What an absolute gem of a place. It's in the front "garden" area of a house on the hill coming out of the Heolgerrig suburb of Merthyr Tydfil which overlooks the town from a mountainside. When I got near my satnav misdirected me and I turned into a little private driveway that led to a few houses behind the venue. There a friendly neighbour, Howard, gave me directions and we chatted for a while about the area. The usual Welsh welcome I'm proud to say. After getting to the right address I was met by Lynne, the very friendly owner who showed me round. It's a decent sized cabin building with two sets of bunks in one corner and a sofa that opens out into a double bed so it sleeps 6 but I believe there was a fold up bed under one of the bunks so you may be able to squeeze in 7 but best check first! There's a TV on the wall with a Sky TV box and Firestick plus a drawer full of DVDs. The bathroom is a decent size and the electric shower is easy to use and excellent. The kitchen area comes with supplies for breakfast, plenty of tea and coffee and milk to go with it. It literally has has everything you need as I discovered when I looked through the other drawers having discovered the DVD stash. I was able to park my motorbike on the decking area by the front door which gave me piece of mind. It looks like there may be a garden area that you can access from the side door but I didn't venture out. All in all one of the best places I have stayed in. To top it off, as I got ready to leave, Howard the neighbour drove past and gave me a wave :) :)

Lovely, cosy self contained unit with everything you need. There was fresh milk and orange juice in the fridge, and lots of breakfast options in the cupboards. The place was spotless and quiet.

The only small negative I can think of is that I like to sleep with a window open but there weren’t any. This wouldn’t stop me staying again though! The beds were lovely and comfortable so I still slept well.

Looks exactly as advertised. Spotlessly clean. Unbelievable value. Super cosy, warm, well equipped with every amenity you could need - and more than they advertise. Hot and reasonably powered shower. Breakfast is comprehensive and already there in the cupboard/fridge for you so can be on your own time. Beds are very comfortable. Peaceful and quiet but only a stone’s throw from Merthyr centre, the Gurnos and not far from the Beacons. Lynne communicated really well and was very considerate in making it a welcome place to come back to after long days out.

Nothing! 10/10. I’ve paid more than twice as much for places that aren’t half as good. Recommend The Shed to everyone coming this way! Perhaps WiFi could be better (struggled with a Zoom work call but might have been the weather etc)

I had a very comfortable and quiet stay, the location is great. Breakfast was perfect, the little kitchenette had everything I needed so didn't have to go out for dinner, I was able to reheat the food I had brought with me. The bed was very comfortable. Really nice to be able to relax on the sofa and have plenty of space rather than a hotel room which is quite cramped. I would absolutely recommend and will definitely stay again.

The WiFi was a bit slow so was hard to do some work I needed to do. I found the floor a bit chilly where the rug wasn't covering, so next time I would just take slippers. Also, I had seen some reviews about lack of table to eat at, it would be great to have a little foldable to use with the dining chairs, rather than eating on the sofa but that's all down to personal preference.

The shed is a cheap as well as comfortable place to stay. The layout of the rooms are pleadingly asethetic as well as welcoming. The beds as well are as good thing to mention due to them keeping warmth really well and being soft. Including having a great oppurtunity to visit the beautful waterfalls.

Sometimes the water temperature doesn't stay the way you put it, its mostly cold but sometimes turns very hot. From our experience the heating was really intense, we turned it down and put on the fan however at night it still was hot. On the other hand i really reccomend this place!

Exceeded expectations for the price. Fresh ground coffee; Hot Cross buns for Easter; Fresh milk and more showed attention to detail and care. Location excellent for Bike Park Wales, being 10 mins drive and lots of eating options 5 minutes away. Elevated, peaceful location with beautiful views.

Nothing. The owner is ready to install an opening window on the property. Currently 3 (lockable) doors allow fresh air. That was my only feedback, which has already been resolved.

The location was perfect for hiking Brecon Beacon. The breakfast was perfect to start us on a day of hiking - yogurt, croissant, bread, bananas, coffee and tea, and more! Beds are comfortable and there were candy treats. The view is pretty nice and the Shed had towels, DVDs, WiFi, and so much more. We would have stayed another night but it was already booked. And Lynne is a wonderful hostess!

WiFi signal didn’t seem strong at times.

Very well organised and cosy. Well stocked with breakfast provisions and spare toiletries. Good quality ceramics, sheets etc. Nice sized tv with sky and wifi code. Good parking space and an area to store bikes. Quick drive to the centre of Merthyr Tidfil. Though be warned it’s at the top of a steep hill! This gives a good view of the town.

No privacy for the beds from the lounge area so everyone has to go to bed at the same time; and no lock on the bathroom door.

Breakfast was excellent. Lots of space. Spotlessly clean. Particularly liked the value for money for a solo traveller.

The Netflix did not work on first attempt. However, I did not pursue it and it could probably have been resolved. The wi-fi was reasonable but did drop out occasionally.

Lynne is the best host ever, so super-generous and warm. The accommodation was great with the advantage of a combination microwave allowing conventional cooking. Nothing was missing for us but, I'm sure, it would only have been a request away and Lynne would have done her best to provide it.

The only thing I would have liked is a table -even a folding picnic table where we could eat properly - not tv meal-style. Plus an airer - that would have been useful. These are just suggestions and in no way impeded the enjoyment of our stay
