The staff, from the Manager to the night porter who served us drinks on Saturday night were polite, efficient and personable. We were very well looked after. Our dinner was excellent. I was the served the best lamb shank I have ever tasted along with lovely gravy and plenty of it. The 'Angus' (full) breakfast was clearly comprised of locally sourced produce. Difficult to choose the best ingredient, but I'm going to nominate the black pudding.

Quite frankly, I'm struggling to write enough to satisfy the traffic lights here. Experience has taught me to criticise positively. I have no criticism to offer.

Comfiest hotel bed I’ve ever slept in and great food and wine! Lovely fresh haddock and chips for dinner. Fab glass of Chilean red. Perfect poached eggs and bacon this morning. Big thanks to the hotel’s French chef team, who have been with the hotel more than 20 years and work their socks off. Same goes for the rest of the staff - friendly, knowledgeable, hard-working and long service. Lovely arts and crafts original features, including beautiful fireplace, original woodwork and stunning stained glass window…Thank you Links Hotel for a great stay in Montrose! 👍👍--

The room was large and well laid out with the bonus of a small balcony. The evening menu had some interesting choices and the portions were large and quality and presentation good. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and again the portions were large but well cooked and very tasty. Quiet location and carparking on site.

The shower could have been more powerful; even turned on fully it didn't give a strong flow of water.

The room was clean, reception was welcoming and warm reception. Book in and check out was smooth and easy. We had coffee at the bar/tea room, really exceptional cup of coffee. Dinner and breakfast was fantastic, so much food and good value for money, could have not asked for more. Dinner was cooked to perfection and couldn't finish the meal unfortunately, despite it being so tasty. Breakfast was good too, I could see myself gaining a few extra pounds if we stayed longer.. The room itself was clean and well presented, modern TV and for once a hotel with a decent mattress, definitely one of the better stays in a hotel we have had. Servers at dinner and breakfast and at the bar were so friendly, professional and helpful, thanks to all the team for a wonderful enjoyable stay, we will be back

We had a junior suite which was massive, comfortable and in excellent condition. But the best feature is the food. I complimented on the chef and he came out to chat. It turns out he's French and been there for 30 years, having professionally trained at culinary school in Le Touquet. If the hotel's restaurant was a stand alone it would easily get the attention it so richly deserves. So go to the hotel, book a suite, discover the fantastic area, have a drink afterwards in the bar and then savour the food. Absolutely brilliant and what nice staff.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very nice. I had dinner with friends and it was delicious!

Unfortunately my room was very hot - like a sauna. The staff did provide me with a very small fan to try to cool it down and closed the curtains during the day, which helped a bit. The shower door was missing, just a curtain on cable ties, which was a bit disappointing.

We had a lovely time in this warm and friendly hotel. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. The room itself was spacious and decorated to a high standard and very clean. We had an evening meal in the restaurant which was one of the best meals we’ve had and the breakfast the following morning was also excellent. I recommend trying the Arbroath Smokie. Montrose is a fine town and a perfect base to explore the stunning Angus countryside. The hotel is situated in a quiet area and within walking distance from the beach. We were fortunate to see dolphins on our visit there. I hope to return in the near future and would certainly recommend the hotel to others.

Excellent hotel across the road from a lovely park. The staff were excellent - efficient and friendly. The lobby was traditional with grand staircase and a stunning stained glass window. The room was comfortable and nicely decorated and there was a private terrace which we didn't use due to the frosty weather! Dinner was excellent and very reasonable. Wifi worked well. Although there was no draught ale - only lager - they had a good selection of local Burnside bottled beer.

I would be nitpicking to find any fault with the room.

The Cleaning Girls were amazing, always willing to assist. As was one particular breakfast lady who always obliged. Enjoyed our bedroom with big window overlooking garden.

Certain members of staff were unapproachable and discourteous. Not having a fridge, it certainly would assist in keeping items cold. Flower beds need attention, too many weeds and dead plants in pots.
