The room was very delightful and comfortable. Loved the ocean view from the window!

This house is 200 years old, so it had many delightful and cozy features as well as a great location, including parking. As a female with lots of traveling supplies, I wished the bathroom had more counter space or the room had more space for suitcases. Those amenities are normal for large hotel chains we have stayed in, but considering the ambience of Harborview, it is a small price to pay for a short stay.

We had a wonderful time. The Harborview was so cozy and immaculately clean. Our room was lovely with an ocean view. John was an amazing host. He was so friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Beautiful gardens, porch, and decor. Really great breakfast with exceptional coffee. Plan to definitely return. Great experience!

There was nothing we didn’t like

Lovely to stay in a property with so much history, and perfect location for my purposes which were sightseeing, culture and nature. Walking distance from downtown Gloucester and all its amenities and parking right at the back. Host was very helpful and knowledgeable with lots of interesting anecdotes. Room was spotless, very comfortable. Added bonus was an adorable dog called Skipper!

Love the seaside setting, access to the community’s promenade and inviting parlor. Welcoming tea/coffee and chocolate chip cookies were the frosting on the cake. We loved walking back & forth on the promenade & dipping our toes in the ocean. We delighted in watching the light house, sailboats & fishing boats.

Our small room would have been better with a queen bed than the king that was squeezed in.

John, the owner, was available and personable. The location is perfect, easy walk to the Marina and to downtown. We got lucky and were there on a weekend when they closed Main Street for a block party. Coming home at night the inn is lit with lights highlighting the beautiful flower gardens.

I would have like breakfast to include something warm, and not sweet. Maybe bagels or toast with cream cheese or peanut butter.

Excellent location and views from Inn superb. Friendly helpful owner/staff. We had smaller room but was very comfortable. Property and gardens nice to look at.

A few more options at breakfast would be my only comment, e.g. some fruit.

John, the owner was an exceptional host and fun to talk with. The location of the Harborview Inn was great - within walking distance of restaurants, shops and the 7 Seas Whale Watching outing. We had the pleasure of seeing five whales up close. I would recommend this excursion highly. The Harborview Inn was also within driving distance to several craft beer breweries, many of which served excellent food. The Inn was comfortable with a nice porch and across the street from the bay where you could take an early morning or after dinner walk on the paved harbor walk. My wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed our four night stay.

Unfortunately, due to Covid, we could only have a Continental breakfast. We still enjoyed gathering around the large table talking with the other guests and with John, the owner, who is very outgoing. The coffee and pastries were all very fresh as were the other items served.

The rooms were average-size, but comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly, though we didn’t see them much. The front room is very comfortable and has a beautiful view.

Breakfast was mostly pre-packaged pastry and muffins. I assume that this was done because of Covid, but we were fully vaccinated and would have preferred a sit-down, hot breakfast.

The location was wonderful. Also the Innkeeper added the extra touches that make a difference…a bottle of water in the room, night lights in the bathroom, cookies in the living room, etc

The house is old and, while it is charming, there are the drawbacks that go with an old house.

The location is amazing and John, the proprietor, is charming and extremely knowledgeable about Gloucester, as he is a native. The “continental” breakfast is fabulous.

Parking, but that’s just Gloucester!
