Ideal location as very near to town and local amenities. Room was beautifully appointed and very clean. Staff very pleasant and welcoming. Had a great day at the local race course which is a 5 minute drive from hotel.

Not keen on a continental breakfast but plenty of it. Didn't see any members of staff around the inn first thing. If you had had any problems overnight you couldn't report to anyone. Plus if someone is there to welcome you they should be there to say goodbye.

Self service continental breakfast ,plenty of variety ,no probs with it .Pub is in a good location ,easy to walk into town .Town attractive with river and canal walks .Pub authentic and ancient but well modernised .Good parking .Walk to river /canal and find the tearoom there for tea and cake

It was hot when we stayed and old places don't have air conditioning but a fan was provided and we left the window open .Floors in bedrooms upstairs not level because of age of building ,no probs for us but if unsteady on feet maybe could be a nuisance for some people .

Room was clean and very comfortable. The tea/coffee provided was good quality. Bed and pillows very comfortable Breakfast choices good. 1st morning kettle wasn't working but replaced after advising staff. Overall happy with experience and would be pleased to stay again. Food quality (lunch/dinner) excellent

At the front of building so some street noise but not enough to disturb me. No shelf in bathroom to put toiletries i.e. over the toilet, under the mirror or by the shower. Only mirror not close to a plug socket so had to stretch the hairdryer over (not comfortable position)

Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was very good. Check in/out was easy. So convenient for the train station. Room was excellent, warm. Overlooked main street, but Newbury is quiet at night, so no issue. The best thing about the Dolphin is the food. I had steak and it was all done to perfection and excellent value. They also have deals on like two for one in the week. Will definitely use this as a base for future stays in Newbury!

I like a cooked breakfast but it doesn't hurt my waistline to go without now and again! So no complaints there.

Really nice pub downstairs with good food and drinks available. Parking is very convenient and plentiful when we were there. All the staff were super friendly and made us feel welcome. The continental breakfast is great. Generous range of items available - yoghurts, muesli, porridge, croissants, breads, jams, cheese and meats. All really great quality. There is a nespresso machine and juices all at hand. Its available from 5am self service style which is great for anyone with an early check out or even those you prefer not to chat in the morning! Rooms were well appointed with flat screen TVs, coffee/tea, and really nice scented toiletries. We left having a great experience.

If you are a light sleeper this may not be the right accommodation for you. There is pub downstairs which is open to atleast 11pm on the weekends and depending on your room you may hear either people going up and downstairs or the traffic from the road. This wasnt a problem for us however light sleepers should consider this before booking.

The member of bar staff, who also handled our reception, was efficient, well-mannered, well-informed and helpful. The room was a good size, comfortable enough and clean. The location was good for our purposes, short flat walk to the main shopping streets, good for pre-Christmas festivities in the town centre. Easy 25 min walk to the racecourse.

We stayed on an evening when England were playing France so the pub was full and noisy. But we were found a relatively quiet corner to drink and relax and our room was in a quieter part of the inn.

Very central location and easy access. Good car park and facilities at the pub. A very relaxed environment, comfortable upstairs and down. The continental breakfast was well thought out and delicious - very nice little touches and quality reflected in the component parts. Bed was exceedingly snug and noise levels were surprisingly low for the environment especially.

Bathroom lacked a little room and no shelving or storage space. Window was difficult to open and needed a ‘wedge’ which was not provided. Only other issue was the TV - difficult to navigate and limited access to services for some reason.

Located close to the rail and bus stations, and the town centre. It seems to be an old building which has fairly recently been renovated as a pub and hotel. During the week, the pub closed at 2200 and it was quiet thereafter. My room was clean. Hot water arrived quickly and a guest can adjust the room temperature with the radiator. As well as tea and coffee, both still and sparkling water were in the room. Continental breakfast was good quality, especially the berry yogurts, although portions seemed a bit small. Overall, pretty good.

The door to my room was awkward to close. No reduction for single occupancy.

The Dolphin was great and food was excellent. Breakfast was a bit of a non event as no one was around so it was help yourself - but - the coffee machine was broken. We would have appreciated some more healthy options in terms of fruit and greek yogurt etc but we dashed off after a basic breakfast.

The car park system is a bit clunky and we got fined by mistake However the staff sorted this out really efficiently and in a friendly way so it was a non event in the end. Breakfast, as stated above, is a bit under par compared to the evening meals which we liked a lot.

Excellent location with parking included. Staff very friendly. Room was lovely with a big walk in shower. Self service continental breakfast included with a good choice. We ate in the restaurant for evening meal which was very good and good value for money. Would definitely stay again if ever in the area.

Could of done with a shelf or small table in the bathroom. Pillows were a little too soft (personal choice)
