The Pilot Inn0

My daughter and I had a lovely last minute overnight stay at The Pilot Inn to see the Mamma Mia Party at the O2. The Inn is only 5 minutes safe and convenient walk to the O2. We felt safe walking back after the evening show. The rooms have been thoughtfully styled and are clean and comfortable with tea\coffee making facilities. As soon as the inn closed at 11pm it was very quiet. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was very nice. Unfortunately we did not have time to try the evening food, but it did look good too. We would have happily stayed longer if time had allowed. Hopefully we will get the opportunity to visit again soon.

Room had everything I needed despite being fairly compact. Good extra facilities like a bluetooth iPod dock. Heard no noise from the pub downstairs when in my room. En-suite facilities were really nicely done. Breakfast was lovely and there were no issues with ordering exactly what I wanted as opposed to the listed menu options. Also a wide variety of breakfast options including cereals, juices, tea and coffee etc before ordering cooked items. Staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. The separate entrance to the bedrooms is really useful to come and go as you please and avoid going into the pub area if you want to. Plenty of parking outside and the permit provided lasted until the end of the day I was checking out, which was really useful to be able to spend the day doing things in the city without the need to move the car or pay for parking.

Bed was too firm for my liking but that is personal preference. Milk provided for tea in the room but no fridge to keep it in, which is a little impractical in the summer. Price tag of £215 for one night in the smallest available room is more than I would want to pay but reflects London prices and proximity to the O2 arena, however it did prevent me from staying for more than a single night.

Location is perfect. Only a 10 minute walk to the O2 in a lovely little area. I loved the building and the decor. Air con in the room was powerful and great water pressure in the shower. The room was clean. The bar staff were great and really friendly and the beer garden is perfect for sunny days/nights. Breakfast was delicious, cooked fresh and hot.

The bed was probably the most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever slept on, I woke up with back and shoulder pain. Room 1 is right at the top of the stairs so you can constantly hear the doors banging with people coming and going all through the night and first thing in the morning. We asked for some shampoo and body wash in the morning and were told it would be brought up to the room but it never arrived. The member of staff who we requested this from didn’t seem too happy about it.

Lots of small points that proper maintenance should have taken care of. Dead light bulbs in the bedside light and shower Handbasin didn't drain well - blocked. Toilet flush not working properly Tiny outdated TV in poor low position on the table with poor reception of many channels Broken Bluetooth speaker taking up a lot of space on the small table. Was useful to serve as a stand for the TV Not enough (proper) tea bags (got some more from the bar) or milk (bought some at a shop by the O2), no fridge for the fresh milk.

We had two rooms booked - the superior double and a single. Both rooms were beautifully decorated with a nautical theme - the furniture, fixtures and fittings were quirky and unique. Rooms were spotless and a good size. The air conditioning was a godsend! The location was perfect for our trip to the O2 - just a short walk (10 minutes, if that). Breakfast was lovely. Staff were fantastic.

If I have to say something then the bed in the double was very creaky and we maybe could have done with a mini fridge. Apart from that it was a perfect stay and we will definitely be back.

At the last minute our train was cancelled so we had to drive, which actually wasn't too bad and being able to park the car for free right outside was an added bonus in the centre of London. We had a small room which was perfectly adequate for our 1 night stay to see Elton John at the O2. The location was perfect, just a short 10 minute stroll from our accommodation to the arena. We hadn't booked for dinner and they very kindly squeezed us in, the service was excellant as was the food. Breakfast was lovely - maybe there could have been some yogurt to go with the lovely selection of fruit and nuts.

View from the window was great with green park space in front and the O2 Arena. It was a good spot to see the arena lit up at night. The decor in the room was lovely, and the view from the bay window was worth the stay. The bed was comfy, super thick mattress with clean fresh bedding and towels. The shower was powerful and kept it's temperature.

Unfortunate noise from rowdy pub goers leaving the premises at closing time. There could have been more vegan options available at breakfast, although there was a cooked plant-based breakfast there was no vegan friendly milk or spread, so I was unable to have any cereal. Window frame in the room requires fixing, the bottom seal section was missing and there were sharp screws exposed.

Excellent location for the O2 (5 min walk) and surrounding attractions - cable car - Docklands Museum in Canary Wharf etc. Easy to reach via the A2. Surrounded by trees and grass - felt like you were in the country. Typical friendly country inn.

Only issue was parking when we arrived. It was not the fault of the Pilot. Special event on the adjacent green - illegal parking in the Pilot private carpark. We parked right outside the Pilot front door and staff said it was fine to leave it there. Car park was back to normal empty by mid evening. Staff were very helpful.

I was very impressed with the size of the room. The decor was qwerky and well designed. The hotel staff that I spoke to were very welcoming, helpful, and polite. We were 2 hours early for a 3pm check-in, so I planned to sit in the restaurant untill then, but the room was ready and was checked in immediately. Breakfast was top-notch and lots to choose from. Will be returning again when attending any event at the o2 as it was literally 5/6 minutes walk. Thank you.

Nothing really, I mean I thought £250 for a night was a bit highly priced, but it is right next door to the o2 areana and is obviously London priced. Would not put me off returning.

I loved the added extra touches that made it special such as the bluetooth speaker, high quality coffee and tea bags, chocolates, slippers and the non slip mat in shower. Lovely decorations, furniture in keeping with age of property without being dated. Great choice of dishes at breakfast. Very attentive, friendly staff and good service. Love that the room numbers are different clocks.

Couldn't open windows very easily, heating was a bit too high so we were very hot in bed, huge amount of dust in runners of secondary glazing. (Otherwise, rest of hotel, room and restaurant very clean)
