My husband and I enjoyed 4 superb nights at Devon Court recently. Being full time carers we wanted a place where we could relax , enjoy some nice outdoor space and not have to use the car to get out and about in the evenings. Devon Court , run by Kyla, Martin and Sammy delivered all that and more. Luxurious accommodation throughout. Spotlessly clean. Breakfast was a delight… especially the fruit platter!… and so much to choose from , we wanted to try it all! It is in a great location, very quiet and only a 10 minute walk to the main promenade. The pool was fabulous, heated to 28 degrees, and a gorgeous place to soak up the sun and relax on the comfortable sun loungers. Towels are provided along with a bar service with drinks served to you around the pool. We have stayed in hundreds of B&B’s and this is by far the best one ever. Thank you for making our stay so memorable.

Faultless!

A beautifully presented family-run B & B that gives you all the privacy you want or engagement with other travelers in the well-appointed common areas. Funnily enough, they get quite a few bookings and then cancellations from Australian travelers who mistakenly think they were booking for Torquay, Victoria, Australia rather than on the Devon Coast, UK. The family is delightful with dad being an excellent chef (breakfast eggs benedict was cooked perfectly), mum was so hospitable with great directions and suggestions with our walk to the harbor front and dinner, and the daughter who looked after us with checking in and at breakfast was just a breath of fresh air (good luck with your uni studies). I would definitely stay there again but this time for a few more days so we could take advantage of that inviting-looking swimming pool.

Absolutely nothing.

Kyla, Martin & Sammy were fabulous hosts and made us feel extremely welcome in their hotel! They offer bed & breakfast and every option we sampled from the breakfast menu was simply divine!! They also went over and above by buying and serving the brand of sausages that my 85yr old Dad said he preferred, as opposed to the delicious sausages they usually serve!! Lol Our lovely rooms were cleaned daily and the coffee/biscuit tray was gratefully replenished! It was an excellent hotel in a great location and definitely one to re-visit!

Hotel was stunning in terms of decor, rooms and grounds (which included a gorgeous swimming pool) There was also free secure car parking. The owners Martin and Kyla were perfect hosts. Very welcoming, friendly and willing to offer advice around the area, restaurants etc. Our room itself was spotless with all the usual facilities as well as some extras such as a fridge/mini bar, robes and slippers. The cooked breakfast was also brilliant. Our food was fresh, piping hot and Kyla was lovely during service. We would thoroughly recommend staying at the Devon Court and if we return to Torquay it would be a return to this hotel. Thank you Martin and Kyla for your hospitality

There was nothing we didn't like.

The pool and garden was clean and well maintained (and quiet). Martin and Kyla (the hosts) were very welcoming and friendly. Their breakfast was superb and the communal areas were clean and available to all. The decor was done to a high level and the bed was very comfortable. A truly lovely place to stay, we'll definitely be back for another getaway soon.

We loved our stay here, but the cherry on the top would have been to have 'proper' coffee in the room instead of instant and maybe not to have the lights on all day.

Beautiful B&B catering to your every need. Clean throughout. Exceptional generous portioned breakfast, with everything from a full English to cereals and pastries, choice of juice etc. Our room was clean & comfortable with a modern en suite and push button shower, tea/coffee hot chocolate and Border biscuits. mini fridge/bar. Gorgeous downstairs bar area where we were always made welcome and had a wide choice of drinks available. The outside space is stunning, with a comfortable terrace area with seating and sun umbrellas and a shaded area to sit out in comfort also. Heated pool (pool towels available on request), sun beds around the pool. The whole outside area/pool is lit at night with tasteful coloured lighting. The hosts were lovely and welcoming, friendly and helpful.

Fantastic B&B in Torquay, set in a quiet road, a 15-20 minute walk to the main shopping street and the harbour. The closest restaurants were a 5 minute walk down Sheddon Hill, looking over the waterfront. The owners Kyla and Martin were very welcoming and made you feel right at home. Kyla was extremely helpful with suggestions of places to visit and restaurants to try. Excellent breakfasts cooked by Martin with plenty of options - a shame I did not have enough days to try them all! The pool/garden area is a little oasis after a hot day out with plenty of sunloungers, tables, chairs and a shaded seating area too. Plates, cutlery and condiments were available to use should you wish to have a meal delivered or bring a takeaway back in the evening.

We arrived early and taken to our room. The room lovely and clean. The bed so comfy tv, free wi fi,There is tea, coffee, hot chocolate, herbal teas, sugar milk ,the bathroom had toiletries lots of little touches from cotton buds to sewing kits. The Pool outside lovely and clean being heated with a extra bonus, the breakfast was amazing. Free parking ,Thank you Martin and kyla for a perfect break

Very friendly and helpful owners/staff, the rooms were to a very high standard and very clean. You will need to pre-order your breakfast. The breakfast was excellent and prompt. The swimming pool was great and refreshing with towels provided. Overall I was happy with my stay and would recommend to family and friends. Parking is free, this is very useful as parking in Torquay can be a nightmare.

These are not really bad negatives and should not impact your decision or experience. The dining room is very small so can be a little cramped when having breakfast. You have to go out of the front door to get the swimming pool but this is not a major problem, no aircon when its really hot but again not really their fault (fan was provided). The Bible in the room was not necessary especially if you are not Christian or religious. You will need to walk up a steep hill when coming back from the beach and harbour.

The hotel is situated in a good location, close to the beach and the marina, with its various entertainment offerings. There are several restaurants, pubs, clubs and the Princess Theatre which seems to have fairly well-known performers booked every night. All can be reached on foot - 20 mins walk to some of the nicer restaurants - but the hills are steep. Farther afield, the beautiful region offers excellent walking - either on foot from the hotel or going by car part of the way. Kyla, the owner, is very helpful and knowledgeable with good recommendations of what to see and do. The hotel is small but smart, there is easy parking and the pool looked clean and inviting. The weather was still a bit cool for me to venture in, though. A full and filling English breakfast was served with plenty of veggie/cold alternatives. Breakfast is quite early with a small window but the service is excellent and the food was tasty. The bedroom was very nicely decorated with lovely big windows. Plenty of hot water in the shower and fluffy towels and bathrobes. The bar will open when residents fancy a tipple and there are books and board games if you have time or on a rainy day. (No rain during our stay and the sun came out every day.) We enjoyed a take-away pizza one evening in the bar. There are plates, cutlery, napkins and condiments all on hand for the times when you don’t feel like going out to eat. All in all, we had a very comfortable stay and a wonderful holiday.

I could have used a soak in the tub after a long day’s walk but the bathroom had a shower only.
