Muthu Fort William Hotel

Firstly, a big thank you to both Vanessa and Rose Ann, they are both truly wonderful and deserve individual thanks. They were extremely busy Sunday night without further staff support in the restaurant, and they both remained incredibly helpful, calm and pleasant with smiles on their faces the whole time. They really made our stay. The food Sunday evening was fantastic, and the view across the water is fabulous.

Our family room was towards the back of the building and overlooked the air conditioning units, and potentially an extraction fan from the kitchen as we had extremely strong cooking smells from the kitchen in our room which was overwhelming.

Room was exceptional, spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. Our room over looked the bay which was especially beautiful on a night. We had evening meal and the menu was really varied. Generous portions and meticulously presented. Breakfast was self service and consisted of cooked breakfast items,cereal,different fruit juices. Or as I prefer varied fruit , yoghurts, cooked meat and cheeses,croissants and pastries. All the staff were really warm and welcoming, and very polite. Nothing was too much trouble. A special mention goes to Rose Ann who gave us a bottle of wine on departure as she knew we were going to met with friends at Newton Stewart.

This is hotel on the water decorated in eclectic Eastern furnishings. It was a surprise in Scotland. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Restaurant was very good. Morning breakfast is in large room with lots of walking to different tables to get buffet covered. Room is lovely. Beds were good. Bathroom had newish, nice shower. Parking on site was great. Walking distance to High St. shops and Jacobite Train Station. Restaurants around but hotel menu is wide. We enjoyed our stay in family room. They were nice to refrigerate medication for us. Good choice if in Ft. William for the train.

No artificial sweetener in restaurant or breakfast. They don't keep it. Shame, so many cannot eat sugar.

Superb location. Friendly and extremely helpful staff, particularly Vanessa on reception and Nico in the bar, for whom nothing was too much trouble and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The rooms were very clean and had everything you need, from nice toiletries, crisps, biscuits and bottled still and sparkling water. The bed was very comfortable. Ask for a room overlooking the loch. Great choice of breakfast, hot and cold. The food in the evening was good and served piping hot, but do note it is not a fast food restaurant.

There was nothing to dislike.

The hotel location was good, just at the end of the High Street, 5-10 minute walk from the train station (or longer depending on how many times you stop to look in shops). The road is fairly flat, so no problems walking with the suitcase. The staff were very helpful and offered a warm welcome. The room was was clean and comfortable. The food was good and reasonably priced

The down side, perhaps the stairs at the front, we managed them okay and didn't look for another entrance so can't say if there was one. The shower might have been a bit on the small side, having said that, the water did not run cold and was always hot. As I said we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Attentive staff who appeared at your elbow when you looked like you wanted something, simple old fashioned service - you don't get much of that these days. Very interesting decor, well placed tables, just far enough away from each other. Room was clean & airy, well stocked with tea/coffee/bottled water etc. We chose the evening meal & breakfast option. Fairly basic menu but it arrived quickly. Fish & chips was better than a good chippy, beef curry was exceptional and the beer was a good price. We arrived early for breakfast, massive selection of meats/cheese, toast, fruit/yogurt/muesli and the full Scottish which again was perfectly cooked. Edible fried eggs too! Located a little on the edge of town it was a quite night.

The mattress was a little firm for me by hubby loved it. The duvet was a little small but the room was lovely and warm so it was not an issue.

The location was only a short walk from the train / bus station (between 5 - 10 minutes), the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was excellent and the bed was enormous (I’m sure the wife was in a different postcode). The breakfast was one of the best we had throughout our trip around Scotland, it catered for our daughter that is gluten and dairy intolerant.

We only stayed 1 night, so I can’t say anything negative, as we didn’t come across anything negative during our stay. Everyone was really helpful I’ll and lovely.

We had booked this for a 2 day break. Location wise the hotel is in a perfect place to explore the west end of the Great Glen. The hotel is adequately furnished and pleasantly finished. It was low season so was quite quiet, this meant not all sections were being used. The staff were fantastic, and could not have tried harder. We were given an upgraded room without requesting it and a birthday cake had been arranged for one of the party. The service was very good, dinner could have been quicker, but it was not slow enough to be an issue. The food was simple but very well cooked and presented well. The breakfasts were very good, one being served and one being buffet style. Both were hot and well cooked.

The public areas, the bar, restaurant were on the cool side, however they did place additional heaters near us.

Great view over the loch, although it's situated on a relatively busy roundabout so that took a little of the shine off. We had 3 single beds, 2 pushed together to make a big bed! Nice ensuite facilities! Good breakfast! Very friendly staff!

For me, personally, the bed was a touch too firm so I was a bit uncomfortable but I think that's more about me than the bed! We've a 5 year old so took some media entertainment in the shape of our dvd player but despite getting the picture working, I couldn't get sound so that limited us when we'd run out of games.

It was good location to the Main Street with lots of pubs, restaurants and shopping available. The staff was extremely friendly and we could do our laundry which was a big perk after being on the 8 day trek of the West Highland Way.

The decorations and decor in hotel were a little too gaudy for our taste. We walked into Fort William from an 8 day trek on the West Highland Way and the hotel was located at the end of town which made our last day of the trek even longer (16.5 miles). However, once we got there to eat, drink and shop it was a perfect location.
