View from room was spectacular across the hills but next morning we were in a cloud and saw nothing. 1st room was chilly because electric radiator did not work, changed our room without question, eevn offered us the suite but that too as it was large was chilly and would have taken time to warm up. At breakfast scrambled egg was available as the norm but was offered fried & poached if required.

Car park was a bit small and nearly all spaces were taken by conference guests, badly parked + a walk to reception was a middle distance but in the rain and with luggage it was not a pleasant experience.

Very dog friendly. The room was dog themed which made us smile and had a little balcony to the outside with magnificent views. Loved the way that the fires were all lit making the place feel so inviting. It’s a lovely place in a beautiful setting. And the staff were lovely. Very friendly and helpful.

In what would otherwise have been a perfect stay, the breakfast let it down a little. It wasn't particularly hot and the mushrooms were cold, not making it as appetising as it could have been. Also, no butter or plates for the toast. Shame as everything else was spot on and it’s the only reason I can’t give it a 10. But we’ll be back.

Absolutely stunning location and the view from our room was amazing! Cosy and very comfortable and you can't beat a log fire in the cold! Helpful and friendly staff; can't name them all as no name badges... Locally sourced products appreciated; the complimentary shortbread biscuits in the room were divine and the bathroom products and the story behind them was uplifting and they smelt like high end products. The breakfast was delicious with a wide choice that would suit everyone and set us up for the day.

Just small points; The views were let down slightly by the cleanliness of the windows in the dining room with a few cobwebs.... The lighting in the room was very subtle and cosy but I was not able to do close work that I had taken with me.

Adore the New House and always book here when we are back in Cardiff. The location is stunning , gardens and views just wow and he house itself is charming and welcoming and oh so comfortable. Rooms are spacious and beds blissfully comfortable with lovely quality bedding. Spotlessly clean What really really made our stay special was the team there! Every single member of staff were brilliant and special shout out to the fabulous Evan front of house who welcomed us and went the extra mile in helping with and early check in and even finding me paracetamol when I needed. Second about out to the equally fabulous Alex - kindness personified and also funny and generous with her tips for “over indulgence” . See you soon x thankyou for making an emotional and sad trip back for a beloved friends funeral, so much easier for us.

We wanted a twin bedded room - with a view. No room "with a view" was available when I booked, but when we arrived arrangements had been made to accommodate our request. Thank you . Also because our stay coincided with one of the hottest days/nights pf the year, I asked if a fan could be provided,. It was!! so full marks , there. And I asked for a history of the house - which was sent through via my e-mail.

To describe fruit salad as "fruit salad" is technically correct when it is presented out of a tin. But I would have preferred some tinned prunes, peaches or plums. Or merely fresh fruit - apples, oranges, bananas. Or anything in season? Alternatively, mix the tinned stuff with chopped up fresh fruits.

The room was lovely apart from when drying my hair noticed thick dust on the dressing table mirror feature. It had not be cleaned for sometime. But the rest of the room lovely.

Booked on booking.com. No mention room only. At check in nothing said that breakfast was not included. Went for breakfast where we were asked our room number and the girl marked us off on her sheet. Still no mention that we needed to pay extra. Then at check out asked for £31 so £15.50 per head. Breakfast was not the best anyway. Only scrambled egg offered and tastless sausages. So very disappointed a real let down.

Lovely building in picturesque location, huge room and bathroom, decor in keeping with building age & style, comfortable bed and good shower, breakfast was delicious and plentiful with lots of choices and good coffee. Only stayed one night for nearby wedding at golf club which was about 3 min taxi ride away - busy winding road tho so wouldnt walk. Lots of parking close to hotel. Staff called taxi for us twice & were happy to do so. Staff were lovely & friendly on reception, at breakfast & the cleaners that we saw in the morning. The terrace looking out over countryside is a beautiful spot. Very lovely hotel.

Nothing to dislike !

The hotel was stunning and in a beautiful location. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Our room was gorgeous- huge with a super comfortable extra large bed. Bathroom large and very clean with large towels. The bonus was the delightful large balcony with marvellous views down to Cardiff and the Bristol Channel. We had a delicious vegetarian dinner and the vegetarian breakfast was also great. The icing on the cherry for us was the bay for free charging of electric cars overnight with room for at least 6 cars. It made our journey the next day very easy. I can safely say it’s the nicest hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like.

Loved the serenity of the hotel, a real escape. The space in the rooms, the grounds. The beds were very comfortable The shower was amazing, and the bathroom was a lovely size. Lovely seating area inside and out of bedroom. Ideal with kids. The views of Cardiff were beautiful. The housekeeping staff were lovely and it was nice having a laugh with them. The breakfast staff were so cheery and chatty and our son was so relaxed. The staff upon check out were nice too.

The steps with bags to the ground floor bedrooms. Pity we only booked one night. It would have been nice if there was music in the restaurant to create a little ambiance.

We were driving from London to Cardiff and really wanted to stay in a beautiful hotel that wasn't in the heart of Cardiff. Luckily, I found this beautiful hotel up on a hill overlooking Cardiff about 20 minutes away. Built in an old estate, the New House Country Hotel is truly magnificent. We were originally only going to spend one night there but after I saw it - I extended the stay to 2 days which the staff were luckily able to do for us. We had one of the larger suites (Superior Double Room) that had a nice big, comfy bed, a sitting room and a really large bathroom with 2 sinks, a separate shower and a nice big bathtub. It also had 2 heated towel racks, which was really nice. The staff were all very friendly and made lots of recommendations to us for meals, and things to see. One of them even suggested that we drive to Caerphilly Castle and park our car there and take the train to Cardiff, which is exactly what we did and were very appreciative of it. The patio out front is really large and has a covered area, but we sat out by the fountain and marvelled at the impressive views of Cardiff and the rolling countryside. Our room was very quiet and nice and dark at night. Sometimes there are wedding parties that might come through so it might be a little noisier then. Breakfasts were huge and plentiful and very tasty. We had dinner there our first night and it was really quite delicious and not too expensive. Compared to London, everything in Cardiff is downright cheap - this room was $219 (Canadian Dollars) per night and truly worth every cent. If we ever return to Wales this is the ONLY hotel that we would even think of staying at!! Highly Recommended!!

There was nothing at all that we didn't like about this place!
