DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel New York City - Chelsea

Nothing to complain about the room. Clean, spacious, equipped, comfy bed, quiet. The hotel is in a good area, 5 minutes from 5th avenue. Also, a couple o blocks away from Penn Station, connecting with JFK. So I guess it is a good deal. A, they also have a storage room free or charge so if your flight is late in the afternoon you can shop or visit downtown Manhattan luggage free.

The breakfast was a bit disappointing. You get breakfast credits, with which you can buy a main course (e.g. eggs and bacon or pancakes) and a drink. But also the serving was slow and sloppy. The guy serving me was a really nice young fellow but visibly undertrained.

Nice staff. Great view of the Empire State Building. Comfy beds. Warm cookies at check-in. Mini fridge.

TV stations went out. HBO vanished & never returned. No informational binder. No room service. Restaurant closed. Unsure if breakfast was indeed included as staff acted like it wasn’t so we only ate it one morning. Elevators are very slow. Halls are really hot.

The staff at the hotel was very pleasant to interact with and extremely helpful at any time of the day. The beds and pillows were comfortable and location of the hotel was quite central.

I noticed we didn’t have housekeeping in our room even when we removed the DND tag. I noticed a couple other rooms on our floor getting a daily cleaning done.

The location was outstanding to attend concerts 3 nights in a row at Madison Square Garden - it was easy to walk back and forth. The room was very nice and the booking.com rate was very good. It was great to be able to pay for the room in advance with PayPal Credit via PayPal.

No one ever answered the room service phone and there was no information whatsoever about room service in the room (nothing printed, nothing on the television, nothing on the hotel web site), but the web site did advertise room service and when I called the front desk to ask if I could access my "breakfast included in the hotel room rate" via room service, and was told that yes I could. I was able to go down to the restaurant myself and order breakfast to take back to my room myself, for which an $18 credit was applied when I charged the breakfast to my room, so that worked out OK.

the staff were immensely kind and helpful, even when under great stress! And the location is fabulous for exploring.

The massive plus point for this hotel is its location. It's within walking distance of pretty much anything you would want to see in New York, being centrally located in midtown and within spitting distance of 5th Avenue. The subway is only a couple of blocks away to get you right down to Battery Park. The staff was very friendly and helpful (and we loved our warm cookie welcome!). It was also nice to be able to sit outside, although this area could do with a little bit of tlc! Lovely to have big toiletries, including conditioner, in the bathroom.

The beds and the room weren't particularly large and were a little on the tired side. One room was a bit tight for a family of four, but that's the trade-off for the location and the price. The beds, though small, were very comfortable and there wasn't too much transferance when sharing!

Very close to 34th and Broadway's busy area. A few more steps and you are in Times Square. The area is busy and crowded. It is safe though. Hotel and room are clean, staff is great. From the 5th floor we did not have much of a view, but the hotel is 22ish floors. The 2 elevators are ok, but it gets busy in the morning when people are checking out. Room is nice, beds are comfortable but are shorter than usual. So please check if you are taller than 190 cm. If you want to be close to mid Manhattan attractions, it is good-to-excellent location. But the area is busy, smell of cannabis is everywhere (well, that is for all Manhattan though). It is close to many stores, coffee places, restaurants and snacks.

AC was a bit noisy, but working great and we were tired anyway from all the walking in Manhattan. If the AC did not wake us up, the street noise did. Garbage truck at 3:30, other mechanical vehicle at 6. No noise from people shouting in the streets, so all good.

We were at the hotel for 11 nights. The room was spacious, had all the necessities, like a fridge, a TV, a hairdryer, a clothing iron and board, a coffee maker... etc. There was a bathtub (not only a shower), which is always a plus for us. The bed was comfortable. As we were almost at the top, we had a beautiful view of the city. The staff was really friendly and helpful. The room service was attentive and kept the room tidy.

I'd say the only inconvenience were the elevators. One of the two broke down on the day of our arrival and the wait for the only elevator was definitely a test of one's patience. We do not blame the hotel for it as they fixed the issue in a timely manner.

I love the Chelsea location - easy access to the event center and the subway. Our room was noisy due to street noise but it's NYC so I'm fine with it. The room was clean and had everything we needed. I liked that the hotel does not use the wasteful small shampoo bottles but instead uses the large ones which are not as wasteful. Also the bottles have large type for the names so when I am in the shower - without my glasses I can see the name on the bottle. It's the small things. also - the young lady at the desk who works nights helped us so much for subway info. She even had an extra Metro card for us to use and she explained exactly how to buy tickets and which train to take. I wish I got her name...she was awesome!

the breakfast is too large. we should have only ordered one plate. I ended up having to throw half out. :(

Staff were great. Location was convenient. The hotel was clean.

Mattress was old and not comfortable.
