Hotel Real Palacio

Location is very convenient, in a good neighbourhood and close to the park Eduardo VII. We tried the hotel restaurant one evening and the food and the service were excellent with a nice garden outside.

The wifi in my room was almost non existent and since I needed to do some work on my laptop, this was a big disappointment. The room we were given had very few windows and was dark, overlooking the backyard. The breakfast is situated in a basement with no windows. No eggs variety.

Fantastic and comfortable room, great staff and excellent location.

Not being able to take the stairs to my room. I don’t think it is safe and particularly hygenic to force everybody to take the lift. The breakfast was disappointing because I don’t like self-service as you just end up having dry bland food and also touching the same surfaces and kitchenwear as everybody else. It was also in a windowless room downstairs which felt a bit claustrophobic. The hotel has a wonderful space on the ground floor which would have been better utilised for breakfast in my opinion.

Everything was very good with the hotel facilities, staff service, and assistance except for two issues as detailed below at I didn't like heading.

Two issues frustrated me during my week-long stay at the Real Palacio hotel. They were as follows: 1. There was no WiFi reception in my room, #326. My complaint about it didn't change the situation during all week of my stay. 2. There was a queue for breakfast almost every morning. The dining room is too small for the number of guests, and no solution was exercised to avoid guests' line-ups during the whole week.

A lovely hotel and very clean. The staff are amazing, especially the cleaning staff who are always happy and greet you with a smile. So nice to have a restaurant on site when travelling with a baby!

Their breakfast room is quite small and every morning you have to queue for 10-15 minutes. Not sure why they don't use a meeting room as queuing for breakfast at a 5 star hotel seems unheard of.

Staff were really helpful. All requests were dealt with promptly. Marianne was amazing with advice on what to see and how to get around the city. She checked in on us our whole stay.

Excellent breakfast, including some bubbly. Great location near the blue line subway, Gulbenkian mueseeum, and park. Friendly staff, quiet room, nice spa with sauna and steam room.

At a 4-star hotel I didn't expect to have to pay to use the coffee maker in the room!! The size of the breakfast room was inadequate for a weekend (even in February). The steam room wasn't cleaned regularly (same dirt on the floor two days later). Like most hotels in Portugal, they had terrible coffee for breakfast.

Everything was ok, but is more like 4 star hotel to me.

Perfect breakfast, many varieties to choose from, the dining room service and its staff was very good. The location is very good, with good restaurants on the same street and one minute away from the Aldi supermarket. The cleanliness of the hotel in general is quite good. I was a week where I didn't have to use the safe. The sauna and jacuzzi👌

I’m rating my stay with an 8/10 because they would come everyday to refill my mini bar and I would use it without knowing I was paying for it. If I didn’t ask for it (out of the menu placed in my room desk) then I thought I wasn’t being charge. Just once I asked for a bottle of water which got brought and charged right away with cash. I think it’s better to ask if you want your mini bar to be refill and with what.

Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean. Location was good, well connected but quiet.

Bathroom could do with updating, needed some minor repairs to the bath and shower. Breakfast was fine but not great and they could do with a larger breakfast area, get up early or you will be queuing.

Great location. Easy to walk or get to metro . We had room 219 at the very front with French doors overlooking the street . Good size bathroom . Comfortable beds . Friendly helpful staff . Didn’t use the food/drinks

Although the street was quiet at night - the hotel has very heavy doors which were very noisy and slammed early in the morning- we were near the cleaner station which was noisy from 730. Cleaning should start after breakfast
