Muthu Alexandra Hotel

Hotel was very clean ,apart from toilets near bar,staff very friendly and breakfast excellent,dinner was good ,nice selection but items that were on menu did not come with meal,eg had the curry a few nights said there was chutney on the menu but none was with meal and a few items were missing on my wifes salad .

Sitting having a drink in the lovely bar went to use nearest toilets it was like something from the sixties ,badly needing updated ,cold and unpleasant smell,also waited roughly 45 mins for first part of our meal on our last day.

Travelling to Oban had been on my bucket list for a while and I wasn't disappointed! When I saw the location I was thrilled - it was right opposite the beach and as you exit the hotel, your view is of the Oban harbour - beautiful! We had a family room so were at the back of car park. This wasn't a problem and it actually gave us easy access to our car! Our room was very dated and this reflected in the furnishings. Despite this, our room was very comfortable and the beds (1 double and 1 single bed) were large and cosy. The amenities were excellent. It is a beautiful old hotel lovingy furnished and maintained. The bar is at the front of the hotel and an excellent place to spend an afternoon! The staff were very helpful and eager to help with any queries. I would certainly recommend the Muthu Alexandra as a lovely place to stay and would love to return one day!

I stayed 7 nights and have no issues. The Russian girl on reception was brilliant as I had an issue with my phone and she helped me out big time. I think her name was Uliana. My room was on the 1st floor and had a view over the sea and islands. My room was very comfortable. Showers were blazing hot. Breakfast was delicious. I didn't have dinner here. All the staff were fantastic. During the night I would leave my windows open slightly and the wind made a spooky sound which gave me a feeling as of being in a haunted mansion.

The location has to be it's main attraction. Our room which was a very good size, over looked the harbour which really made the holiday feel special. The bath was an added luxury and the king size bed was very comfortable The breakfast menu was varied, tasty and well presented.

Mm, this is an old building with suspect plumbing. On our first day we had to call in the plumber due to a blocked sink in the bathroom which would suggest a lack of oversight by the management, as to the blockage was due to many years of build up in the pipes under the sink which should and could have been noticed prior to our arrival by the staff. In addition, plumbing noises often emanated from beneath the bath presumably when others guests used their bathroom. There was a general lack of drawer space for anyone staying more than a few days.

Location - first decent hotel I have found in this area of Oban - the hotels with a view have for many years been badly run down and disappointing. Congratulations to this chain in realising some of the potential of the site. Also availability of single rooms with view very welcome.

Breakfast - no oat milk, oatcakes or gluten free bread which would be helpful for my daughter. As it is a large hotel and vegetarian/vegan diets on rise, as well as people needing gluten free food, these items should be available without a need to ask.

Single room with a wonderful sea view which I could see from my bed, it was amazing looking out at the harbour lights at night and the morning view across to Mull when I woke up. The staff - reception, housekeeping and bar staff were all really kind and helpful. Convenient location, 10 minute walk from the main town area.

The bathroom fan was faulty, it stayed on for ages after the light switch was turned off and came on randomly at other times. I had to switch it off at the main switch so that it did not disturb me. There were no door hooks to hang coats.

Room was double aspect overlooking the sea. Breakfast was buffet style with with enough variety for all. Location was good and only a 10-15 minute slow stroll to the center of Oban and a short drive to a sandy beach. Good access to the main routes out of Oban.

The dinner menu was restricted. We ate there and the food was good but the variety was not as expected. The breakfast suasage could have been better. Often our room was not seviced until late afternoon (5pm) and as the room was used as a base this was inconvenient.

My experience was exceptional, thanks to the breathtaking sea view and the dedicated staff who went above and beyond to ensure my stay was enjoyable. First and foremost, the location of the hotel was a standout feature. Overlooking Oban Bay, the view from the rooms with a sea view was simply breathtaking. Waking up to the sight of the sparkling waters and the picturesque bay was a true delight. I strongly advise future guests to opt for a room with a sea view to fully appreciate the natural beauty surrounding the hotel. The staff at the hotel were incredibly accommodating and made every effort to cater to my requests. In particular, I would like to commend Pamela at the reception for her exceptional service. When it comes to breakfast, the hotel offers a standard buffet-style option. While it was satisfactory, it didn't particularly stand out. However, the good news is that there are several nearby coffee shops where you can explore other breakfast options if you're in the mood for something different.

One minor downside to my stay was the lack of sound isolation between floors. Unfortunately, the noise from the upstairs neighbors was noticeable and somewhat disruptive. Additionally, parking can be rather hectic. There are not enough parking bays in front of the hotel, so guests need to pay extra attention when it comes to parking.

The check in process was very smooth. Parking could be a little tricky, but luckily someone was leaving when we went out to get our bags. The rooms were nice. We were up in one of the "towers" so very quiet. The beds were comfy and we had enough room for the 3 of us. The bathroom was spacious and clean. The breakfast buffet in the morning was fantastic. I didn't have it, just coffee, but the selection was over and above what most are. My niece and sister in law used the steam room, and it was nice to have available. The area is lovely to walk around; you are right on the water.

We had a bit of trouble with the shower, but didn't notice until later that night. It is a bit precarious stepping in and out, so if you were shorter, that may be an issue.

We loved the swimming pool, we actually ended up with the pool all to ourselves, which was excellent! We know this isn’t always guaranteed but was nice. Loved the sea views from the bar area very relaxing whilst having a drink.

We went to reception early at 2pm we were told our room wasn’t ready, which is fine as check in isn’t till 3pm. However we returned at 3.15 and our room still wasn’t ready. We sat and waited at reception listening to everyone else checking in and didn’t get into the room until 4pm which was disappointing. Lack of staff at bar area. Noisy extractor fan outside bedroom window which started at 6am every morning, therefor sleep disturbed.
