Hotel Borges Chiado

I liked: - the location, near the subway, in the center, close to lots of attractions - the room was clean and nice - the bad was comfortable - the lobby is quite beautiful - gym access - breakfast was good

- that they didn't have an iron available and during the weekends they don't provide this service (paid). So if you arrive on weekends, this can be an issue. - they don`t have a bar. The lobby is very big and nice, but they don`t have a bar. It would be nice to have a place to chill and drink something

The location is incredible, everything is within walking distance (viewpoints, bica elevator, time out market, commercial square, alfama neighbourhood, santa justa lift, rossio square, etc). You can see the metro from the hotel and can catch the famous number 28 tram from a stone throw away. The staff are super friendly at reception. Breakfast is pretty decent too and worth paying for! The room was super clean and came with aircon too, we had a balcony view which was lovely. The shower was the highlight of the room though!

Due to the location it is quite loud so do sleep with windows closed. People attending breakfast or checking out early (7am-8am) are super loud too, so pack ear plugs. The corridors of the hotel smell odd too, a bit like sewage so be mindful of this.

Very speedy replies to all emailed questions and helpful when we required "transport" arranging for our group of 16. Room cleanliness, airconditioning and daily change of towels was good and appreciated in the heat we experienced while visiting. Breakfast room cleanliness and choice was very good. The small meeting and relaxing areas were varied and pleasently designed. Very helpful staff on reception at all times and for understanding English language

The front rooms did allow an amount of evening noise from the weekend music and singing in the square below unitl 12 pm. Great for adults, but did delay settling down time for children. A secondary sound screening on the windows may reduce this.

Location is perfect for exploring Lisbon. Metro station outside the door of hotel and also stop for tram 28. Plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream store and bakery all within walking distance.

We came home one evening to find we had no towels at all, reported 3 times to reception and over 1hr 30 before we received towels. We missed our restaurant booking and lost deposit as a result. No apology giving by reception when we reported to the girl at the desk. Bathroom was extremely small for a superior double room also. Bathroom very disappointing.

Location of hotel is perfect. Hotel rooms are large, beds comfortable. Plenty of space. Breakfast has a good selection. Baggage storage area for early arrivals or late departures. Would stay here again. But different room due to damp. We had 2 rooms, 1 superior double and 1 triple room. The triple room 413, was perfect. Safe and fridge in both rooms

Superior double room (236) had a very large damp area down the wall at the wardrobe/window. And the ceiling in this area also marked from damp in a large section. Shower leaked at the door, requested more towels from the ladies for this reason. They said yes but never received. This left me short, as we only had 2 towels and 2 small hand towels which were used for drying the floor.

The hotel is just in the centre, in one of best square/areas of Lisbon that the tourist must visit anyway. The staff is very kind and tries to serve you in the best way. They gave us a very nice room and they also offer us free late check out. The exit of the metro is just in front of the hotel (sometimes the electric stairs of the metro-station do not work and if you have heavy laggages, you have to carry them upwards by yourself). When I visit Lisbon, I always stay to this hotel.

Because the hotel is located in the old Chiado touristic neighborhood, there is a smell on the ground floor of the hotel, probably from the underground sewer pipes.

Location is perfect. Only 200ft from the hotel to the metro station. Beds extremely comfortable with a view of the square. Rooms large and airy. The popular 28 tram stops right beside the metro station and taxi rank on the corner if required.

My only criticism is I booked a superior DOUBLE room. The room had a 3rd single bed right inside the door, this made the entrance to the room very narrow. Everytime we tried to enter/exit the room or use the bathroom, we constantly were banging of the single bed.

Double room on inside with windows to inner courtyard with multiple air conditioning units which seemed very noisy when first entering the room but then saw that both the bedroom and bathroom windows were open , closed them and the noise was fine. Air conditioned room was great and breakfast was good value for money. Nice Spa area and relaxation area behind reception and great location for nightlife.

The location is the best part of the hotel. Staff more than helpful. Very friendly. Our room was above and beyond. 2 big beds, lots of spaces to open the luggage. They allowed us to store our bags before and after check in and check out, and also they have a very comfy waiting room for this period if necessary.

Nothing to say about our stay. They hotel is located in a small square. There is some noise because of that but is is not loud. Didn't bother me at all.
