Lovely country pub/restaurant, in an isolated location but only 15 minutes from the M20 and very handy for the Eurotunnel. The area is really attractive and looked great for walking, though sadly we didn't have time and the weather was horrible! Very friendly, and efficient, staff. Big, beautifully furnished and decorated, and very comfortable, room. Fantastic food. Excellent value overall. We particularly liked the fridge of milk on the landing, and the supply of tea and coffee that doesn't assume, as so many places do, that you only want one cup!

A bit of noise from the bar late into the evening, and from traffic in the early morning. I'm not a fan of baths in bedrooms, though some people are (and in fairness in an old building it's hard to see how a separate bathroom could have been fitted in).

Had the pleasure of staying here last night, our stay was so amazing I had to write a review immediately. We booked through Booking.com after a recommendation from a friend whom we was visiting for a 40th. We arrived to check in @ 3pm & was greeted by a friendly smiley barman, whilst he sorted our room & took up our cases, we sat outside in the lovely beer garden with a cold glass of vino. Our double room was a little smalll but it had everything we needed, including a fan (it was a hot bank holiday weekend). Great facilities, thoughtful finishing touches & toiletries. Bed was extremely comfortable & had the best nights sleep. Breakfast was cooked to perfection & there was a great selection on offer. Coffee was amazing! Our waitress was ever so friendly & helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. We didn’t want to leave however, we will definitely be going back for dinner when we next visit our friend. Thank you so much for our wonderful stay x

I loved the look and location; proper old fashioned looking country pub. Loved the decor. It had obviously been updated, but it was completely sympathetic with the ethos of a very old inn. There were a lot of recycled items used, brilliantly. I really loved almost all of the decoration and coziness

I didn't like my bathroom. It was too small and separated from the bedroom by only a partition; ie--- no privacy for strategic operations (when sharing obviously) I couldn't locate any bedside light that could be switched from the bedside Window needed to be cleaned and frame painted (it looked shabby) Hated the chandelier (personal taste!)

Amazing location with beautiful scenery. Gorgeous little pub. Super comfy beds! Partner took a picture to buy her own duvet 😅. The food was extremely good we both loved it! The staff were very helpful and friendly. Complimentary Port in the room was a very nice touch and it was really nice Port too! Bath is a perfect size.

The beams are very low but can’t really be helped being an old pub, plus I’m 6ft 3 so I was constantly ducking and did hit them a few times lol. The smell of the toilet seemed to come up through the floor after use but they close pretty early so that wasn’t a real issue unless you plan to spend all day in your room.

The welcome on arrival was spot on, we was greeted with smiles and showed to our room straight away. Plenty of lovely walks from the Inn around nature paths, and loads of local were happy to help us with any questions. We loved our stay here, and cannot wait to return in the future to stay in another one of the rooms.

The only negative we have to say is that, where the bed was older, it was very squeaky. Whilst this wasn't enough of a problem to be brought up on our stay - others may thing otherwise. Especially if they are a light sleeper.

It’s a gorgeous, thoughtfully put together pub with unique and beautiful rooms. Every aspect is just so pretty and high quality. Our room (Bacchus) was better than the pictures, and the lovely touches like the port & board games just made you feel they go the extra mile with details. The staff were all brilliant especially the manager and Simon who looked after us in the garden. The kitchen was busy and we had quite a wait for some simple sharing plates but Simon was on it and ensured we were looked after. He is born for hospitality, it was our first time but we instantly felt like old friends! And the food was honestly sensational! Worth the wait!

The wait for food, which truthfully was fine as we weren’t in a rush - but worth the team understanding how to better manage when then there’s a rush. I would hate for this to go against them in another scenario as the staff & food are truly fantastic. Maybe minor gripe, no shower in our particular room. We had a gorgeous bath and fine for one night but would want a shower for any longer. Also thick duvet on bed, wonderful in winter but a little heavy for summer! Also the WiFi could be a little better!

Warm welcome, friendly staff, private car park. The room was already lit and the radio was playing Christmas music, we couldn’t have felt more welcome! Lovely pub, lots of locals visiting, good food, nice staff, lots of tables. The room very comfy, big bed, nice bathtub and the complimentary port in the room finished it all off!

Since it’s an old building, you can hear the people downstairs. But at midnight the service was finished and the noise stopped immediately. But we can’t say it disturbed our night rest. Wish we could’ve stayed longer than the 1 night on our way to the southwest.

Lovely room and a very warm welcome. Excellent food and a great atmosphere in the restaurant. The decor in the room was lovely and the facilities were excellent.

The bathroom was a little too quirky for me. The lack of a shower and a bath that if I had got into it with my knees I would not have got out of did make it a bit of a compromise. The sinks were also very high for my wife. But it was clean and looked great! The bed was perhaps a little soft for our liking.

I cannot fault the Five Bells and I dream of the day I get to go back. Everything from start to finish was pure heaven and the staff were very attentive, professional and kind. I highly recommend booking wine tasting at Brabourne Vineyard - a very short walk away, and then back for dinner at the Five Bells. They have thought of everything from luxury toiletries to games in the room. We had the best time and I really cannot wait to return! The facilities were clean, it was peaceful and I slept like a baby!

I loved the radio and no TV. I also loved the room layout the intrinsic items, the fresh milk and the coffee machine. The copper bath transported me back 48 years to my grandma's house, although hers was in the parlour in front of the fire and was filled from an iron pot on the fire lol.

Need to re-check flooring as a couple of raised nails need bashing back down but it didn't detract from a great place.
