The staff were wonderful and polite and the room was very spacious with everything we needed. As the room was over the bar we were a little concerned about noise but we didn't need to be. The view was wonderful and the bed was really comfy so it made for a really pleasant stay and we were really pleased that we chose the Castle Hotel to stay at.

If we left the room for some time and came back the electric in the room - lights, TV, sockets - kept turning off every 5 minutes or so but that may have been down to us not doing something and then after about the 5th time it would stay on! When we arrived we thought it was closed as the doors were locked and lights out until exactly the book in time of 3pm and we didn't expect it as it is also a bar and no mention of this in the details They aren't doing food other than a small breakfast of toast and cereal which was a little disappointing, however, hopefully this is just due to the recent pandemic lockdown being lifted and getting back on their feet.

The room was lovely. Clean and comfortable and nicely decorated. The room was very welcoming and made for a pleasant stay. There was a beautiful stairwell leading to the room and a side entrance to the hotel so that you didn't have to go through the bar. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was really good, just a short walk to the beach and the shops...

The only negative was that there was a step in the room by the door. It was a little dangerous in the night.

You cannot beat the location, right around the corner from the beach and less than a ten-minute's walk from the train station. The room itself was huge, very clean, bright and cheerful. It was well appointed with everything you need to make tea/coffee, a hairdryer, soap, an extra blanket, iron, etc. There were even some second-hand books about Welsh tourism and cooking! Our room had a day bed that overlooked a large picture window over the street. The bathroom was spacious too and great. I also appreciate that it was very clean. The staff that greeted me was very warm and helpful. It was really the perfect home base to explore Aberyswyth!

The Castle Hotel is directly above a pub which means it can be quite noisy at night. On Saturday night the loud music from the pub was thumping (I could feel It through the floor!) until after 1am. If you are a light sleeper this is going to be an issue, bring your earplug or ask to stay on the second floor which may be sufficiently above the noise. This is not a hotel with a pub, this is a pub with hotel rooms above it! You'll check-in at the bar and enter, exit through the pub or an adjacent secure door round the back of the pub by the loos. Besides the noise on Saturday, I didn't mind this at all. The atmosphere was quite lively and I felt safe. But if you are looking for a serene, peaceful environment, this ain't it!

Rooms are obviously recently refurbished, large and well furnished with lovely bathroom. Room 2 is the best with a sea view and window seat. We considered going out for breakfast but decided to take their in room breakfast option which was amazing value, beautifully presented and very generous - not to be missed!

Entrance was rather off putting - no obvious entry point and you walk into a large (& empty at 4pm) bar. Was concerned that the rooms might be a little run down but this was not an issue at all

Hotel had been refurbished during lock-down so was all new. Lovely bed, excellent shower, new carpets throughout. Very firendly staff who let us in early because of the atrocious weather and storm (we had planned to sight-see in Aberystwyth but the wind and rain made that impossible. It was lovely to get into the comfort of the room. Hotel is just 100 m from the beach and sea prominade.

All though a beautiful victorian building - the entrance which is to the pub on the ground floor belies the quality of the hotel above . Because of the Lock-down they were not offering breakfast and had not opened up their dining area. But there was a list of cafes in the room in the neighbourhood one could go to. We did not bother and went for elevenses instead later in the day. Parking is on-street or car park further away.

Clean, modern, bijou hotel in converted old pub. Clever and comfortable.Quite close to all of Aber’s beating heart.

Comms with hotel were at best patchy. Unforgiveable that despite calling twice to enquire about possible difficulties with parking, that I was not told about widespread road closures and a Cycle Event. No mention whatsoever that I might encounter problems parking my car. Total indifference by the one staff member and a luke warm welcome.

All the staffs were very nice, welcoming, and very helpful. The room was good. I liked the snacks and variety of tea bags at the room. I liked the quantity of water from the shower. It was nice as there were hand soap, shower jell and shampoo prepared.

There was no towels prepared in the room - I requested them at the front, then they kindly delivered them at the room. The room was OK over-all, but I noticed the TV controller was not clean, left with hand stain - especially during this COVID days, I suggest every single part of the room should be cleaned. The room was good, but I still think it is too expensive. There was no refrigerator in the room. 4 star rating made me expect too much for the property. - I am sure I would have been very satisfied if they were a 3 star hotel. I even googled the definition of stars at the hotel as similar hotel in London had 3 stars. This is why I have to answer that the property did not meet my expectations..

This hotel is situated at the quieter end of Aberystwyth but easy walking distance to restaurants/bars/shops/beaches. Due to Covid, there were restrictions on what the hotel could offer but the staff were lovely and really helpful (giving us some great advice on things to do). The rooms were very clean and much of the hotel looked freshly decorated.

Our stay did coincide with a heatwave in Wales (Yes really!) which meant that our windows were open. As this is in a town you have to expect some noise from the streets. Also the seagulls are very lively and chatty. Obviously the hotel can do very little about either of these things (and all hotels in Aberystwyth would have the same issue) but just bear this in mind if you require complete silence to sleep.

I was originally surprised to see it was 4* as I live fairly local and had only walked past a few times, but it is an excellent hotel and I will definitely choose to stay here again. Well decorated, lovely comfy bed, new shower room fittings, and a proper working desk area. It was also quieter than I thought it might be

The only thing is that due to the ongoing COVID restrictions, no breakfast is available at present but they do provide a list of places nearby that serve breakfasts and meals.
