Loved the location very central, the staff were exceptional and made our stay helpful and a happy place to stay highly recommend it. Amazing room large and comfortable clean and the bathroom was large and emaculate.

Our bedroom was over the cellar so there was a bit of running noise from the fans and equipment, but ear plugs helped with that. The hotel was generally very quite no noise upstairs were the bedrooms are located. There was also the cost of parking it would be nice if the hotel could work something out with the car park owners for the hotel guests, although its only £2 over night it is more expensive during the day time.

Spacious family room in a Tudor cottage - with character and comfy facilities. The bed was huge and comfy. There was a sitting area and plenty of room for little one to play. Bathroom was nice and big, it also had a fan there to warm it as it was initially rather chilly. The bedroom itself was warm (electrical oil radiator with manual controls). All in all - definitely worth it's money👍

I'm a little bit concerned about the totally blocked windows: first floor and the only way out is a staircase - not sure about fire safety. It was a little bit noisy in the evening, it's a pub after all. We still had a great rest.

I was extremely impressed by every single member of staff I came into contact with throughout my entire stay. From the very kind, friendly and welcoming 2 members of staff at the front door,, the lady of which carried my bags up to reception; to the lovely and very helpful young man that checked me in right to the cleaners and the checkout staff. Each member of staff was a real credit to the Hatchet. Nothing was to much trouble and they were very quick, helpful and kind if asked for help or needed anything. The room although small was absolutely spotlessly clean and felt really quite cosy. I would (and genuinely already have) recommended the Hatchet and if needed,, would certainly be returning myself Please can you pass on my thanks and appreciation to your members of staff. I am seriously ill, with several serious health conditions, including multiple sclerosis,, bladder removal, kidney disease, peripheral neuropathy, intestinal failure and brain damage caused by the lesions in my brain. These are just some of the conditions that I have been diagnosed. These are not curable and deteriorating rapidly, the symptoms are severe, making life a bit tricky. Thank you for making it a little easier for me. Xx

Room, although small, was very comfortable and overlooked the Market Square, which was lovely. Bed/duvet really nice! Location right in the centre of Newbury, so handy for shops/restaurants. We ate in the Wetherspoons and the food was good. Staff lovely, especially the cleaner and Duty Manager (who was there on our first night). We requested a larger room and he did his best to help, however, decided to remain in the smaller room as it was so nicely located in the building.

Parked at the car park to the rear of the building - it was a bit expensive, so any arrangements with help towards parking would be good :)

Meeting of friends from Hermitage (my army career) The staff where polite and smiley and friendly The weather was very hot and the staff through out were polite and courteous .

We arrived at the hotel and there was no receptionist. We dial 100 which would have alerted her to the arrival but the phone was broken . a nice chap who was just starting his shift , said he would alert her which he did. He was very polite too. One of the bacon sandwiches for breakfast was made with stale bread

It’s in the centre of town

Quite noisy at night as it’s a pub and in the centre of town. But this can’t be helped. When checking in there is never anyone at the desk, and they ask you to use the phone to contact someone, but no one ever answers it. You can be waiting a while, which is so frustrating. I stay there quite often, especially during the summer so have stayed in most of the rooms. The bottom of the toilet is brown in every room I have stayed in . One room I have stayed in a couple of times and the air con does not work, which is a nightmare when it’s hot

I never knew Wetherspoons had hotels, as the clientele can often be known as rough drunks , I was somewhat sceptical. But the place was fantastic, staff were nice and so were the other customers. Very pleasant

I saw some feedback as it being noisy till late, 1am. And it was a little bit of noise, but hardly anything to moan about really. Stairs are narrow and steep (maybe don’t stay here if the doc considers you obese)

Me and my wife have come from India. We were allotted family room no 2 which is in cottage for the guest. The room was spacious, however in 15 mins, we started freezing and one heater had issues which reception informed us initially and gave alternate heater. We could not sleep as the alternative heater wasn't that strong. We informed reception and they promised to get that fixed and in the meanwhile offered us room no 1 too for sleeping as that room has proper heating, this was given to us free of cost though we didn't use during our 15 days stay. The next day morning, the angle arrived while we were having breakfast and her name is Ms.Leslie, we had complained to her about heating issues, this staff bought new heater while she was coming to office. That was life saver, me and wife were so happy with the caring and the 3rd day she also got the big heater replaced. It was like an home and not a hotel. We were worried for food, we had amazing Indian cuisine for vegetarian which my had ( Morning Breakfast : Big Vegetarian, Small Vegetarian or Vegan breakfast. Lunch: Mangalorian curry with Naan and Rice Pulav with 2 papad, nice sweet dish aside. On the same food item you get 2 different chicken flavors, one as per choice for Non vegetarian. I want to thank complete house keeping staff for being so caring, taking care of us like their guest. This was one of the best experiences in my travel. I want to Thank the reception who initially helped us with booking, I dont recollect her name but she was very helpful. Awesome and outstanding experience.

Everything was good.

Room was fine, Ok size, comfy bed, bath not just shower. Breakfast was good - the usual Wetherspoons menu, but good choice, incl for we vegetarians. Location on market square which was picturesque, and the hotel is a typical Wetherspoons old building, lots of windy corridors.

No parking at the hotel, but it is a town centre location, so that was as expected, and made us think we should use the train even more than we do now to lower our climate changing emissions. Room over hot for us at night, and windows old and not able to open much. No lift - ok for us but others may find that a hassle.
