The reception and departure were simple. The receptionist went out of her way to explain all aspects of my stay and also showed me to my room. The room was exactly as described with a lovely view of the canal outside. It was a busy hotel but really quiet, which made for a perfect night's sleep. I ate in the restaurant twice and the food was top quality. The highlight of my time there was the absolute courtesy and politeness of every member of staff. They should be commended just for this.

spotlessly clean, modern well run hotel and restaurant with great food and friendly staff. Had a great nights sleep in a large very comfortable bed with crisp fresh clean linen. very scenic looking out in to the water and seeing the barges parked up and people canoeing. The hotel is dog friendly which is great as there is many walking routes around as well as a really well thought out sensory garden across the road. plenty of parking. I will most definitely return.

my stay wasn’t long enough!! next time I will book for a few days to allow the chance to explore the area more.

Staff were very friendly especially the manager. Location was perfect for a stopover on the John Muir Way. Very dog friendly. Beds were comfortable and rooms cosy. Food was tasty and reasonably priced. Would recommend a stay here. Lovely sensory garden across the road which is interesting, views of marina from bedroom windows are great

There was a problem with the boiler which was promptly fixed, unfortunately a radiator in one of the bedrooms was very noisy all night, probably due to air being trapped because of repairs. These things happen and we're confident that it would have been resolved if we'd been staying another night.

Lovely location on the canal Very comfortable room with all the facilities - lovely big towels! Good service and friendly staff at mealtimes Good food and plenty of it

Our downstairs room only had curtains so no privacy if these were open and very dark if not. Friday night guests were very noisy with lots of door banging as they returned to the residential area.

Everything about this property was perfect including a perfect location to many tourist attractions and local shops I am someone who likes to travel and am particular about things. Having arrived and the room I booked was incorrect as I was expected to share a double bed with my 13 year old son due to an error booking through the agent the manager and his staff rallied around straight away to rectify the problem and provided a comfy pull out bed. The room was cleaned daily with no interruption to our stay with anything left out delicately put back in its place. The staff had the perfect balance of politeness and patience, making sure the meals were ok and needs were met without being on top of you all the time allowing you to enjoy the meal and trust me the quality of the food made it easy to enjoy the meal Although I didn’t have a pet the allowance of dogs was a nice touch and they were well behaved but this did not impact the immaculately clean environment. I could write an essay on what I liked about the property but I think it’s clear to see….. me and my children would definitely stay here again and the only reason to not recommend this place is because I don’t want it to be full up when I try to book again. Thank You very much to all the staff from the front of house and chefs to the cleaning staff.

Really nice stay, staff were friendly and the food was was good, plenty of vegetarian options. The vegetarian breakfast was really nice, all good value for money.

Only slight negative was the loose toilet set in the bedroom. Also the shower partition kept swinging out, might want to do some minor maintenance in the Montrose room. USB points would be a nice extra.

Location perfect . Made to feel welcome by staff in hotel. In restaurant spacious surroundings delicious extensive menu. Range of alcoholic non alcoholic drinks, enjoyed special prosecco Cocktail!! . Breakfast had number if choices to suit different appetites. Good family establishment who cater for children and wel behaved dogs. Comfortable surroundings in room quite stylish. Fine aromatic therapy products in made in Scotland of course. Views out onto water, boats and hillside scenery.

There should have been phone to reception for any problems that customers may have whilst staying. But saying that our problem was rectified once staff were on site. Would definitely visit again. Staff very helpful . Thank you for pleasant stay especially through covid.

Pleasant location beside the canal, good base for exploring the area by bicycle

The WiFi was a bit unreliable and you had to reconnect each day which took several minutes. Breakfast was not included but could be bought in the restaurant, it would have been good to have a simple option of just porridge/cereal and toast.

So good to see a property that wasn’t exploiting the COP26 and still charging fair prices. I am in the Scottish Ambulance Service and was working at the Parade. I didn’t want to travel home so was seeking a place to stay but hotels normally within the £60-£80 bracket were 5-10 times that. It was hugely disappointing that regular customers were being neglected like that. I found this property on booking.com and also glad I did. Danny welcomed me, took me to my room which was clean and a good size. I had a perfect view of the firework display across the water. Danny also insisted that he bring my dinner up to my room and that I not worry about it. The bed was very comfortable and I had a great nights sleep prior to another day of working a parade. Thanks so much for having me and not forgetting your bread and butter. This shows admirable values.
