Ostello Bello Lake Como

I loved this hostel! It’s in a great location, 5 minute walk from the train station and a 5 minute walk to the lake (and the ferry). The hostel has a really good vibe, the staff are so friendly and the other guests were also really nice whilst I was there. The hostel has lots of places to relax, including a secret garden. They have a bar that gets busy each night with travellers and locals. The staff put on activities each night which is a really good place to meet other people. They have a picnic in the park one evening and they also did a ‘family dinner’ where the staff cooked a mean for whoever wanted to attend. When I was there, over 30 people ate together which was great. The breakfast is pretty good - bread, croissants, cereals, yoghurt, meats, cheeses, eggs, coffee, juice etc. They also provide free coffee throughout the day which is a nice touch. Each bed has a big locker, a light and a socket to charge phones. I was in a dorm with 5 other people and we only had one bathroom but there was also a toilet outside the room so this was handy. Overall, I would really recommend staying at Ostello Bello Como!

My room was facing the bar area so it was sometimes quite loud when trying to sleep. This is expected in a hostel though and the noise stopped around 1am so not too late.

The vibes. The kitchen with all items free where you practice your cocking skills was great idea, the free coffee and banana with a warm smile from Alex and all the team, I was worried where to go then Alex advised with a great tour in the green line after two free shots of espresso ;) also the French lady for the free walking tour about the night market was great, room setup was good and people are wonderful, I loved the place and I’m going back again .. thanks Alex for being so great keep it up and all the staff

The storage room was self service with no control such as who takes what bags.. I was just given a key to open the door and put my stuff and leave but anyone could steal other bags maybe.

Staff were helpful, and someone helped me take my baggage to my room. I got help on finding my way around and figuring out the buses and ferries with the free hostel map. It was nice to have pasta and sauce available to cook myself at night. The place was bright and clean.

I do prefer lockers that slide under the bed as it's easier to organize your bags and clothing that way. The ones in the hostel were skinny upright ones so you had to take out your whole suitcase and lay it down to get anything out. At breakfast there were not enough cups available and the hot water dispenser only had luke warm water for tea. I had to ask for hot water. The place for storing your luggage when you checked out was not secure - it was just a sectioned off area on the stairs, which anyone could have lifted a case out of. It was not in view of the check in staff so no-one was watching it either.

Fantastic location, rooms and surroundings very clean and tidy, clean and good quality bedsheet, comfortable bed, nice and helpful staff, lovely and affordable breakfast, there is a free drink offered at arrival , there is a very good supermarket open ( 24/7) next to the hostel; very handy! I loved the fact that in the kitchen, they offer free pasta ( gluten free as well) and fresh vegetables for the guests to use; I find this very thoughtful :) Also, there is a clothing rail exposed ( with forgotten items) and you can either take whatever you need, or leave the items you don't need anymore. Very sweet, well done !

I did not like the fact that i need to touch the bin lid in the kitchen ( i personally never do ) and i believe pedal bins would've been a better choice. A OCD like me is very conscious with those things :) There is a lot of people coming in and out as the big gate is always open during the day, there is no security at the entrance and even if the place has security cameras everywhere, it is quite hard to determine who is a guest and who is the 'intruder'. For security reasons, i will suggest to provide a colourful bracelet to the hostel guests so it would be easy to identify the external person. Also, a stapler and Sellotape it is always handy to have in reception ;)

This place is an incredible hostel! Highly recommend staying here- the staff are super friendly and helpful, they have a large stocked kitchen, plenty of places to hang out and meet people (we loved the secret garden) , and even a free welcome drink at the bar :) we extended our stay here because we enjoyed it so much. In addition, it’s only a 6 minute walk to the train station from which you can go anywhere you would want around Lake Como, and the hostel has lots of great recommendations for you to explore! There’s also a 24/7 grocery store right around the corner so it’s easy to have a night in and cook if you’re trying to save a little money. If you’re headed to Lake Como, stay here!!

Really cool location, great staff and facilities.

Best hostel I've been to in Italy so far. The atmosphere is great + they literally have everything you need at the reception - even silly little things like mosquito spray you've forgotten! 😄 A big plus is also that things like towels are free, which is very unusual for hostels. Events are happening every night, which makes it super easy to meet and connect with other travellers. 11/10 and big hugs to the entire crew - you're an absolute delight to be around. You make this place. Till next time!

The bed was a little squeaky, but nothing major that would disrupt my sleep

It was a really nice hostel. The atmosphere was amazing. The design of the hostel is so nice with a lot of common areas and even a garden where you can chill. The staff was very kind and helped you with all your questions. The rooms were also very spacious. Furthermore most extra facilities as towels, shampoo, Powerbank, etc were all free to use. The location was nice since most important things were at most a 10 minute walk. They had also a kitchen with some free pasta and vegetables to use which was nice.

The beds made a little noise when moving, especially when you were in one of the upper beds. The breakfast was good but nothing more than that, it was quite basic. The hostel was quite expensive.

So nice place to stay, very animated, friendly staf, safety environment, perfect placement, nice huge kitchen with terrasse. Green place with flowers and some aromatic spices on the balcony and windiws, especially on the terrace. So cute and authentic place to stay. So nice people to meet here..evetytine I am lucky to meet here so extraordinary and welcome people from around the world. Specially in the room for the women I appreciated the table for make up. Everybody find their place here. The douche cabine is rather huge in comparison with others hostel. Recommended! Absolutely must come back again.
