I stayed in room 2 which is on the front of the property. The view from the bathroom looked down the road and Burgh Island was the backdrop. Views from the bedroom windows looked out over the river estuary. The bed was comfortable and there were tea/coffee making facilities. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Breakfast was very good and you are able to mix and match to your taste. Plenty of juices available as well

Room 2 is on the first floor directly above the bar, consequently there can be some noise from voices and furniture scraping over the floor. However the noise stops pretty quickly at 11pm so isnt too much of a problem. Room 2 is a double room but there was only one chair in it so a couple would struggle for both people to sit

The Inn has a nice atmosphere with well decorated rooms which have a separate entrance on the side without going through the bar....nice touch. The location is amazing with seaviews from the rooms. It's all very unspoilt. Breakfast was very nice and all freshly cooked to order and dinner had a good selection including fish specials. Dogs are also very welcome. Bantham beach is one of those rare ones that are worth the walk down....it could compete with any in England for its scenic impact and gently shelving sands with views across to Burgh island. Surfers, families, walkers love it and paddle boarders enjoy the estuary leading to it. All in all Bantham and the Sloop Inn is worth seeking out for its unique and remote location.

The drive to Bantham village is challenging at busy times with passing place etiquette essential to negotiate it's single track. The staff, although very nice hard working and helpful are stretched through being short staffed like so many establishments this year. Parking can be difficult in peak season.

Lovely room - clean and in good condition with comfy bed and excellent shower. Really close to the beach and SW coastal path. Great view from the room. Friendly staff - particularly at breakfast. Handy to have pub restaurant as miles from anywhere else for evening meals.

The room was directly above the pub and had single glazed windows so could be a bit noisy. This didn't bother us, but wouldn't suit someone looking for peace and quiet. Like a lot of Devon, it was down a 3 mile single track road, so not easy to get around by car. Perfect for walking though!

Lovely setting and views. Exceptional staff team, highly professional ,knowledgeable, and very friendly. A very warm welcome from local residents across all ages. A place you don't want to leave !! Room was exceptionally clean and well presented and tastefully decorated to a very high standard. Good tea/coffee facilities and selection of biscuits. Outstanding bar and restaurant area. Incredible cosy atmosphere and a real village community hub. Bar staff fantastic friendly and highly amusing with the banter with locals and visitors. "One Happy Family". The kitchen team were fantastic as was the food. Everything cooked to perfection ,all fresh and locally sourced. Fish lovers are in for a treat !! Huge freshly caught cod in a lovely light crispy batter.....Enough for 2 people!!....Steaks and Burgers also fresh and so juicy and full of flavour. The Pie Night was a Steak and Ale Pie which was the best pie I have ever eaten. Perfect pastry and rammed full of tender pieces of steak........Heaven on a plate!!! to die for, No wonder it sold out so quickly. Would love to have stayed longer to work my way through the menu!! The last time I visited here and stayed was 60 years ago and the Sloop Inn was just about how I remembered it as a child over a few years in the summer holidays. (My late Grandmother ran the Inn for several years.) However over the years there has been tasteful extension of the Inn. A complete Jewel of a crown in a beautiful part of Devon where not a lot has changed and an ideal romantic getaway destination not to be missed. Thank you Bantham ,and fantastic team.

Not one fault , and nothing could be made better

Excellent Lunchtime and Evening Meals Friendly and welcoming Staff Very good breakfast options and very attentive waitress Great Shower

The Sloop is blameless, but its location meant Car Parking was very limited and the Devon Country Roads were only passable with extreme caution in the face of oncoming traffic. It was necessary to leave the bedroom accommodation and walk around to the front entrance to gain access to the Bar and Restaurant. Whilst comfortable the double bed was a tad too big for the room itself.

Fabulous location. Comfortable accommodation and excellent breakfast.

Communication was non existent. We were held up and arrived at 10.15 on a Saturday night, expecting that the pub would be open. All was shut up and pitch dark and we had been given no instructions whatsoever about how to access our room, or where we should leave the car. We were on the point of leaving and driving toPlymouth to look for a Travelodge. Luckily we went down the side and found an open door and a board giving our room number. This is very poor and there is no excuse for this as they had my email and telephone number. Instructions about accessing accommodation should really have been offered.

This place was so nice. The view from.our window was outstanding. The room was very clean and it was as if we had our own flat, my son had his own bedroom, we had a really lovely bathroom and the food was so delicious. I will definitely be going back again

I really loved the peace and quiet and the views. Even though its an inn, and the rooms are over a bar, you don't hear any noises. The staff are very kind and the area is just amazing

Location of this property is fantastic. You drive down a road that feels like its going to nowhere and then the pub us before you with the beautiful dunes, beach and views of burgh Island a two minute walk away. The room was comfortable, and med up quickly on a cold night.

There were periods when the room became noisy with the bar right underneath, but that was to be expected and its not the kind of place that are kicking people out at closing time as its in a small hamlet so was quiet by 10. We ate at the bar, the menu was plentiful with fresh fish items, however my special unfortunately lacked the king prawns that should have been the main item so I was disappointed with that.

Everyone, staff and clientele, were very friendly. The hostess and staff were very professional and caring; whatever you wanted you got. The room and bathroom were fine and, unusually, every window worked! The food throughout our stay was par excellence and there was a choice of real ales. The area was great for walkers and for non-walkers the beautiful beach was a short stroll away.

There was nothing not to like about the Inn but the last mile or so of approach to it was mostly single-track. While I thought it would be a problem for daily excursions, it wasn't. There were ample, wide passing points all along the way.

Very comfortable room with en-suite, lovely breakfasts (shame I had to leave early on two occasions so missed it). Wanted somewhere close to the family staying half a mile away so brilliantly situated near the stunning beach and estuary. Polite and friendly staff, thoroughly recommend.

Nothing really, perfect for my requirements, maybe just half an hour earlier start for breakfast if at all possible but everything else was great
