Kings Arms Hotel

The hotel is on the main high street in Berkhamsted and so convenient. The staff were very nice and the bed was comfortable and the bathroom a really good size. Breakfast was excellent, really good choice and the food was great.

Stayed in rooms 5 and 6, my parents in one of them. There were no headboards and in my parents room the green painted wall at the pillow end of the bed was dark stained from all the heads that had leaned on it - not a good look at all! Both rooms were way too hot to sleep well in. There were fans in the room but they did nothing to cool it. It was June and the temparature was just low 20's. I think the rooms are above the pizza kitchen - it was uncomfortable. There is parking at a cost about 5-10 minute walk away, which isn't ideal, but that's the town.

Room booked was described as budget however a good size. Air con provided as it was very warm when we stayed. All clean and tidy and staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast are really good. The quality of the food and presentation and cooked well. Good location as central and parking near paid car parks are near.

Struggled to get into the room as had to fiddle with the lock. Bathroom tiled and looked good. The sink was cracked which is probably due to the large glass drinking glasses which if people have dropped have damaged the sink, so it would be better with plastic ones to prevent this.

Superb breakfast, lovely choice and well able to cope with our gluten intolerance. The bacon deserves a special mention! Evening meal was super, pollo piccante. Substantial helpings. Really friendly and helpful staff - organised a taxi for us very promptly. Large room, it was very helpful to have a fully accessible shower. large and comfortable bed. Lots of space and in the very hot weather the room was airy and comfortable.

Decor in bedroom is perhaps a little tired, paint work looks a little worn. Perhaps we could have had a few more coat hangers. The number of Booking.com emails before, during and after our stay was OTT and became a little irritating.

The staff were very welcoming from the get go, each area of the pub was aesthetically pleasing with a great vibe through out!! The bar was pumping the restaurant area was chilled and the out door patio area during the day was perfect. The full English was the absolute highlight of our stay every item was cooked to perfection!! the scrambled eggs are the best we have ever had I’ve never found somewhere that does scrambled eggs perfect until we stayed here. Location was perfect for our dinner reservation being only a few minutes walk away. Usually places get a bit funny when you say your eating elsewhere but the staff complimented the restaurant which was nice to hear.

Good location as you can walk straight into Berkhamstead. Breakfasts were very good and a good choice of food. Staff really friendly. The room was very spacious and a nice bathroom.

The access entrance to the room was tired and could do with painting. The stairway at the bottom a bit muddy. The room was spacious. There seemed to be a mark on the wall where the head board was so maybe needed replacing or painting. The bathroom was nicely tiled and a good fan and plenty of hot water. A shame the sink was cracked which it looks like the heavy glasses maybe caused this.

Perfect in every way! The staff are fantastic….welcoming, helpful and top-notch service from our arrival till departure.

Really close walk from the station and in the middle of the high street. Rooms have everything you need and more - amazing selection of lovely toiletries, the moisturiser smelt fantastic! Dining room and bar area very modern and spacious with a really great selection for dinner and breakfast to suit all. The food is of a very high quality, couldn’t recommend more highly.

The staff were excellent - very welcoming and helpful, both ahead of time and on the day. They kindly let us drop off our bag in the morning before we went on a countryside ramble with friends. The location was perfect - on the charming high street in Berkhamstead. We had an excellent dinner at the restaurant (book ahead!). The whole menu looked delicious, but I highly recommend their specials menu. The service at the restaurant and the hotel was of a very high standard. We would definitely return.

Great location, really friendly staff. The restaurant serves amazing food so you don't have to go far to find a great breakfast. Lots of pillows, comfy mattress. Quiet room. Stayed in October but it was warm and cosy. There is a heater in the room that you have control of, and fans too. Big bathroom, lots of towels and free toiletries so you don't have to worry about packing them.

The shower had very low pressure in the morning, just a dribble at times. Wasn't a huge issue for us, we still managed to get clean.

The room was really stylish and had lots of amenities, it was clean, comfy and the staff were really warm and welcoming. They even let us check in early before the wedding as the ceremony clashed with the check in time which was hugely appreciated and took a lot of pressure off for us to enjoy the day! The pub was great and the breakfast was really delicious the next day, it was especially brilliant as there were lots of veggie options! Great stay!

We were able to park at the sister hotel a little way down the road, as some friends were also staying there, but it is slightly inconvenient to have the car park further away. When we got back at night, the pub garden was still open and a little noisy when we were trying to sleep (1am ish) but very understandable as it is a pub and our window backed onto the garden so not a deal breaker. A small thing but there was only one pack of biscuit for two of us which was slightly disappointing for a piggy biscuit lover!

We had a fantastic overnight stay at the Kings Arms, we stayed as our family booked the function room for a birthday party. The bedroom was beautiful and spacious and was well equipped with everything we needed. The staff were friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough for us from check in, to breakfast and the bar staff at the party. We really enjoyed breakfast the next day and felt the whole stay was excellent value for money! Perfect location in the heart of Berkhamsted! We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again, thanks to James and all the staff for making a special occasion so perfect!
