Glendower

The breakfast was first class, good quality produce, a clean plate of food served wonderful options to cater for everyone and also had a ‘special’ on offer. Bedroom was light and airy, plenty of cupboard and wardrobe space with lots of hangers, there is a insulated flask of cold milk and another insulated jug of iced water, a very well stocked breakfast tray and two tea cakes there for a snack and boiled sweet selection if we fancied., oh and super king sized bed with excellent cotton bedding and the nicest pillows.They even have a honesty bar if you fancy a drink in the evening, just make a note of it. The owners are very nice and approachable people. We met staff at breakfast and they were very nice as well. Couldn’t fault it , when I revisit I’d like the same room please!!!

Had a lovely home from home feel with both Ian and Jeanette doing their best to welcome you as much as possible. The room was spacious with a lovely bed and each morning a fresh selection of drinks and nibbles were refreshed.. The breakfast was simply amazing .Local produce all cooked to perfection with a different special each morning.. We have been to a few Bed and Breakfast establishments in our time and the Glendower is probably the best of all of them. Location wise a short walk to the front and a few minutes further to the town centre Ian and Jeanette have added a few personal touches around the property ,with a story to tell for each one

Nothing to dislike

Breakfasts were excellent: beautifully cooked and presented, with a wide range of options to meet all tastes and needs. Our hosts were always helpful and friendly: one felt that they enjoyed greeting guests and making sure they had every comfort.

The building itself has large airy rooms and the facilities inside are attractively presented but parking outside can be challenging if there are a number of big cars. We really appreciated the fact that one busy evening Ian was outside , actively helping people to make the best use of the space.

Where do I start?! The people who run the B&B had incredible service! I stayed a night prior to a job interview and arrived late. The gentleman who ran the B&B welcomed me and provided coffee and biscuits on my arrival! He ensured my room was comfortable and that I had sufficient parking for my car! The breakfast was by FAR the best selection I have encountered. Loads of fresh fruits and natural yogurt. A lovely piece of local sources produce from bacon to eggs. They also offered daily specials - it was shakshuka when I stayed! Lovely breakfast service in a lovely dining area. I was worried about staying by myself but I really enjoyed my stay. The hosts really went above and beyond their role. I thought I had lost some of my belongings and they searched my room and the majority of the b&b whilst keeping me updated if they found anything. Thank you for the great stay Glendower!

We like the initial meeting with them over tea and freshly baked cake and discussing the places to see and things to do,in the morning at breakfast there were many items to choose from breakfast orders were taken and the breakfast professional served and cooked each morning their was a special choice when ,when served,you could see the professionalism in presentation and taste that Ian and Janet served many years in high class hotels before venturing out into the bed and breakfast industry.

I knew by previous reviews that Glendower would not disappoint, but we were both gobsmacked at the all round experience. The breakfast room and breakfast was outstanding, worthy of 5* .{the best we have had ]. Room very good, comfy with everything you would need. Janette and Ian are lovely people. I could go on with this review but will just end by saying to people looking to stay in Torquay, dont bother searching, just book the Glendower.

Well located for Torquay Station and close to local bus routes. 25min approx walk to Torquay harbour. 5 mins top from Torre Abbey. Comfortable room, clean, nice drinks tray - everything you needed. Breakfast had a good range of options and was well cooked.

It would have been nice to have a fan in the room though it was unseasonably warm while we were staying! Check in process not the clearest, also would have prefered bathroom to be on one level/no step in middle of room.

We were met with tea/ coffee and cake by the owner and then taken to our rooms. Everything was very clean, functioned well, comfortable beds, fridge and drink making facilities. Lots of information about the area. Great breakfast to rival many of the 4* hotels I stay in around the country, which I had not expected as it was exceptional value and service. Very attentive. Saved parking for friend with mobility issues. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much. We will be back.

An overnight stay turned into a four night stay for many good reasons. Firstly, the place is immaculately clean top to bottom. Glendower runs like a well run machine, everything is where it should be and freshly stocked. There was no flustering of inexperience witnessed here. Janette and Ian know what they are doing and to an extremely high standard too. The cooked breakfasts were fantastic with many choices; fresh fruit, cereals, etc,etc. It was cooked to perfection every morning (Veggie for me). The pair run their business with a passion that resulted in a calm relaxed break for me accompanied with an excellent breakfast. I am going back. PS Picked up a cab to Glendower one night first thing he said what nice people the are. Yep ! in reply

Too far away to visit more often

I remember on the date I arrive by train to Torquay in the afternoon, I was quite tired, but I see this beautiful room. The lady named Janette offered me a pot of black tea with some delicious lemon cakes, and I felt very much at home. In the spacious room there offered almost all the facilities. I notices also that the corridors in the hotel are decorated with some paintings which looks wonderful. One can find also lots of travel guides/ brochures in the hotels too. The breakfast included in the room price served on the second morning is also very delicious and well prepared. I think among my 10 days' journey this time in England, this hotel leaves me the deepest and best impression.
