Loved the location, the access to the sento on the other side of the road. The dorm felt big enough with the fact that I could store my luggage under the bed, and the capsule itself felt spacious. Price is great for the dorms.

The main thing was the commun room. There is a single table, and four chairs. I couldnt tell if I could use the table when the staff was using it as a reception desk. One of the days I was there, I think there was a staff meeting in there that lasted at least until 5:30PM, so I felt unconfortable having an early supper. I wished I would have been told what the situation was.

The staff were so lovely to chat to and they all spoke perfect English! The property was clean and quiet and a close walk to the old town area and about 10-15 min walk to the station. The beds were comfy and there was a lot of space next to the bed to put stuff and also space under the bed for your suitcase!

Not having a washing machine/dryer was quite frustrating, since the closest laundromat is a 10 min walk away. Also there was a little cart in the shower room that was quite rusty that should be replaced. Other than that, no issues!

Very clean and cute place, had a family room with 6 individual capsules. Made from wood , very comfy mattresses. But other than that there was only a small corner with a table and two chairs , no space to unpack suitcases, nowhere to sit but in the beds for 6 people. So great for one night but not a longer stay. Be aware that there is nobody at the reception before 3 pm and after 11 pm. We would have liked to ask questions but no one was around . Tiny kitchen and one table to use down stairs for making your own breakfast.

Perfect location, super friendly staff who speaks English very well. 10min walk from train station. staff helped with restaurant recommendations and trip reservation. it was modern. opposite is an old but lovely onsen at only 420 Yen which is worth visiting. dorm bed was cozy.

Dorm was only mixed, no female dorm available. it was not fully booked so guests male and female could have been split up. I think one dorm was entirely empty. Dorm was a bit tight and floor was dusty.

Absolutely LOVED our stay. We were in the dorms , and I've never seen a shared room be cleaner, cosier or more accommodating. Beds were super comfortable, stylish and importantly very clean and quiet. Bathrooms were spotless and kitchen area had everything we needed with free tea and coffee. Staff spoke English, and were kind, friendly and helpful with recommendations around town and allowed baggage to be held after check in. Umbrellas for us to use which were great with the rain. Guesthouse was very close to great restaurants and about 10-15m walk to train station.

Everything was fantastic

Great location, less than 5 min from the Old Town. About 15 min walking from train station. Quiet and peaceful area. Front staff super nice and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable and spacious. Bathroom/showers always clean. WiFi worked well.

Only one bathroom on first floor. Also the walls are a bit thin so if your neighbors are noisy you will be able to hear everything. Would be nice if they implemented a quiet time.

Friendly, helpful staff. Nice, properly isolated pods. Good location just minutes away from the train station and the major sites. There's also a traditional bath just across the street that guests can use at a discount.

The ladders leading to the upper pods were a bit treacherous, but this is usual in Japan. Also cleanliness in the lounge area/sink was a bit lax, but this is more the fault of the guests than the hostel.

I stayed in one of the private Japanese-style rooms. The view from the second story window was gorgeous, especially with the autumn leaves at their peak. Room was comfortable and warm on a particularly chilly night. Location is minutes from the old town on a quiet side street. There’s a cute coffee shop only a minute or two away on foot. Checking in and out was FAST and simple. It’s no frills - don’t expect anything more than a place to sleep and a hot shower.

If you’re paranoid about security, we returned at 3am from a night out to find the front doors were still unlocked. The private rooms can be locked by a key, so I wasn’t bothered but some guests stored their belongings downstairs…

I loved every minute of my stay at Cup of Tea. From the moment I arrived I received a very warm welcome, and enjoyed a great conversation with the owners. The bed was comfortable and spacious, and felt very private. The room was warm (which was very welcome in winter) and reasonably quiet. Great location close to the main attractions. Free tea/coffee was provided all day, and there was a well equipped kitchen if you wanted to cook. I would 100% stay here again.

Hosts Tak and Keith were super helpful with local recommendations and directions, even went the extra mile calling up restaurants to make sure they're open at the time, and arrange posting items we left at the hotel. Centrally located between the station and the old town, made things convenient for us for the 2 day stay. Great value for money, clean and spacious room, great heating for the cold weather, and the common shower and bathroom are clean.
