Looks like each room has a theme at this stay. I had the Captain's Room - so had a slight seaside feel to the decor. If you do stay in this room - I would definitely watch out for the beams if you are of large stature - they are padded so you should be okay though watch the bathroom door as it is not - finding this out from experience. Restaurant is quaint and offers a good range of food. Stayed on a Wednesday night which they have an open mic night which brought in quite a few locals into the bar. Plenty of car parking and breakfast was filling and just the right amount of food and was presented well.

Really good customer service. A lovely welcome upon arrival! Staff are willing to go that extra mile to ensure your stay is pleasant and enjoyable.

The cleanliness of the room itself was okay, breakfast area was slightly confusing? It wasn’t clear where we were allowed to sit or if we had to order it at the bar .We saw mould not only the shower tray and around the shower but along the window seals too. Very thick and not very pleasant to find.

The staff were lovely, really welcoming. My room was clean and comfortable. Lovely to have the mini fridge for fresh milk and cold water. Food was lovely for evening meal and breakfast. My request for a later check out due to a work change was no problem. Fan on in room on arrival was nice as it was a really hot evening.

My room was on the front and needed window open due to heat so the road noise was a bit disturbing at certain times.

Lovely old hotel & pub, boasting traditional features. Beautifully decorated for Christmas with many interesting articles around the walls to read. Whilst situated on a main through road, it was not noisy. The hotel was well situated for our specific purpose. The landlord was friendly, informative and very helpful. We learned alot about the area. We stayed two nights. And enjoyed perfectly cooked breakfasts, in addition to two very tasty evening meals cooked with quality ingredients. It is a very popular pub with the locals enjoying singing sessions and quizzes. Yet, all quiet for night-time. The bedrooms are tastefully furnished containing that one needs, comfortable beds, tea- coffee making facilities, TV. En-suite bathrooms with good power showers.

The design of the bedroom we were given on our first night, one side of the bed was up to the wall, so only one bedside table it felt a bit too cosy. We mentioned this to the landlord, who immediately insisted he change our room. Because the building is centuries old, none of the bedrooms are that spacious. But we managed better in the second bedroom. It suited our needs. I must add both bedrooms are well furnished and beds are comfortable. I cannot fault the hotel and staff at all. They work hard to make their guests feel welcome, comfortable and so enjoy their stay. It was also reassuring to learn how the landlord takes his responsibilities for the health and safety of all his staff and customers seriously in this time of the covid pandemic.

The rooms were small and quaint, but very clean and had everything you needed. I thought the coffee bags and being given fresh milk was a lovely touch too. Beware if you are tall, you will have to duck. The room was also very hot, but they did provide a tower fan. The pub itself was very relaxed with superb food. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was also very good and served in a timely manner without rushing you.

The shower could do with being re grouted and the towel rail fell off when we took the towel off, and the the rooms are very hot.

The room was small but cosy with everything we needed and felt like great value for money. Some nice views across the hills and countryside and a delicious breakfast. Streaming services on the telly were a nice addition. We also enjoyed some drinks and food downstairs which had a fun atmosphere.

The location on the main road is obviously a little noisy.

Absolute hidden gem and worth the effort to find and stay the night Hats off to the chefs, who put every effort into creating mouthwatering meals. The potted crab is heavenly. Fresh bread, perfectly crispy bacon... every dish is stunning. Rooms are clean, bed is soft, coffee in the rooms is quality. The hotel/pub itself is quaint, always something that catches your eye and is full of rustic charm.

Nothing to not like!

Welcome, meet and greet was pleasant and welcoming. Offered water and other for room when arrived. Breakfast was excellent, high quality and service excellent. Tables clean and condiments clean. Bed extremely comfortable. Facilities sufficient for needs. Great evening event, very enjoyable atmosphere.

Bathroom needed a little attention. Only one towel provided for double room. Garden area basic and uninviting.

Great place, authentic English pub, great food, beer and a must visit place.

Between 7-9am and 5-7pm Road traffic noise can be a little much, if your not used to it. Bedrooms are essentially along front alongside road. Having said that, it didn't bother me because it was a great place, fantastic room to stay. Yes, I would go back.

Good value for its location. Great breakfast included, set us up for the day. Very comfortable, clean and attractive rooms. Friendly staff. Good restaurant. A lovely place and would definitely stay there again.

Would have preferred individual bedside light switches or lamps but am being very picky! A bit warm for me, opening the windows not so good due to road noise.
