Novotel London Excel

the location was great for the O2 and it was much quieter than being in the centre of London, the breakfast was expensive but is one of the best we have ever had.

the bedsheets had a few holes in and there were a few hairs on the sheets

Issues with television and no water provided in room so had to pay £5.50 for a bottle of water

Great location for transport links. Loads of great places to eat locally. Views of the river and surroundings were beautiful! Sitting in the terrace on an evening with a drink was the perfect spot to unwind after a long day. Rooms were well equipped and comfortable.

Specifically requested and booked a room with a bath 6 months before our stay. Arrived and we had been ‘upgraded’ to a room with no requested facility. When I called the desk, they couldn’t comply with our request as they had overbooked and had no rooms with a bath available. My partner went down to the main desk and all of a sudden the room type was available! I appreciate the ‘upgrade’ but the rudeness of the staff with myself and the blatant lie would not see me back here in a hurry!

First time in the area, overall the stay was great although we did not get a chance to explore the hotel due to only staying for one night. The room was very spacious, I booked a double bed, it had a good sized bathroom and a lot of walking space including all of the normal amenities. For two people we felt able to move around the room without bumping into each other, unlike many hotels we've stayed in Europe. The staff were welcoming from the time we checked in until check-out. unfortunately I was unable to get the name of the lady that checked me in yet she was nice, also I'd like to highlight Florin at check-out for his excellent customer service and outgoing attitude! I paid 118 pounds for the night which was pretty good considering it was booked the day before. Overall, aside from the one thing mentioned below that I didn't like, I would definitely stay here again.

After check-in, I went to the bar to ask for a set of cutlery for takeaway food we had picked up prior to arriving. What wasn't expected, was the bar maid asking if I was staying in the hotel before leaving to get the cutlery. This did catch me off guard due to the bar not being busy at the time, specifically the female that I spoke had just finished stocking the fridge. Being that I was in the hotel, it would seem apparent that I was a guest, which didn't warrant the question at all. This did turn me off from the bar primarily based on this initial impression, in addition to her attitude not being pleasant or welcoming towards me, yet others did not receive the same type of attitude.

Perfect hotel, very clean spacious rooms, comfortable beds and amazing view over de docks. Airconditioning works perfect, very quiet location after a hectic day in the city center. There is a gym, we were the ‘lucky’ ones that slept underneath it (275) which means you hear the gym sometimes…this wasn’t as bad as we thought and they did inform us beforehand. Next to the gym there is a sauna with towels free to use. Breakfast we didn’t order there is lovely coffee shop Fratelli’s in walking distance that has very nice coffee and a good selection of sandwiches and fresh croissants. This was way cheaper than the hotel breakfast (€ 21,75 pp in August 2023 kids free though). Also there is a Tesco express that is open till 23.00 in case you need something. When taking the underground to the center you pass a Starbucks for your to go coffee. Everyday we returned from the city our beds were made again, towels replaced and everything looked anew again, make sure you hang the tag ‘I’m out’ at your door.

I was a bit shocked at the amount of airplanes that fly low over the hotel, they either land or take off closeby. Luckily not the entire day but some days early morning. The location was apart from the occasional airplane very quiet, it is however quite some stops from the city center meaning transport costs could add up after a few days. We had no Oyster card since we were there 4 nights but I do recommend ordering one way before you travel to London it does save a lot or buy a day travel card for 15,50 that allows travel unlimited all day

Upgraded to executive room which was a lovely surprise and it was sooooooo nice. Everything you need and more. The “emergency kit” in the bathroom was above and beyond, every little thing that you might forget was in the kit e.g razor, comb such a lovely touch. Nespresso machine, lots of storage and a view! Beautifully clean, a lovely calm atmosphere throughout the hotel, perfect for unwinding after a day on your feet. Location is perfect with access to the Royal Victoria station or a quick cable car ride across to the excel and the tube. Lots of eating places, cafes, street food close by and restaurants/shops/cinema at the Excel.

everything was clean and tidy, the room was a great size, breakfast was lovely and we some good interactions with staff at reception and in the halls. the room had loads of different lights which helped so much when each of us were doing seperate things, such a wonderful hotel we will be coming back.

there was quite a funky smell coming from the rooms (with no numbers if i remember correct) near ours, it was there consistantly for our whole stay but you couldnt smell it in our own room luckily. another thing was trying to get cutlery for our own food in the room, the reception staff were lovely and told us to go to the bar and that they would accommodate us, we go to the bar and ask for some knives and forks and they send us into the busy restaurant so we didnt bother, it was a bit confusing really.

Arrived at the hotel a little late at night than expected, but received a very warm welcome when we arrived. We stayed at the hotel for my birthday. We used to live in the area before and wanted to return to relive old memories. Much to my surprise, my room was decorated and lots of birthday wishes were everywhere in the room including the shower! The staff arranged a cake, which was so thoughtful. I liked the fact that social distancing was maintained and guests were advised to wear face coverings in the hotel, at breakfast you were served at the table maximising guest safety. They do a lovely vegan breakfast on request. The rooms are spacious and all have accessible showers with lift access to all floors, Parking is charged at £18 per night which we used and was mostly empty, but can get busy during peak times. They have a steam and sauna room which we also used and it was clean too. There is a gym. The location is perfect but if you come by car parking may be an issue. We will definitely come back for city breaks and stay here.

there really was nothing to dislike. I cannot fault the staff and their hospitality.

modern hotel in the London ExCel district (which is pretty neat and quiet when there is no exhibition). Hotel has all you need, staff is friendly, bar has an amazing view; room is comfy and beds are really nice. We did not test breakfast as 24 pounds seemed a bit high-priced. Hotel is conveniently located on both, DLR and Elizabeth tube line.

WiFi was very unreliable and slow; you could hardly work and it was not possible to fix. For a hotel that host business guests, not a very pleasant thing. Plus in-room system was constantly getting offline.

The location was good for what I required for my stay. The room was nice and spacious, and the bathroom was a good size and clean. It was surprisingly quiet as well despite being right next to the airport.

It felt like my order had been messed up slightly as I booked a room with breakfast included, and when I arrived at the hotel there was an issue finding my booking, and then the following day when I went down for breakfast I was told that I wasn't on the list for breakfast so I had to buy it there in order to have something to eat which was not great.
