The Lodge

Very quiet location, bright and modern hotel. Very helpful and friendly staff throughout the stay. The room and hotel in general was spotlessly clean. Comfortable six foot bed, the room was not large but perfectly adequate for me. Lovely bathroom with waterfall shower and quality toiletries. Met up with friends from abroad and they too, really enjoyed their stay. Excellent breakfast and we also dined in twice, the food was very good and well presented. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly book The Lodge again.

It was very hot and humid during our stay and even with the window open and pedestal fan on all night, it was a bit too warm for comfort. However, l don't have the benefit of air conditioning at home, so slept eventually. Sat Nav took us to closed barriers! Access is rather fiddly but that is no fault whatsoever of the hotel. The council and racecourse apparently have decided on this.

The hotel is in a very interesting location next to the racecourse and, as long as you follow the instructions they send you, it is easy to find. Being relatively new it is nice and clean, with a fresh style of decor themed to the horse-related location, with some lovely quirky little fixtures and fittings. Breakfast was excellent, and nicely relaxed, with friendly service and good quality food. The double bed was huuuge, and very comfortable. Being close to the town centre it was also handy to pop out for something to eat if you do not want to sample the simple bistro style options in-house. We opted for the Turkuaz Turkish restaurant which was exceptional.

Nothing to dislike, but remember that breakfast being served until 9am does not mean that it is fair to turn up at 8:50 and expect to order a cooked breakfast. This is just about guests being fair to staff, not a criticism of the hotel or staff.

The room was what I expected having stayed there a few times previously. I especially like the breakfast that is cooked to order and arrives promptly and is plentiful. There is enough selection at breakfast to suit everyone and the evening food options are cooked well and of good quality.

I knew I could have paid more for a room with a desk but do feel that a small table at the side of the bed to put a clock or rest your phone should be standard in every room. There is very little option for an evening meal but the 3/4 options available are of good quality.

beds comfortable facilities very good I had a room with a wetroom and disabled facilities unfortunately wetroom area didn't contain the water when showering (possibly drain blocked) so it flooded the whole bathroom but sorted by staff and ok next day. Breakfast good and staff more than helpful. we thought it very good value for money and parking was easy.

not easy to find even with the right postcode. asked for payment on arrival but told next dat we weren't expected to pay until departure. otherwise everything good

It was quiet........ TV was a sensible size Don't trust the Sat Nav (Google), turn into car park number two... Restaurant was a bit "refectory" and very open to sun glare...

Not really suitable for a business traveller or someone wanting or eeding to use their PC in the room (no where to perch and not even a dressing table). The food quality was OK, but it wasn't an extensive menu (and not what I would call "Hotel Worthy"), being Pizza and fast food based bar-snack only. Brekfast was good though, with decent poached eggs....

Really friendly staff, Excellent location with car parking in Car Park 2 just over from the Owners Club entrance. Made to feel very special. Food quick and lovely, and not over the top price wise. Lee (I think) on reception was brilliant, as was the lady who arranged for our raceday tickets to be collected upon checkin. Dave on car park 2 entrance also deserves a special mention who at 06:30 on raceday morning was wonderfully chatty and a credit to the team, as were ALL the staff we met. If you can get in for a race day, please book it. As an owner this is far better than anything if seen so far. Thank you Team, keep smiling and look forward to seeing you again soon. Just brilliant!

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Room was a good size and had everything we needed. Breakfast had lots of options. Helped yourself to tea/coffee, juices, cereal and toast etc. Had a full English as well. Really enjoyed it. Glad we ignored the reviews!

Quite a strong smell of sewage at times but I believe it was due to the manure used on the racetrack. Nothing too bad though. Also needed more of the little milk cartons in the room as there were only 5 for 2 people.

Unfortunately, GPS in vehicle brought us to two inappropriate locations at front & back of the hotel/racecourse. Also, cooker was breaking down on hottest June day so our dinners were delayed. we felt that we would have had more room space if the bed was a double or queen in place of the king bed.

All good. Staff were excellent, friendly and polite. Parking was good. Ample tea and coffee, nice shower and toilet. Pass system made for easy 24hr access.

My only complaint here was that there was no working area in the room, and it's amazing how uncomfortable it is to try and work without a table in the room.

Easy parking , not far from town. More than we needed

Access was terrible and compounded by roadworks. Took half an hour longer to get there. Followed instructions that took us to a no access barrier though we could see the car park. Had to follow instructions on the barrier to go back into town and go round the houses to get in from the other side. Not a good experience when we were late
