Batty Langley's

Batty Langley’s is exceptional in every way. Arriving at 10:00 am in the morning from an overnight 8 hour flight, our room was ready and available immediately. We had made the request ahead of time thinking it was unlikely they would be able to accommodate us that early. They really went above and beyond for us! We stayed in the lovely Sarah Marchant double. Beautifully decorated, warm inviting atmosphere, exceptional staff, very comfortable beds (and rollaway), large beautiful bathroom and the best shower water pressure I have ever experienced. The common areas on the 1st floor are perfect in every way. It is like staying at your very posh aunt’s estate, complete with service. All the comforts of a well heeled home with the service of a four star hotel. The location was also great in a hip neighborhood close to Spitalfields market and only a few minutes walk to the tube. The food on the 24 hour menu was very good and perfect with our odd eating schedule due to jet lag. I have never encountered a nicer friendlier staff ( you all are the best!). This was our first time in England from the U.S., and Batty Langley’s was one of the highlights of our trip. We loved Batty Langley’s and were sad to leave after our 3 day stay, but we had to move on to see other wonderful regions in England. Batty Langley’s, we will be back! ❤️

Lovely characterful hotel and lovely helpful staff. Almost everything excellent

Just two elements not so good. 1. The bed was an issue. It was comfortable and standard double bed size, but the fact that the bed was so high off the ground posed a big problem for me who is only 5'3" tall. A couple of times I nearly fell getting down off the bed. I wouldn't return here for this reason alone . 2. Not having access to a cooked breakfast or restaurant in the hotel was a shame although they offered a continental breakfast served to your room, but really there was nowhere to sit in the room to eat it and the other option was to sit downstairs in one of the small lounges. We took breakfast elsewhere.

Exceptional attention to detail from complimentary tea tray to honesty bar. Brilliant staff. Great breakfast served to room exactly on time. Tech worked. Shower delivered deluge of water at exactly the right temperature. Courtyard garden for an evening cigar. Furnishings, lighting, linen.

Delivers so much for fair price that guest loyalty means there may not be availability when I next want to stay… will need to plan ahead more!

Everything about this hotel was world class and beyond 5 star, and it felt like a (very luxurious) peaceful home from home that’s a real retreat in the hustle and bustle of London. And a stones throw to Spitalfields market which is a delight for food and drinks any time. the service was impeccable - they accommodated my every request with a smile every time, and the breakfast was excellent. I wish I’d had more nights there to really enjoy the lounge and library too but the kids and I had a fantastic and very very comfortable time while we were there and will definitely be back as soon as we can.

Absolutely nothing.

LOTS! The design, the room folder on the local area and the all about the hotel and its quirky name/room names, quality of fittings including the MOST comfortable bed with beautiful sheets, honesty bar, staff and the products used to stock the room (including the fridge). Our room had a fabulous bath which we love. Really nice products too and the location felt safe. Will return for sure.

MINOR moan; I wish we'd been told that we have to request the refreshment tray as we'd have loved a coffee on arrival, it's in the room folder, and to be fair the lovely lady on reception did say we should have been told so I'm sure it won't happen again. The only other small annoyance is the shutters on our room which don't block out the light very well.

Batty Langley’s is stunning. As soon as you walk in, the roar of the fire and the friendly staff make you feel as though you’ve walked into the most luxurious and warm of welcomes. The unique layout of the three lounges, rather than one large dining area, adds to a stately home feel. The honesty bars and free homemade cake at the weekend are gorgeous touches. Our check in was personable with quick and personable. When asked why we were staying, I mentioned we were celebrating submitting the final piece of work of my Masters degree, to which they upgraded us to a Junior suite! The concierge, Helen, was wonderful in showing us around and bought us up the most beautiful tray of tea and coffee. The attention to detail in the rooms and lounge hours are stunning. From the lampshades, tableware, fringed curtains and books. Like living in an episode of The Crown! Our suite hosted the most gorgeous roll top bath and carved wooden bed. We even had a wooden toilet that was like a throne! Our bed was so comfy and the room was spotless. Breakfast is served to your rooms, we opted for a bacon sandwich and pastry basket, which were both divine. Over our 22years together we have stayed in many hotels across the world… but to stay in this gem in our hometown was a real treat. When we next have cause to celebrate, we hope to be back!

We had a sumptuous suite and it was excellent. We also had breakfast in our room ... a real treat, beautifully presented and thoroughly enjoyed. We stayed 2 nights and would happily have stayed longer. The location was superb, ideal for our dinner at Sky Garden.

There is construction work going on in the building opposite and next door. The arrival of scaffold at 0700 was not appreciated and nor was the almost constant drilling. However the evenings and nights were peaceful and I'm sure our experience was temporary.

Beautiful small hotel in a historic building in a very cool, hip part of London. Quiet location, exquisite hotel with beautiful lobby, library and lounge. The room was gorgeous, spacious with a huge bed, sofa and great bathroom with an old style bath and shower that was very luxurious. Mini bar, robes, great room service and the breakfast in bed was divine.

The windows faced an office building so we had the keep the curtains drawn, but it’s London so to be expected.

Bed was extremely comfortable. Great room design. Staff was always very nice and helpful. The lounges and spaces in the hotel are fabulous. No lack of toiletries throughout. Spacious room. Enough sitting room with chairs. Travelling from EU, great to see EU plugs existed and even USB entries for charging.

Sink faucets are separate so no mix of hot and cold water. A trip back to memory lane to get used to. Lack of a hair dryer in the room (maybe you need to ask for one).

Perfect location, gorgeous interiors and lovely touches like a library, honesty bar, and DIY cocktail station made this a really special stay. Breakfast in bed (we had a smoked salmon bagel and pastry basket with yoghurt) felt really luxurious and was very yummy. Staff were very courteous and helpful. We'd love to come again someday!

For total perfection I'd love to see some more non-alcoholic drink options — I was 28 weeks pregnant during our stay and felt like I was missing out. Would have loved a mocktail!
