is only recently refurbished so everything is fresh and of good quality. The room was a good size and comfortable. We booked a room with a balcony which was well worth the extra. Nice touches in the room- a Nepresso machine as well as a kettle, home made jammy dodgers and both still and sparkling water. Storage is adequate, the shower is excellent and bathrobes provided. We ate in the restaurant, which was good and there is also a bar menu. Parking is free for residents and there is a very good and frequent bus service into Brighton from right outside the hotel. Staff were helpful and friendly.

The location of White Horses is wonderful! Right on the beach! We booked a room with sea view and balcony and it was perfect. The room was very tastefully decorated and comfortable. Little touches made it special. There was a delicious welcome home made flapjack. I liked that in the barhroom, the shower controls were directly as you entered the shower, and not under the nozzle, so possible to start it running without getting soaked . Sitting on the balcony with a drink in the evening watching the sun go down was a treat. The theme of the decor throughout the hotel is 1930s/40s ocean liner and it is of a very high quality. The menu in the restaurant was both creative and also offered traditional favorites like fish and chips. Everything we tried was very good. All staff we met were friendly, relaxed and helpful. We will be going back when we next need to recharge our batteries.

Really beautifully refurbished old beachfront pub/hotel in a good spot for Rottingdean beach. Very nice receptionist, free parking, and the bar has a beautiful terrace with a sea view. Lovely handmade biscuits on arrival.

I feel bad to point it out because the hotel staff were so nice, but I was a bit shocked to see such bad damp on our bedroom and bathroom wall. I understand that it’s a hard problem to fix but I just didn’t expect to see lots of paint bubbling and flaking off the walls in this type of luxury property. Also, the TV didn’t work, although to be fair we didn’t discover that until we were in bed so we didn’t give them the chance to fix it. Service wasn’t great in the bar, with lots of tables left uncleared. But despite these things, we had a nice time overall.

Spotlessly clean, recently refurbished to high standard. Decor pleasing to the eye and and good quality bed linen and fluffy towels. Enjoyed the food, and sea view from restaurant and terrace bar. Parking available, but also convenient for coastal buses, with stop right outside. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

We didn’t pay the extra for a sea view and our room overlooked the road, which was very busy day and night. We had to keep windows closed at night to shut out the noise, and the fan didn’t keep the room cool enough to sleep well. A pedestal fan would have worked better, or one each side of the bed. No fridge in the room.

We loved the decor - a modern take on art deco, with a dash of mid-century modern and a subtle hint of coastal style, mostly in the interesting selection of pictures on the wall. Everything is immaculate, as if it had just been refurbished.

Sunday morning breakfast buffet was open until 10:30, but when we arrived at 9:30, some things like yogurt and preserves had run out and were not refilled. It was a beautiful summer day and it would have been lovely to sit outside on the terrace overlooking the sea, but all the tables were reserved. They remained empty for the whole time we were there. My last gripe is about the coffee. They charged extra, on top of the continental breakfast. It took ages to arrive and was just a small cup. I have a large mug on my way to work, for the same price. So this felt a bit miserly.

nicely refurbished rooms but very expensive for a single person in a nice double room. Perhaps you could consider single person reduction? Staff visible, friendly and helpful - such an improvement on the previous administration Very good breakfast

the bedside lights are poorly designed - very difficult to reach and find from the bed without risk of falling out! the toplight window above the balcony door needs to be able to be opened if one wants fresh air rather than air conditioning at night. I had to prop open the balcony door and am not sure how secure this is.

Location was good near the beach. Room was good size with a comfy bed Shower very good. Tea making facilities good and bottled water appreciated! Very nice dining area with lovely big windows to look out to the sea. Very good terrace with lots of furniture. A warm welcome by the lady at check in with useful information of local area and buses.

We had eggs for breakfast. The portion was only just sufficient. The piece of toast was very small and we both had scrambled eggs and think there was probably 3 eggs between the two of us. Also maybe a little greenery or tomato / mushroom on the side to improve the presentation.

Food in the evening was good …. Was expecting a bit pricey and it was … breakfast food was good but again overpriced

Service at restaurant table was slow … worse at breakfast had to go to look for help to get coffee and someone to take our breakfast order after nearly an hour of waiting …. Coffee came swiftly after we were able to order but waiter assigned to our table service was poor he wouldn’t engage and get on with it. A bit frustrating although we were in no hurry and enjoying the sunshine outside it could have been a different story had we needed to check out early.

Stylish decor, beautifully decorated. We felt as though we were on a 1930s liner! Wonderfully welcoming and friendly staff. Such a comfortable bed! Nice touch having the chef made biscuits. Altogether a really enjoyable experience!

We would have liked a mirror in the bedroom to do makeup, with a small shelf under. My noodle salad was absolutely wonderful and fresh and I had it with the chicken but I do feel it would have been easier and nicer to eat chopped up and mixed in rather than me doing it myself although I loved the flavours of the dish.

The staff were very attentive and helpful. Though the menu was not extensive, the restaurant catered for my gluten free diet for dinner and breakfast. Parking was easy and the hotel was comfortable and very pleasant.

Room 105 was noisy, not just because it overlooked a road junction but because the restaurant extractor was beneath the window and was on all the time from 6.30am until almost 11pm at night. It was very noisy if the you opened the window and as it was warm, you needed to do that as the room fan was not adequate.
