Pre- reserved parking space identified with our name when we arrived. Receptionist ( Ms Elaine Gibson) very welcoming and showed us to our room to make sure all was well. Room 211 was spacious with view over garden and the bay. Room in good decorative state with a separate en-suite bathroom. The furniture belonged to a previous era but suited our need.Bed comfortable. ( The hotel was previously two Victorian Mansions that had been connected so the ceilings very high and the landing outside the room had a very decorative ceiling. Not a standard hotel with corridors and rooms off ) Restaurant was pleasant and with a view of the Terrace - breakfast was excellent with orders freshly cooked. Bar area unfortunately closed but a nice comfortable lounge area with TV available. Didn’t use the Indoor swimming pool , and the outside pool not yet opened - understandable given current weather . Some minor niggles withe room ( telephone not working / safe locked / sink slow to drain) we’re quickly rectified whilst we were out. All staff encountered very pleasant and helpful.

Nothing really - except number of stairs which wife finds difficult. If stairs are difficult for you recommend you request room on first floor - though still stairs - no lifts.

Friendly and helpful staff Great location Great choice of food at breakfast Nothing is too much Big spacious rooms Allow dogs Great garden out the back Indoor and outdoor pool Large rooms with lots of tea, coffee and fresh towels

Parking spaces were small at the front of the property. We put our van around the back and found a bigger more suitable space.

We were pleased with value for room, but the staff are the best. Not one person was ever too busy to assist, answer questions, or did not have a smile. Elaine goes above and beyond, she made the visit.

The indoor pool fumes from chlorine bit much and lack of ventilation couldn’t stay in long, needs freshening up and deep clean on tiles and the fact the out door pool wasn’t open and available was very disappointing as that was one reason we chose this hotel. No fridge or ice bucket in room to keep drinks cool or snacks or drinks available to purchase, only breakfast as option and we aren’t big breakfast eaters needed a light bite, toast etc.

Good breakfast, friendly staff, comfortable room with large bed and plenty of storage, named carparking space. Lovely Victorian hotel close to the sea front, and the town centre was only a 10-15 minute walk. Hotel was also very quiet.

Bar and restaurant were both closed due to staff shortages which was a pity, but it did not detract from the stay. We had a heatwave while we were there and the bedroom did get very hot - no air conditioning but that is to be expected I guess in a Victorian building. A fan was supplied which did help!

We LOVED Elaine! Nothing was too much trouble for her even before our stay and when we got there, she made our stay amazing. The breakfast was great and other staff such as Jordan were also very helpful and efficient. Our room was huge and had a lovely view over the garden.

I was very disappointed that the pool was not up and running but Elaine sent us down to the sister hotel The Grand which solved the problem. No food other than breakfast and no licence for selling alcohol was a big surprise, given that this is a large hotel in a central spot. Hopefully that will be rectified soon.

Overall nice stay ,clean ,& tidy I had the 2 bed room on the 2nd floor ,there's are no lifts but didn't bother us ,no bar open this time , only upset was a fire drill at 2.30 am which turned out to be false alarm, was told one of the staff was smoking inside a room not good if that was the case ,but I would return ,nice stroll to beach & marina can't comment on Bfast didn't eat there ,but pleasant hotel

Nothing really to dislike ,if I had to be picky ,I would suggest a long length mirror in room ,I was in room 210, only shoulder head mirror in room ,but otherwise all good

Upon arrival all car spaces but one were reserved, thankfully we managed to grab the last unreserved space; I would recommend reserving a space due to the hotels prime location. Entering the hotel we were greeted by two members of staff with a very warm and welcoming manner, nothing was too much trouble and information was provided with ease. The staff here are a delight. The room was perfect for our stay and overlooked the sea, it was very large and I would recommend upgrading to a larger room if possible, as we did for a small price. Again the bathroom was large and neutrally decorated, the room had a smart tv which was a great addition. Check out time was perfect at 11am which gives you enough time to enjoy breakfast and check out. The breakfast itself had a varied selection of foods, hot food was to order and cereals and pastries were regularly topped up. The waiting staff were extremely busy and a credit to the hotel. There is a small convenience store a stones throw away, which is great for essentials like water, though it appeared to sell mostly souvenirs.

If I were to be very picky, I would advise the pool is a little dated in terms of needing a lick of paint. However it was fit for purpose and a good benefit having a hot tub. Unfortunately we were told the bar and restaurant was closed which we found odd during peak summer. However this wasn't much of an issue due to the hotels great location on the waterfront with a varied amount of restaurants. R.e the room, there was no iron or mini fridge which could be a problem for a family staying a longer period of time. There was a fan provided but no air con, this was fine for us despite the hot weather the room remained cool.

We were on room only basis . Staff upgraded our room which was lovely . We would have preferred breakfast but hotel wanted £14 each for breakfast which was far too expensive . Hotel also said we could park at hotel for £10 a night , which we thought it was a little steep . Hotel was very quiet and we were the only residents at the hotel . Staff at the hotel were really good . Room was really clean and housekeeping was excellent clean towels every day we were there . We had plenty of tea and coffee making facilities

I think hotel could have waived the fee for the breakfast and parking because it was end of season. A car parking space was at the back of the hotel for free it was inconvenient because we had to walk behind the hotel.

Our room was sublime perfect for a young family the kids had their own room and we were able to relax after a busy day having family fun. The gentleman on the front desk could not do enough for us, he warmed up my sons food and supplied us with a travel cot and also i went to meet our food delivery driver outside and i came back in and he said if i had told him about our food order he would have taken it to our room for us. Proper service. The breakfast was amazing too! Good selcection for the continental breakfast and the cooked breakfast was top notch. Thank you Abbey Sands Hotel we will be returning.

I didnt like that we only stayed for 1 night i would happily have stayed longer.

The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious. It felt quite grand! Very quiet, despite a funfair being close by. Amazing location, with Torquay seafront a few minutes' walk-away. The use of a fridge was very helpful. Lovely staff. Breakfast was lovely.

In places, the hotel was a little dated. The bath's jets for example didn't work and the plug sockets seem to be low voltage as our phones took a lot longer to charge. The parking was a little squished but it was great we had a reserved spot.
