Beautiful Victorian property very modern fresh and bright interior, our room was lovely really clean and comfortable which was fantastic also had a door onto the garden and patio area which was beautiful and well maintained which was unexpected but appreciated, Steve welcomed us at the door and introduced himself couldn’t do enough for us, I asked if there was anywhere to store my injections and he fetched me a little fridge for our room that was very considerate,he also gave us info of what was on in the town and places to visit which we was lucky the Air show was on amazing!! Breakfast was lovely both mornings which was cooked by Wendy it was very fresh and good produce variety of food for you to choose from also the fresh yogurt and fruit was beautiful. We will definitely be staying there again and will highly recommend The Berburry to everyone thanks again Steve and Wendy for making our stay wonderful look forward to our next visit

From the time we arrived we had a wonderful homely welcome from Steve and Wendy. We were shown around the hotel and the facilities were just what we wanted during our stay.We looked forward to our full English breakfast every morning, prepared by Wendy and served up by Steve. We experienced a very relaxed stay and Steve and Wendy were excellent hosts. We highly recomend the Burbury as a place to stay for anyone visiting Torquay.

There was no reason to dislike anything about our stay and the service we received from our hosts. We left with that "Feel good factor" that an enjoyable stay results in happy memories and friendships made,Excellent

What a wonderful gem of a hotel . Wendy and Steve are very welcoming and make you feel at home straight away , even offering cake and bottles water on arrival after our long journey . The room was fantastic with the attention to detail a huge 10 out of 10 , everything has been thought out perfectly . We had a ground floor room with a door to a lovely little outdoor seating area . A short 5 minute walk to the seafront (Wendy gave us a short cut ) , and a 10 /15 minute walk to the town and main harbour area bustling with bars cafe and shops We love it so much we have already spoken to them about availability for next year If I could give this stay an 11 I would

The Berburry is a treasure thanks to the incredible partnership of Wendy and Steve who run this hotel.. Their aim is to ensure each guest has a wonderful and memorable stay with the warmest of welcomes. The interior is beautifully decorated and immaculate. in the communal areas and bedrooms. Another great bonus is the beautiful garden where there are easy chairs to sit in and enjoy a wonderful view. Breakfast was first class beautifully served with great attention to detail and the two lovely young ladies who help with breakfast service. I could go on and on about how I enjoyed my stay but suffice to say I would want to return and recommend to others.

I liked it all.

The location was good, near the Abbey and a short walk to the the bay where there are lots of bars and restaurants. A nice clean hotel with good facilities and parking on site. There is a large, airy breakfast room, a nice bar and lounge and a small but pretty garden with chairs overlooking a park. Our room was very lovely and comfortable with good facilities. We particularly liked the quirky furniture and the comfy armchairs. Lots of mirrors and good lighting too. Useful luggage storage and having an iron in the room was handy. It was good to be able to open the window for fresh air as it was a warm weekend (there was also a fan if we needed it) although we were by a busy road. The traffic noise didn't bother us as we're used to it but it could bother others I guess. The wasn't much sound leakage from other rooms which is nice. The bathroom was clean and roomy with a good bath and shower. And fluffy towels 😀. The breakfast was great, well cooked and filling with a good selection. I particularly liked the homemade yoghurt. Wendy and Steve are great hosts, very friendly and helpful. (Thanks for the restaurant recommendations). They run a great hotel and they have good staff working for them. We were in Torquay to attend a weekend conference and it turned out that most of the guests were also attending. We had an early start and Wendy actually changed the breakfast timing to suit us all. This was above and beyond and very much appreciated. We highly recommend the hotel and will stay here again.

Black pudding on the breakfast as I don't like to eat it, but it was swapped for an extra egg without any trouble, just a nice smile. I really had to scrape the barrel to think of a negative point as this hotel is so nice.

Steve and Wendy are very warm and welcoming hosts. They took time to explain the hotel's facilities and gave great advice on a restaurant for dinner. The room was really comfortable and I had a great night's sleep. There are lovely touches like the honesty bar, and chilled water and fresh milk in the fridge in the dining room. As for breakfast, it was divine and would rival many top end restaurants - lots to choose from, and classy touches like the homemade yoghurt and fruit compote. In short, a lovely, relaxing place to stay in Torquay.

Hosts Wendy and Steve provide a warm and welcoming greeting and nothing is to much trouble during you stay. They are well on the way to making The Berburry a lovely boutique place to stay. Decoration and style are in keeping and you can see Steve’s heritage construction influence. We stayed in the suite which was spacious and well decorated. linen and towels are of a good quality and well presented. You have ample drink making facilities in your room including the offer of fresh milk. The breakfast was very good and locally sourced (something they are proud of and happy to talk about)and tailored to your requests. The location was ideal only 10 minuets to sea front and station, plus a park is located immediately across the road.

There is limited room for parking at the establishment itself and access could be problematic for some. There is however ample street parking around. There are plenty of creeks and groans (probably age) within the house and you can hear people moving around which some may find distracting. Some of the windows in the property are in need of refurbishment and Steve has a sympathetic plan for these if Torquay council planning can see sense.

Wendy and Steve were so welcoming- even contacted us on the day and said we could check in early. able to park at the property and as stated plenty of on st parking around also. Room on the ground floor was newly refurbished and beautifully done. Very clean. Bed was very comfortable, great bedding. Good shower, toiletries and really large and fluffy towels. Tips given on a lovely circular walk and a suggestion of a trip to Cockington which we did the following day (well worth a visit). Walking distance to seafront and the centre. Raining on the eve and caught a taxi back from town and it was fairly cheap at just £6.50. Lovely addition of a honesty bar with comfy seats and games which we took advantage of on our return from town. Breakfast was excellent- nothing too much trouble ( veggie catered for and also a picky daughter 😀) fruit salad cereals and homemade yoghurt was very good also. Would definitely recommend and would stay again if in the area.

I needed a B&B for our annual brass band competition. I found The Berburry on a comparison site, though I'm happy that I know of it now and will book it without hesitation, so long as we don't end up all booking a group hotel. The service was friendly and efficient; Wendy let us know she was a brass player herself once, so we had plenty to talk about! We got breakfast earlier than scheduled after asking nicely, as we had to be at the venue at 8.30 on the Sunday. The selections are sufficient and you can choose the night before. The room was gorgeous! Newly refurbished in a jungle theme with luscious dark greens and beautiful gold lamps. The shower room was just the right size for my needs. If you like a spacious bed, this is good for a solo traveller but I would say not ideal for a couple (I'm used to a huge bed!). It was extremely comfortable. The weather wasn't right for it, but this room has a door that opens onto a decked porch with a table and chairs. It's not private as it's visible from the road, but if you wanted to enjoy warmer weather, that's the way to do it.
