It has a great location in Mexico City, in a beautiful iconic building and staff in general are very nice. The service manager very kindly offered to let me ckeck-in earlier when I explained I was arriving in a very early flight. But I arrived a lot earlier, around 4 am and had to pay an extra fee to be able e to check-in at that hour. I was too tired from a long flight to wait so many hours to get my room. In any case I appreciate her offer of letting me check-in at 10:00 am when check-in time is normally at 3:00 pm.
It is a very big hotel and it is quite expensive. I think as a courtesy to guests the rooms should have coffee machines like many other lower-brand hotels do. Guests can ask for a Nesspresso but at an extra cost. One can only get a coup of coffee from the little store on the back street of the hotel but it is not anywhere near the rooms. I stayed for four nights with my 82 year-old mother. The reason for our stay was to attend my brother’s funeral….After checking out on Sunday we asked if we could sit in the garden around the pool, while it was time for us to leave (around two hours later) and we were not allowed to. The tone used by both memebers of staff was a bit rude. We were no longer guests and therefore not treated nicely.

We had 3 rooms including a master suite for a week and were very pleased with the rooms and all the service - housekeeping, porters, reception, business lounge, room service, restaurant and breakfast room - were pleasant, efficient and capable. The rooms were clean and very spacious and the master suite was huge with a comfortable living area where could all gather. So many members of staff went out of their way to make us even more comfortable. Breakfast offerings were abundant and delicious- and the Christmas breakfast was extraordinary. At this Camino Real you can have a 5* experience (comfort/amenities/service etc) with a Mexican flair.

Originally built for the 1968 Olympics in Mexico the hotel was designed by renowned architect Ricardo Legorreta. Legorreta counted on the advice of the architect Luis Barragán, the artist Mathias Goeritz and on the collaboration of other creative professionals, such as Calder and Noguchi. It’s a classic mid century modern design and the art is fantastic. The location is great, walking to Chapultepec park and to the museums and all the area has to offer, great restaurants and shopping. The staff was very attentive and friendly and the food at the buffet restaurant on site was very good and I appreciated all the healthy options. I would definitely stay here again.
Can’t think of anything, I had a great stay and love this property.

It’s an architectural marvel. The hotel opened in the summer of ’68, a few months ahead of the México Olympics. The architect and city planner Pedro Ramírez Vázquez, heading the city’s organising committee, had a vision; to fuse together Aztec and Mayan designs, trad folk art and tripping-out psychedelia. And he achieved it in spades, using the artistry of fellow architects such as Modernist Ricardo Legorreta, Félix Candela and the King of Logos, graphic designer Lance Wyman. What Camino Real Polanco does so brilliantly is pay homage to Legoretta’s Mexican heritage, leaning into Vázquez’s vision. The hand of his friend and mentor Luis Baragan is also clear.
Fountain of Eternal Movement by Japanese-American landscape architect Isamu Noguchi, the subject of a major retrospective at the Barbican in Autumn 2021 did NOT work while I was staying at the hotel.

This is a very large hotel and we were lucky to have a room on the ground floor with a patio on to an internal courtyard. The beds were very comfortable and the room was well setup with a desk and plenty of charging points. It is close to several museums and art galleries and is in an upmarket neighbourhood.
The main entrance to the hotel is a long way from the front desk and one must negotiate several steps to get to it which is quite inconvenient if one has a lot of luggage. Also the minibar is locked and you have to leave a large security deposit for it to be unlocked. We only wanted to use the fridge to keep some milk and medication that required refrigeration. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room which one would expect in this class of hotel.

I have already reviewed the hotel in detail for my other stay, a few days after this one and all I can say is that Camino Real Polanco offers a five stars service without pretentions, without useless ceremonies, it just does. Well maintained infrastructure and well trained and polite staff always wanting to help. CR is my home aways from home in Mexico City.
Even if my breakfast was included in the rate it showed and I was asked to sign for the cost every morning. This can generate confusion, delays.

The hotel is an iconic example of modern architecture by Mexican architect Legorreta in collaboration with Barragan. The public areas like the garden and pool are beautifully done. And the pink sculptural wall in the facade was done by Mathias Goeritz. The hotel is very well kept and the staff is very friendly and welcoming.
They had to fix the shower’s water pressure on the first day.

The location is amazing. Just a few steps away is beautiful Parque Chapultepec, lots of delicious restaurants to choose from and fashinable stores. The rooms anad bathrooms are spacious and clean.
This is an old hotel it could use a little more modernizing. The pool is just OK. I am used to amazing service in Mexico and this time I encountered a few issues at the hotel but all and all it was great. The breakfast buffet is expensive and I wished I could have chosen just a regular breakfast since I am not a big breakfast eater but if you are wow the buffet is off charts!

Great location. It is close to a huge park, and several museums. Our room was large, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was large as well. We were able to walk to so many locations. There were a ton of food choices nearby, as well as a convenience store. The area felt safe. There was a pool and a nice gym, as well as several restaurants in the hotel. La Huerta has an AMAZING breakfast buffet that we thoroughly enjoyed.
There are no ice machines, so ice has to be ordered through room service. We had to have someone unlock & empty the mini fridge so we could use it. Next time, we'll try to pre-arrange that.
