The Vineyard Hotel & Spa

I was allocated a large comfortable room with a small balcony and a pleasant view onto the adjacent golf course. Termed "split level", this simply meant there was a step in the middle of the room. Staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel has a wonderful ambience. As might be expected it seems to be a class act.

It is very expensive. Staff at breakfast seemed a little confused. I ate at a fine dining event there - that was a little underwhelming, and for a hotel that prides itself on wine, there were some poor choices. I should say that in the past I have dined in the normal restaurant and it has been excellent, so perhaps large events are to be avoided.

The suite size was good, nice bathroom with both a shower and bathtub. Large and comfy bed. Very quiet. Actually, everywhere throughout the hotel, the ambience is nice, quiet and comfortable. Perfect outside seating to enjoy the sunshine with a glass of champagne. The stunning wine list and a sommelier is well matched. Perfect restaurant and bar services.

Lack of territory. Our suite had no view at all and the balcony door was broken and locked by a chain. Have been trying to change the room for a better view to celebrate our anniversary, however, we were told that the hotel was fully booked though I doubted it was. The food at dinner was OK, not impressed. Wine saved the evening.

Location was perfect - quiet but easy to reach by car. The garden suite was lovely - spacious and comfortable. My partner smokes, so being able to pop outside the French Windows to the garden was a hit with him. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The spa and massage were fabulous and the food and wine were excellent - as anticipated.

At the spa we were asked to go back to our room and collect robes and slippers, which was a bit of a bore. We hadn't arrived with them as we were expecting them to be provided separately. We found robes provided in the spa lockers after all - which we used and just took our room ones back with us after we had finished, but it would have been helpful to have slippers too, as the ones from our room got very soggy very quickly going in and out of the pool/hot tub.

Excellent customer service, decor of communal areas, artwork, restaurant quality and knowledge of waiters at dinner. Choice of unusual wine. Quiet bedroom. Spa area was nice.

Location near a road was unexpected. I'd expected more extensive grounds. One night stay was probably enough. Bed was a bit too soft/lumpy for my taste. Shower screen didn't stop water spraying over bathroom floor which was dangerously slippery as a result. Temperature in the Spa and very small changing room was too warm. But positives outweighed the negatives.

Staff were fabulous. Made to feel very welcome - especially John who greeted us, took luggage to the room, sorted out charging for our electric car ... just wonderfully helpful about everything. Great spa experience including best massage we've had in the UK. Very relaxing. Food and wine exceptionally good - not michelin star standard but superb ingredients, and so well prepared that even buttered cabbage was a treat.

Was a tad more expensive than I would have liked - although not out of expectations given the booking. Food and wine both quite dear. Bathroom in suite would have benefitted from modernisation.

Everything! Top service, could not fault anything. Starting from the reservation team who didn't miss any details to everyone at the hotel. So welcoming, always happy to be of service, making sure our stay was most comfortable and memorable. It especially mattered as we had our baby daughter with us, who was quite demanding and noisy but we never felt it was much trouble thanks to all the attention we received. The dinner was quite amazing, kudos to the chef. Of course a must try the selection of wines Spa is definitely recommended, both my wife and I enjoyed massage sessions which were amazing. The swimming pool area is clean and comfortable, with the bookings well planned to make sure it's not crowded which is welcome during the pandemic. And last but not the least, we were at the hotel when the Storm Eunice hit the area and the hotel looked well prepared for it. A short power cut was quickly restored even though the back up power supply was immediately switched on. We look forward to returning to The Vineyard.

Staff were VERY welcoming, polite and attentive. The Sommelier in particular was excellent "Francesco" and a lady who seemed front of house in the bar area was very friendly, nothing was too much effort for her. (short hair) Spa was excellent, Room was very clean, bed was very comfortable. The food was excellent, couldn't fault the food at all, every course we all had was delicious, presented & served with perfection, and the wines chosen by the Sommelier were perfect, totally worth asking for advice if you are not a wine buff, we also took the wine cellar tour they offered, that was very informative. Paul Hollywood was in the restaurant, bit of a boost for the ladies.

I neglected to READ that the booking was for Room only, I foolishly assumed there was breakfast included, I didn't have an issue with paying for it, but to be charged £2 for an orange juice, £5 each for tea & Coffee did seem a little greedy after the amount we had spent the previous day, When I emailed the hotel the following day, they said we hadn't been charged after I questioned it, but no one came to speak to me after I had asked the breakfast waiter to check if it was correct, so I had no idea I hadn't been charged and there was no breakdown of my bill, I paid what was asked at the total #check when booking if you want breakfast!

We had the breakfast selection of pastries and fruit salad - delicious! We used the spa facilities, had a massage treatment which was absolutely divine followed by lunch at The Vine Bar for my partners birthday. The service from staff, accomodation to requests and overall manner was brilliant.

The food at the Spa. I found a disparity between this and the other experiences we had at The Vineyard. I felt as though the food available at spa was of a different standard to the rest and not as good.

The hotel has a great location and lovely facilities! The staff is very professional and the wine selection is great.

The food in the restaurant was average. I got a totally burnt steak, cold started and the breakfast buffet has a very limited selection. But they did take the feedback on board and the service was great so really this is just what could be better as overall the restaurant was ok.

The restaurant was a bit pricey for us, if we’d seen the menu on the website we probably wouldn’t have chosen to eat In the restaurant. The staff and food were very good but the food was not to our taste. Would have expected a little more choice for breakfast again a bit pricey for a continental.
