Kahler Grand Hotel

Excellent location, unbeatable. Pool is excellent. Cool art gallery in the relaxing mezzanine level. You can purchase the pieces.

Facilities are dated and many, not in a "charming" way but, rather, in In a "tired" way, except for the mezzanine and pool levels The rooms are like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get. Many of our friends stayed here at the same time, in various rooms. I had the opportunity to see rooms, ranging from a 2-person flop house-style room overlooking the security glass of the parking garage; to a deluxe, 2-room unit with impeccable updates--and many in-between. Good luck getting the right one!

Excellent location across from Mayo Clinic. Staff was courteous and accommodating our needs. The bed and pilliws wre very comfortable.

No housekeeping seevices the whoke stay due to Covid. We did get extra garbage bags, towels & hangers as needed.

They updated a lot of the rooms. Very nice. Some things like tub faucets and paint in bathrooms did not get done. Would be nice. Make sure to ask for a room not looking at roof though. And there's no AC in the room. Little stuffy

We've stayed a fee times now and are always given a room looking at the roof. We have to ask before we are given a room with a better view. Why they don't just do that to begin with? Book the others when they are all that's left. No AC in the rooms. Gets very stuffy and you can't open the windows.

I appreciated the updated room. The material used for the chair and headboard can be easily disinfected. The new bedding could also be easily cleaned. The window coverings were perfect, leaving light in, yet providing privacy. I was impressed with the end tables' cord opening and several plug-ins. The counter outside the bathroom was in an excellent location and the placement of the stool, sink and hardwood bathroom floors make for easy cleaning.

I was concerned with the possibility of slipping in the tub. With lathered soap during a shower, it could cause an accident, so the bar on the wall was well placed. However, an added gritty substance could alleviate the possibility of a fall.

the parking sucked (i had to crawl into the passer seat to the drivers seat to leave my parkin spot. Upon driving up to load my vehicle, these 2 old men pulled in front of me and took my spot, i had to drive around for 30 minutes before I could load my mom and her luggage into my vehicle. There is no bell hop or person to direct traffic or help with luggage for which I would have tripped handsomely for!!!! Evan when we requested help, it felled to show and after 10 minutes, I took all luggage to our room! I did not complain, and the hotel did send a complimentary glass of wine to my room but for those of us who do not drink, the offer was worthless.

front desk staff was extremely kind and knowledgeable. he was able to answer all of my questions and was very understanding. I’ve had an experience last year with a Kahler employee who was really rude and just not empathetic with Mayo patients. we had to really think hard before we booked it this time around because of our previous experience. we also liked the vicinity to Mayo.

no accessible elevator to the pool.

Convenient to Mayo Clinic and the hospital. Lots of shopping and restaurants close by. The subway levels and airwalks you can go most places without going out into the weather.

The shower in rooms was horrible. It would suddenly turn to cold water and then turn warm again. The other thing was the toilet. You had to flush it 2 or three times just to get a small amount of toilet paper down. The room was very dark. No place that was bright enough to put makeup on.

I liked the room, it was more than adequate for our needs. I took my sister for a medical appointment at the Mayo Clinic. We were very impressed with the ability to get from our room, through the "subway" to the clinic without ever having to go outside in the cold weather. The restaurant attached to the hotel was nice, the menu was somewhat limited, but also very adequate for our needs, great portions, and the food was very good, especially the bacon for breakfast. I really liked that the option for bathing was a step in shower.

At some point, all of the mattresses should be turned to make the wear on the sides of the beds more even. We had to request more towels, toilet tissue and facial tissue.

Across the street from Mayo and easy access to the Subway make The Kahler Grand a wonderful option.

There was some miscommunication as to how to make use of the parking I had paid for. At the parking ramp, there is nothing that explains how to use it if you paid at the front desk, so I used my card and would have gotten charged twice, but the staff cleared up for me. Parking was too expensive IMO.

I loved the fact that the Kahler Grand Hotel is steps away from the Mayo Clinic, making my office visits much less stressful and keeping me from having to brave the snow outside. My room was quiet, spacious, and comfortable.

When I first arrived I was given the key to a room that had not been cleaned--the bed was unmade and there was a key card left on the dresser. I called the front desk and they immediately offered me a different room that had been fully cleaned. I appreciate how the situation was handled, but it was quite the struggle lugging my stuff to one room, then the front desk, then to another room. Also, the telephone in my room was having issues and so when I tried to order room service, they realized that my phone was not working and sent someone to fix it. I was eventually able to order using my cellphone. Just a few inconveniences in a otherwise nice stay!
