Hôtel Charing Cross

I was in Paris for work and finding a good budget hotel in this area is close to impossible. The Charing Cross Hotel ticked all the boxes. It is two steps away from Saint Lazare metro and train station and ten minutes away from Opera and Galeries Lafayette. The room was clean and there was all I needed. As a single accommodation it was spacious, especially for Paris standards. There are plenty of restaurants in the immediate proximity and the staff was very lovely. The breakfast was good.

Nothing. If there is one thing probably the WiFi could be more resilient but this is the case in many hotels and I think that for the price you pay, considering this is the most expensive arrondissement in Paris, these guys do a wonderful job. I will come back when there on business.

It is considered a big room for Paris, good staff, room is cleaned every day and towels are changed, the metro is close and you can get direct line to the sights, there is also a cafe and a small market nearby

It's sad that you don't even get a bottle of water in the room, you can get it from the bar and it's paid. You have to get there on time for breakfast, because the food will run out towards the end. There is no soap near the towel in the bathroom and it is very inconvenient. These are small comments from me that I would correct

Great hotel and friendly staff. Location is perfect, very close to train and bus stops, plenty of nearby food options and shopping precincts. The room was very clean and tidy and quite modern as was the bathroom which was very clean - hair dryer on the bathroom wall worked very well! Beds and pillows were comfortable and the aircon worked amazingly especially given the warm weather. Every member of staff we dealt with was very friendly and helpful and I would definitely stay again!

Only feedback would be that the bar fridge didn’t get cold and there was only one Power socket between twin beds so two people were unable to charge phones on night stand next to the beds at night.

Can be loud from outside, receptionist asked us not to eat snacks in the room - they would have more cleaning effort then … (thought this would be included in a 200+ Euro room rate even in Paris)

Located just a stone's throw from the Gare Saint-Lazare station, Hotel Charing Cross is well connected to most of the sightseeing spots in Paris. The Galerie Lafayette and Printemps department stores are only a 5 minute walk away, which is convenient for people that like to explore the city by foot. The hotel itself was newly renovated and offers small but comfortable rooms with updated amenities, as well as a warm and welcoming 24-hour front desk. It's located in a quiet side street off the main road, so you are able to get a good nights sleep too.

The was a lingering smell of cigarette smoke in our room. Not so much that it was nauseating, but strong enough to be noticeable. Airing out the room helped!

Good location, you are between 1 and 4km top to any sights/attractions. If you are a big walker like me, you can actually walk it all and avoid public transports. However, if you prefer to go for the latter, within 300m range you have enough bus/metro stops to go anywhere. The location is near the train station of Gare-Lazare which conveniently connects you to Palace of Versailles via train L for a bit over 4 EUR several times per day. The street near there is actually quite active so it felt overall safe even at night/late night. The rooms are cozy and well cleaned, facilities are in order and reception is really friendly. The hotel was recently renovated and it is new with big windows. Not noisy. Wifi is good.

Although the rooms were cozy and well cleaned, they were small. It was ok for me but might be bothering for other people. A double room still suit 2 people with 2 big lagguage, although a bit crowded. Safe is not free and needs to be paid apart, which I found a bit ugly. The cleaning lady kept entering the room in the morning without knocking. I didn't mind but definitely a bit weird!

Location is good that it's near the metro (2 metros - Gare St Lazare and St Augustin - make sure to check the app for the right metro to use to destinations) and it's centered around a safe area of Paris. We were there when a planned strike took place but we were not affected, thankfully for this good location. Knew in advance that the room is small from the reviews and it was ok for us since we are Asians, for bigger folks, might find the space constraining. This is a small hotel but what's most important to us is the cleanliness and helpfulness of the staff. There is noise during the night so for light sleeper this might be an issue.

The staff were friendly and greeted everyone each time they saw them. The room was clean. The location was great next to Gare Saint Lazare with easy access to the entire city. Breakfasts were good and filling. The value was much better for me at this hotel than for others I traveled with at others. The room was small but comfortable- made it easier to pack up when leaving. They were flexible on our arrival time and breakfast times when there was a reason for it.

Just be mindful that the hotel staff do a great job cleaning and change towels out everyday. if you put up Ne Pas déranger (do not disturb) they will still change the towels - a cultural difference for Americans.

Ideally located small hotel fully refurbished and nicely decorated with comfy bed linen and elegant bathroom. The room was small yet very cozy, on the 6th floor (#604), under the roof with many windows. 3min walk to the great traditional iconic Brasserie Mollard. Safe and clean immediate surroundings in nearby streets. Staff is welcoming, very professionals and helpful with advice.

Some background noise from the very busy street nearby Gare Saint Lazare during rush hour, but quickly fades away as the night comes in.

Very good location. Easy to access all transportation options. Very close to Hausmann street, Opera and even less than 20 minutes walk to Champs Elysées and Louvre. Stuff were kind and helpful.

Everything was adequate. Maybe its better to serve fabric slippers. It cost 50cent and not a luxury but a necessity.
