We did not have breakfast in the hotel, but the location is a block from the hotel. We can see the hotel sign as we walked out of the train station. The Nohi bus is on the left side and we booked our day bus tour to Ainokur and Shirakawa for the following morning. The 2 must see World Cultural Heritage sites. And the next morning, we also buy the bus ticket to the Hida folk village. The old town is an easy 15 - 20 minutes walk. There is a very good Mom and Pop Chinese restaurant around the block on the left side. Chahan Hana. We ate there twice since most restaurants were fully booked daily. Maruaki Restaurant is the place to eat Hida Beef.

We wish the hotel could start their free coffee from the morning instead of by 1 PM.

Very good location 2 streets away from Takayama station, no problem walking with large luggage. International buffet breakfast with good spread as in photos, free flow coffee machine throughout the day. Prices considered cheaper compared to other cities, room size is adequate, with space to open 1 luggage, we booked 2 double rooms.

No water or electric kettle/water boiler in room, have to get hot water from coffee machine downstairs. Both bathrooms have mushy smell and greenish stain on the bathtub. We didn't use the bathtub since it's just a 2 night stay. Old school hotel, bathroom slightly small.

Great location, a few minutes walk from the train station which was perfect for our 1 night stay. The breakfast was great and definitely worth it. Having stayed in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, etc, the room size was comparably bigger, which was a nice change of pace. Overall great value for the cost that we paid. Right in the middle of town which made it the perfect stay to explore the surrounding area.

Don't think there really was much we could critique about this property. It served our needs and was a great value. We didn't try the onsen so can't comment on that though I'm sure it would have been great.

The price was very reasonable. Free use of espresso machine from 1 pm to 8 pm. An unexpected bonus! The rooms were very comfortable- could do with new carpet, no other complaints. The hotel was so well located - only about 2 hundred metres to the train station and with lots of small restaurants in the nearby streets.

We did not understand that we could only have aircon on cool in winter, it got stuffy , but the manager came to our room and explained we could simply open a window to cool down. Easy. No outside noise to disturb our sleep. So we were happy with this solution.

We stayed here during the earthquake at beginning of 2024. The staff were amazing. They carried my bag up to my room and refused to leave it even though it was heavy and I said I was happy for them to leave until the lift was working again. Staff continued to be supportive, giving us great advice and ringing future hotels to check our luggage was ok to send. The beds were comfy (keep in mind most beds in Japan are harder than western), breakfast was simple but very lovely and the rooms had a lot of space which was wonderful after our cramped lodgings in the big cities. Thank you so much to the staff for a wonderful stay.

Nothing.

The hotel was easy to access from the station and had plenty of food/coffee options nearby, while being a short walk from the main attractions in town. The staff were very friendly and we were able to store our luggage for a few hours after checking out. Breakfast had lots of options and was quiet during our day. The room was ample size for us to open and manage two suitcases.

Even with the fan on, the bathroom remained a little humid after showering, which also then affected the bedroom.

The location was very convenient to the bus and train stations. The staff helped us make a reservation at an amazing restaurant (Sakurajaya) as soon as we arrived. The room was very clean and comfortable. The wet sauna wasn’t as nice as an onsen, but it was unique to my experience.

We wish that someone had told us (we’re English speakers) that we had to push the “on” button to get the heat to work. We couldn’t figure out why it was so cold in our room the first day and night. Then we used Google Translate on the thermostat. Imagine our surprise! The breakfast was decent, but we would have done better just going to a cafe and saving some money.

The hotel is very nice, easy to access by the train station and quite close to the old center. Breakfast was good, the free SPA was very nice. We also rented the bikes for free which is a very good service given that riding around takayama is wonderful! Bed was comfortable and the staff was kind, most of them speak good English.

Maybe the room's bathroom is a bit old, and it smelled like humid (probably it was the shower curtain). The AC is very noisy and it's not nice to sleep with it because of this.

It was very close to the train & bus stations. The room was very spacious and had good counter top space for your things. Nice big desk space and two chairs and small coffee table. This was one of the few places we stayed at that there was no large step into the bathroom! The bathroom had great counter space for toiletries. Convenient laundry line over the tub.

As much as it was convenient to the train station, we did have to walk a bit to get to the attractions (probably wouldn't be an issue in warmer months but cold when we were there).
