The hotel is so close to the station, you can actually see it from the platforms, and arriving on a very hot day in summer, I was glad to get to the hotel so quickly once getting off the train. We arrived before check-in, like a lot of other people, and they were very happy to store our luggage until later, while we walked into town for cold drinks. The rooms themselves are spacious and very well-equipped. The kitchen area is quite small, but useable, but the best part for me was the washing machine. There is a drier as well, but we were able to hang items on the balcony and they were dry in a few hours. The location was good too. Takayama is quite a small place, and the older streets and shopping area were within easy walking distance. There's a Family Mart just over the road, and plenty of places to eat within walking distance.

A few more clothes hangers would be nice, but there is very little to fault about this hotel.

Very near the Takayama station, less than 5min walk away. Rooms are beyond spacious, with a balcony as well as kitchen are equipped with toaster, cooking hob, washing machine etc. Free giant bottle of water daily and if you don’t need housekeeping, you get to choose a free gift like a beer or crackers. Free ticket to use onsen at a different hotel, about 10min walk away. Near to a number of stores and eateries all around.

Need a key to lock and unlock, and there are no spare keys. Lift is really small and slow so need to factor in time if you are in a hurry.

The location is 2 minutes from the station and a few minutes from the historical houses. The room was big and with a pleasant view over the station and the mountains. There was a sliding wall between one bed and the other two, which was really good to read before going to sleep without bothering others. There were a lot of free drinks in the in the fridge. Washing/dryer worked really well. Also a lot of products available in the bathrooms.

All staff spoke English well and provided great service. The room was clean and spacious. We loved that we could wash and dry our laundry during our stay. We stayed for 2 nights and had cleaning service after the first night. They cleaned every spot, replaced all amenities, and even changed the bedsheets. The room felt very clean and comfortable after our long day out. After our 2 night stay, we went out of Takayama for a night before coming back to take the Shinkansen from Takayama. We had 1.5 hours to spare and wanted to do some last minute shopping without our luggage. The hotel staff kindly allowed us to store our luggage at the reception for the hour even though it's 1 day after our stay.

The staff were great and our room was extremely spacious. We loved having the washer in the room with us. It is extremely close both to the train station and (especially) the bus terminal (although a bit of a walk to the town center). The bathroom, especially, was very nice.

These are a couple of very minor nitpicks. It would have been nice to have some bed-side lamps in our room and not just have overhead lights. Also, a couple of coat hooks near the front door would have been nice as well. In addition, we would have loved to have more electrical outlets near the double bed. However, these are very minor. We would very happily stay here again on a future trip to Takayama.

Location is perfect. Right next to the train station, the local bus station (for Shirakawago) and the Tourist Info Centre. A short, easy and interesting stroll to the main streets of traditional Takayama. A Family Mart across the road for any last minute needs. Rooms were fantastic, Western size and furnishings with Japanese style decorative touch. The washing machine/dryer was very good. Modern and full size kitchen with great beds and air con. There were even complimentary drinks in the fridge. Our group had 2 rooms on the 10th floor so we had nice views to the surrounding countryside and snow-capped mountains. Staff were efficient and minimally intrusive, but very helpful when required.

Nothing.

My room was huge (for Japanese standards) with a comfortable bed, balcony, kitchen, walk in shower, and washing machine/dryer. I even had detergent, which meant I could put a load of washing on straight away! A lovely welcome drink in the cafe (PS it’s not a “soft drink” as written on the voucher as coffee and teas are on offer).

To be critical, the corridors smelt like a hospital. Too much cleaning product used. The smell a little overwhelming, but at least you know it’s clean! Make sure the balcony doors are both closed as it can be a little noisy being so close to the tram station.

This place was huge, with a separate entry, kitchen (with separate freezer), toilet, shower + bath (shower is separate so you don't have to climb into a bath to take the shower - good accessibility), room and balcony! Was so good to have the washing machine/dryer in the room (and the detergent pods smelt good). I cooked here and it was good you could close the door to the bedroom, and it had an extractor fan. Location was right next to bus station and train station - so convenient! Very walkable distance to the old town and pretty much all attractions. Guests get access to a gym (10mins walk - so relatively far, and small and quite isolated - no staff, but they had security cameras, still felt a little uncomfortable as a solo girl, nevertheless - I went twice for super quick weight workout) then went to use the onsen at another hotel which guests can use for free (it was ok, I think they clean with chlorine but wasn't too strong, nice to sit outside in the snow, no view, friendly staff).

The room was hot, I turned the AC off but for some reason it kept blowing, didn't dare unplug the wall unit incase something happened. It was great to be able to open the door to balcony though. There was a humidifier in the room which I used, but it was still extremely dry (I managed to air dry some of my more shrinkable/delicate clothes in 4 hours!)(the dryer was good though). There was only 1 small lift, so I figure it could be slow during peak hours but I got lucky.

LOVED LOVED LOVED this hotel. Do not let the entry area, or the lift, or the corridors put you off. It seems old and potentially worrying when you arrive. But OMG this couldn't be further from the truth. HUGE rooms, really quirky and fun. The room has an entry area with a place to take off your shoes... a washer dryer in your room... a large kitchen area... great bathroom... massive room... with balcony... colourful ceiling... I can't go on enough how this room blew us away for the very cheap price. Not to mention the best location in beautiful Takayama, right next to the bus station (for your tour to Ainokura and Shirakawago... which you must do... make sure you go to BOTH villages) and the train station is just the other side of the bus station. Very close to a Family Mart and within a short walk of so many wonderful authentic Japanese restaurants. We loved Takayama and this hotel was the perfect base.

Love everything about this place! Location is great right next to the train station, the view is great overlooking the city and mountain with balcony, the best thing is the kitchen and washing machine in the room, one cold night we got Hida beef from Boss Supermarket (which is walking distance from the hotel) and made a meal at home, love that they include the kitchen appliance too - it felt more like an apartment than a hotel room, we miss it when we left and wish we could stay longer. Oh and a coffee shop downstairs which gave one free drink was another bonus!
