Great modern hotel located just up from the station. Easy walk across to the old town and important sightseeing locations. Blackout curtains and modern comfortable beds and not tatami made for our first deep sleeps of the holiday! Room design was very clever and fitting a family of four with two teenagers into one room was very simple.

The hotel does not look after bags after checkout. This is very inconvenient and inconsistent with the other hotels we stayed in throughout Japan. It would be good if this policy could be revisited.

This is a chic, modern hotel that exudes a cool & chill vibe. We were pleasantly surprised when our family of 4 were upgraded to a big & spacious room for 6 - the kids were delighted with the very comfortable & cozy bunk beds. Much thought has gone into the tasteful design & lighting of the room (& for that matter, the whole hotel), which is stylish & aesthetically pleasing, while being functional & comfortable at the same time. There is a nice sofa set with a big oval table in the room, which was great for our nightly suppers! It is also the only hotel we came across in Japan during our 2-week vacation, which has a big standing shower (the other 7 hotels we stayed in, have bathrooms that are designed more for sitting while showering). Location is ideal - about 4-5 minutes walk from the Takayama train station, a 15-minute walk from the Takayama old streets & a 1-minute walk from Family Mart to purchase our supper.

As feedback for improvement, it would be great if the hotel provided reminders to the hotel guests to promptly remove their laundry once done (in 2 hours for the standard washing cum dryer setting), to prevent other guests from having to wait for a long time for one of the 3 coin-operated washing machines (which accept 100 yen coins) in the laundry area (you have to key in a passcode to get your laundry out, hence others are not able to take it out for you).

I recently stayed at this hotel with my family of three, marking our second experience with FAV Hotels, and we loved both stays! The location is superb, with train and bus stations just a few doors down, making it easy to catch transportation to Shirakawa-go. We stayed in the room with a bath overlooking the city and has a balcony which is an added bonus. We enjoyed the short 10-minute walk to the charming old town and local markets, which added to our exploration of the area. Our room was spacious, modern, and impeccably clean, providing all the comfort we needed. The amenities were top-notch, enhancing our overall experience.

The only downside is we borrowed the iron from the reception but they didn’t have ironing board.

The room was expensive but it was very big,clean and confortable. Nothing to complain.

The hotel couldn't keep our luggages for 2 hours after checkout. The unique hotel in Japan that I stayed that denied this simple request.

Such a wonderful hotel, located just 2 minutes walk from Nohi bus station (for those who go to Shirakawa go), family mart and many restaurants very close as well. The room came with a nice view of the city and breakfast which was a set menu - choose from 3 options+ hot/cold drink, nice way to begin your day. We came for the festival and walked on foot there (not far at all and a nice walk). Room was very clean, big enough for a family of 6. Bunk beds were big and spacious (important if your kids are tall). Staff was extremely welcoming, always smiling and greeting us whenever we came in. Any accessory you could think of was down waiting at the lobby - just grab it. Laundry room very efficient and clean, could be bigger. all in all - Highly recommended.

We didn‘t have breakfast at the hotel, so we can’t say anything about it. Check in was very easy and quick. Our Japanese style room was spacious enough for four people and was quite clean as well. The only thing that was a bit weird was that there were four futons but only three seats… And one thing you should maybe know before: room cleaning only takes place if you stay four nights and longer. We stayed three nights and there was only towel change and garbage collection. For us that was perfectly fine, but others might criticise that…

As in many other Japanese hotels they have an amenity bar at the lobby. That’s wonderful because it hopefully causes less garbage. The only thing that was missing (in my case): shower caps!

Hip, centrally located hotel with friendly staff. The rooms are spacious and tidy, stocked with everything one could need for a couple days in Takayama. The hotel is right around the corner from the station, and directly opposite the main road leading into the beautifully historical town. Breakfast was great with at least 3 different options. Our room had a beautiful view of the mountains surrounding Takayama.

The beds were comfortable but perhaps a little small even for 2 average sized adults to share. There were a few stains on the couch and carpet - unfortunate that guests can be disrespectful enough to cause such stains since you can see that the hotel really does try to achieve a very high standard of cleaniness.

This is our new FAVourite place to stay in Takayama. The hotel is located just a few minutes walk from Takayama Station, and is in close proximity (around 10 minutes walk) to Takayama Old Town. There are also restaurants and convenience stores close to the hotel. Room is very spacious and has very interesting and nice layout with the bunk-style beds. For those sleeping on the bottom of the bunk, the beds are large and comfortable, and the wooden structure of the bunk provides decent noise isolation, giving you great night's sleep. The "goemon-buro" styled bath in our suite is amazing to relax in and everyone in our group loved it.

The tatami unit was exceptional, with the hostess willing to help teach how to set them up. The spa (additional cost) was super worth it.

The hotel was not very flexible with early check in or late check out. The luggage storage solution was extremely trust based (guests walk into a room to leave their luggage where they have full access to other guests luggage). Their washing machine only accepts 100 yen coins, and the front desk doesn't have change. Their only solution was to "buy something at the vending machine for change". When it worked, you still got a 500 yen coin, which you would have to buy another drink to break that up further. However, it only worked once, then all the machines failed. Ended up going 2 blocks down to a convenience store for change.

Loved this hotel! It was massive and with a kitchen which allowed us to buy from the nearby supermarket and cook food which is a welcome when you've been travelling for a few days. Bathtub in the wet room was also amazing (didn't need separate spa!). Plenty of room to relax (there was a handy tatami mat area to eat at). Great 1 night stay!

Hotel staff could be more helpful. Also didn't like that staff could only give us parking at 3pm at check in time. Especially when the parking is paid parking and not free (why does it have to be at 3pm then?). We ended up just finding All Day parking nearby ourselves for 1000 yen which is the same price as the hotel parking (which is across the road from hotel, so it wasn't any closer).
